Why can't the past just die?

FIRST NAME Aimé ×MIDDLE NAME Olivier ×NICKNAME/ALIAS None LAST NAME Beaufort ×PREFIX Monsieur ×SUFFIX None GENDER Male AGE 21 APPEARANCE Aimé has always looked more like the romantic lead than the small character actor. He stands around six feet with straight shoulders, a proud chest, and muscular arms. His face is handsomely chiseled and boyish looking, with only the hint of facial hair peeking through his skin. His lips are permanently twisted into the tiniest of smirks and eyes never cease to silently compliment any lady he views. ![]() ×HEIGHT 6'0" ×BUILD Athletic/fit ×SKIN Tanned, but not brown. He has a few freckles here and there, but mostly his skin is evenly toned and he is (thankfully) blemish free. ×HAIR About medium length for a male, so somewhere between the bottoms of his earlobes and his shoulders. Dark brown in hue and in large, loose, and carefree curls. ×EYES Chocolate brown and often a bit squinted, adding an air of mystery to them. ×FACE CLAIM James Franco ×ACCENT/PHONETICS He speaks French, but is able to sing in many other languages such as Italian, German, and English. Although unable to speak fluently in any of these languages (other than french) he can understand a few words here and there. OCCUPATION Character actor/chorus member for the Opera company HISTORY Aimé was born to a middle class couple in the early hours of the morning on March 18th, 21 years ago. His parents had met at a production being put on by a local theatre company and fell in love almost immediately. His father had always enjoyed acting, but his family was too poor to enroll him in any sort of school to give him proper training so he settled for his second love, history, and studied to become a teacher. His mother on the other hand, had been trained as a classical ballerina until she fell down a flight stairs at age seventeen and broke her knee, ruining any chance of being recruited by a professional ballet company. Convinced that they would not allow anything to come between their children and their dreams, the young parents enrolled their two children in nearly every performance class they could find. To Olivier's and Estelle's immense relief, Aimé and his sister Michelle enjoyed their lives as young performers. Aimé quickly discovered that singing and acting were his strong points, and he thoroughly enjoyed his ability to make his family smile or laugh at any given moment. At a rather young age, Aimé became horribly fascinated with stage combat and his father grandly rose to the occasion by enrolling him in fencing and boxing lessons. There was a short period of time in which he gave up singing in order to pursue these two aspects of his life a bit further, and it wasn't until he was sixteen that he began taking private voice lessons once more. He was first hired by the opera company as a member of the chorus when he was eighteen. After spending a season with the company he was asked to re-audition for the part of Spoletta in the opera Tosca. He got the part and has been playing smaller and often comedic roles for the company ever since. ×RELATIONSHIPS When Aimé was seventeen years old, he met a woman named Georgette Rousseau. She was a shy young thing, with light brown hair, rosy cheeks, and soft blue eyes. After meeting with her on several occasions, he began to notice a burning passion within his heart that would grow larger every time he was within her presence. He pursued her affections and was overjoyed when she admitted that she too had feelings for him. There were several happy months where he was hardly able to concentrate on anything except his love for her. It seemed as if nothing in the world could keep him from loving her... Then one night, while walking home after watching the most recent production put on by The Opera Garnier, Aimé's heart broke cleanly in half. There was Georgette, looking shy and innocent as ever, standing with a group of prostitutes, plainly willing to sell herself to any man who passed her by. Aimé confronted her and was horrified when she admitted that it had all been somewhat of a game to her, that she found him to be sweet but horribly naive, and that she had hoped only to add him to her long list of conquests before leaving him for good. Angry and hurt, Aimé did his best to forget her by immersing himself in nights filled with parties, absinthe, and whatever woman he could get his hands on. He has since grown numb to the idea of romance and prefers his one-night-stands to any sort of relationship, though a small part of him still hopes to find a woman who might make him feel as alive as Georgette did. PERSONALITY Aimé is very much the "strong silent" type. While he has been known to party and get a little wild with women, he can often be found spending some good quality time with himself, though he is sometimes joined by his two good friends, Novel and Drink. He does his best not to pursue too many women but sometimes cannot help himself, though he is not always the seducer (women are just as cunning and hungry for sex as men, you see). He believes that sex, like boxing and fencing, is another good way to release aggression. Besides, it sometimes helps him forget what happened to him those few years ago -- Or, so he cares to believe. Besides sex, he uses humour and sarcasm to hide the hurt he still often feels. He also does his best to live in the moment instead of focus too much on the past or the future, and will sometimes do his best to convince others to do the same. He is a very strong-willed person, but is also very lazy. He believes in freedom for everyone and would side with the revolutionaries if he were not mildly convinced that they were doing just fine on their own. Some might call him apathetic in this sense but he disagrees: He cares, just not enough to really do anything extraordinary about it. He pretends to be a fairly skeptical fellow, thinking that this will make him appear to be stronger than he is. Although he enjoys mysteries and ghost stories, he claims not believe in the paranormal and doesn't think that the accidents that happen around the opera house are anything more than that -- accidents. He has convinced himself that he should need to see things to believe them and so far, all he knows of ghosts are stories and until he finally sees this so-called Opera Ghost for himself, he will continue to brush off the rumors and laugh as he silently wonders if there is any truth to this chaos. ×QUIRKS He flicks his curly bangs in and out of his eyes with his right index finger when he's bored; shakes his left leg when nervous. ×SEXUAL ORIENTATION Heterosexual. Hello Aimé, welcome to OM! Firstly, I would like you to request a name change, which can be done by going to your Preferences, then clicking on Change Username. If you could change it to a general alias to reflect you as a member rather than the name of your character, that would be great. Secondly, I would like it if you could put the things you detailed in Opinions into Personality, as it seems like it would fit there better, and would greatly add to the parts of his personality already described. Thirdly, and most importantly, your character appears to share a resemblance to one of my characters, Fabian Duchamps. If you could look up his bio, found here perhaps you could find a bit of a different angle to go off of? I know that might be difficult, especially if you have Aimé's traits fairly sewn up already, but of the two chorus boys we have here currently, both have the same general 'handsome, flirtatious, cocky, skeptic' concept, albeit in slightly different ways. It would be great to get something new for our chorus members. :) Edit: Also, you mentioned he watched a film called Captain Blood. I'm afraid that would be a bit too big of an anachronism to allow here. Moving pictures did not appear as mainstream forms of media until sometime after our current time period, which ends at 1870.
