FIRST NAME Leighton ×MIDDLE NAME Jonathon ×NICKNAME/ALIAS Wills LAST NAME Wills ×PREFIX Master ×SUFFIX Jr. GENDER Male AGE 21 APPEARANCE Born with the slim build and delicate facial structure of his mother, Leighton tends to have a very young look about him, something he has hated ever since reaching his adolescent years. For this reason more than anything else he ages his face with heavy stubble and an almost-beard at his chin, giving him a worn, weathered look when coupled with his long nose and deep-set eyes. His face is perhaps not classically handsome but he was once told it had a rugged kind of charm. His skin has a moderate tan to it, which deepends considerably in the summer months. His eyes are a warm brown in colour and framed by long eyelashes. His hair is mid-length, dark brown, and always looks a little unkempt unless, he's slicked it back for an important interview or meeting, something that is required increasingly often. To match his slender build he has long limbs and graceful, if not strong, hands and fingers. He dresses in non-descript clothes of the middle class, never one for flamboyance but very adverse to being looked down on. He will take an excuse to dress up on occasion, but for the most part is more economical now than he was brought up to be. He will usually be seen in a smart hat, pulled quite low over his face, and though his default expression is somewhat serious a smile is easily gained, if not always completely genuine. ×HEIGHT 6'0" ×BUILD Quite slender, he has an almost-lanky stature which just about suits him because of the muscle he built up while doing manual labour. He walks with an upright, but slightly relaxed, posture. ×SKIN Moderately tanned, a little rough. He has a scar on one hand where he picked up the wrong end of a poker as a boy, and another on his left knee from falling among glass. ×HAIR Dark brown, mid-length ×EYES Brown ×FACE CLAIM Shia LaBeouf ×ACCENT/PHONETICS Well-spoken english. He can also speak a little conversational french. OCCUPATION Struggling lawyer HISTORY Born to modestly-earning artist Leighton Williams Sr. and his rich, beautiful muse, Jane, Leighton was brought up on the border of middle-class and high society as his parents tried to fit between the two. From the start both had had a rocky relationship with their parents, Leighton's living abroad and Jane's disapproving of her husband choice, so it wasn't a surprise that later Leighton would rebel. As a boy he was very quiet; having been a lucky survivor of a week-premature birth, he was small for his age and for the most part as unsociable as his parents, who lived within the cocoon of their love and had already decided one child was difficult enough. From a young age, despite being quiet, Leighton was independant and ambitious, striving to achieve, this desire perhaps stemming from a deeper wish to be noticed and appreciated more fully. His childhood was far from unhappy, however; he had his friends and he kept them close, and on summer evening in the large garden of their family home he would sit and learn to sketch with his father. Despite enjoying this and discovering his creative streak, even aspiring to a career in the trade, it was in these "bonding" times that he would feel most distanced from Leighton Sr, when the man was wrapped up in his work. He was schooled well, with much of the family fortune poured into education at a public school. A few times a year he would spend time with his mother's parents, who taught him etiquette and good speech, things that he would mostly forget and only much later attempt to recall. Inevitably, something had to go wrong at some point. When Leighton was thirteen, the beautiful, sickly Jane was struck with the consumption, and died soon after. If Leighton's father had been distant before, there was nothing left of him now. It was in these times that Leighton turned from his artistic dreams and with them, his father, even changing his name to "Wills" in order to establish a distance. Leighton Sr let him go. After spending three years in the same house with minimal communication, Leighton Jr moved across town with some old school mates, where he lived in near-squalor. Those were the dark days, and the fun days. With little money, few clothes and only distant memories of a life of riches, Leighton spent his days and night slumming around taverns and brothels. He was somewhat a late bloomer on the female front, with women not really featuring in his life until these times, and then only older women about town. There were a couple of more prominent girls, but his relationships ended in ruin, most often due to his recklessness and frivolity. For two and a half years he kept it up, until the shame of where his life was heading caught up with him. As a young man of nineteen, he had few prospects. His aspirations of becoming an artist had faded with youth, and, determined not to turn into his father, he instead persued academia. He ran errands by day to make money, studied law and history books late into nights and searched for apprenticeships, not able to swallow his pride enough to appeal to his father, and kept his newly-shortened name, it feeling more a part of him than the original. He recalled the ettiquette from the old days, seeking to earn his way back into higher society. We find him now a year and a half on, stuck somewhere between lower and middle class, with enough money to live a modest existance independantly, and a steady trickle of clients in his own small law firm while he searches for a business partner. He has had minimal correspondence with his father and does not wish to bridge the gap, in case it ruins his precariously content life. ×RELATIONSHIPS Father, Leighton Williams Sr., 57 PERSONALITY Fiercely independent, Leighton will always try to do things himself and is unwilling to accept help even from friends. Despite this lack of reliance he is an open and sociable person, tending to slip into a lonely depression when on his own for too long. For this reason he struggles to get the balance between hard work and spending time with others; generally he has a short concentration span and can't focus on his work for very long. The one things that encourages him to work is the promise of something better. He is laid-back and treats everyone the same for the most part, yet he is actually not very trusting and keeps his secrets to himself, though one might not guess it, because he gives the appearance of having nothing to hide. He has a great amount of confidence, and always appears too relaxed. Despite this, he has a short fuse and can become impatient and angry quickly. He is good at lying, but likes to think of himself as moral even though he will do almost anything to get where and what he wants. He has a rather hidden creative streak, and rarely uses it now, liking to leave it in his past with his resentment for his artist father. As for his academic side, he is of average intellect, but uses more his quick mind and appearance of empathy to aid him in his job. He has somewhat left his rebel days behind, burying them under smart clothes and well-spoken english, forgetting the crazy fun and instead looking towards the etiquette and grace of the middle and upper classes, where he aims to be. He knows he has some sort of charm and will not hesitate to use it, but avoids confrontation entirely if possible. He would much rather use quiet manipulation then shouting or physical blows, something that suits him much more now than in his past. He has a vivid imagination inherited from his father, but the reservation of his upbringing has curbed it somewhat. He is not so much driven by money as by recognition and the idea of some sort of fame, though luckily for him they usually go hand in hand anyway. He is not particularly romantic, but loyal and honest when it comes to relationships. ×QUIRKS He smokes, and drinks heavily during bad moods; his trademark posture is to lean against a wall, chin tipped back slightly, as he surveys people; he will often offer a little half-smile if he appreciates something, rather than an all-out laugh. ×SEXUAL ORIENTATION Heterosexual ( for the most part, I might do something with that later ) LIKES
