FIRST NAME: Antoine ~Middle Name: Honoré LAST NAME: Combeferre ~Prefix: Monsieur GENDER: Male AGE: 23 APPEARANCE: Combeferre is a handsome young man, with thick, wavy dark hair that was always a cause of jealousy among his sisters, and a naturally strong appearance that he shares with his brothers. His face would best be described as boyish and soft. He makes a point of dressing neatly, and places great importance in being clean and modest. ~Height: 5' 8" ~Build: Strongly built, but rather slender, as if the muscles aren't used as frequently as they might be. ~Skin Tone: Perhaps the best words is creamy. Not extremely pale, more of an in-between. He freckles in prolonged sunlight. ~Hair Colour: Deep, thick, dark chocolate (forgive the comparison, I couldn't resist) glossy brown hair that curls gently. He keeps it long, and almost always keeps it pulled back. ~Eye Colour: Smooth green. ~Face Claim: Colin Firth ~Accent/Phonetics: Combeferre's voice is a warm baritone. Occasionally during a debate, he will raise his voice even to the point of shouting his opponents to the floor. He doesn't enjoy this, however, and usually prefers to calmly crush his opponents with a few well-chosen words and a soft voice. HISTORY: Antoine Honoré Combeferre was born the youngest of eight children of his father, Dr. Auguste Combeferre, in a small village in the countryside. Auguste's first marriage, which had resulted in five surviving children, ended sadly as his wife died along with child number six during a complicated labor. Auguste remarried almost a year later, to a younger woman named Emmanuelle, in order that his five children be cared for properly. Antoine was the youngest of three children of his mother, and certainly was treated as the baby of the family. His mother was always especially tender to Antoine; he was almost certainly her favourite. Very early on, it became clear that he was not the healthiest child in the family. He suffered from moderate athsma, much to his mother's concern. As such, he was kept indoors and mostly away from the other children up until he was roughly five years old. Somewhat stronger then, he was allowed to romp about outdoors and be with his siblings. At his mother's urging and father's advice, he was closely monitored while playing with his brothers, for fear that too much physical exertion would bring on another attack. He spent a great deal of his playtime with his sisters, who cooed over his hair (among other things, like sticking flowers in it) and made him go to "tea". Being indoors for most of the day led Combeferre to the books in his father's modest library. The fact that most of them were medical texts did not deter the young child from reading them anyway. He showed signs of gifted abilities, and his father encouraged his reading. At age eight his main source of entertainment was reading. From the books on his father's shelf he first learned about the Greek philosophers. He recieved an education alongside his brother and half-brothers at home from a tutor. When it came time for higher study, his father encouraged a medical career like his own. Combeferre agreed, as it seemed an appropriate outlet for his compassionate and humane nature. So he packed his bags and went to study in Paris. He stuck with medicine and surgery for a time as something "practical" to do to bring in money, but is more interested in philosphy. In Paris he met the Amis of the ABC. The group appealed to his compassionate and philosophical nature, and he was soon one of the principal members. ~Family Member(s): Auguste Combeferre (father), Emmanuelle Combeferre (mother), Auguste Combeferre (half-brother), Adrien Combeferre (half-brother), Marie Combeferre (half-sister), Bernard Combeferre (half-brother), Colette Combeferre (half-sister), Sebastién Combeferre (brother), Astrid Combeferre (sister). ~Spouse/Fiancée: The running joke among in Combeferre's family is "When are you going to find a nice girl and settle down, Antoine?" All his siblings except one have already married had several children. The one who didn't became a priest. ~Crush: Enjolras ~Lover: None. Combeferre is too devoted to Enjolras, the Amis, and school. Besides, he knows that as soon as he finds a girl, he'll be harassed by his father, mother, and siblings to get married and start making babies. PERSONALITY: Combeferre is passionate, yet level-headed. He will often correct others if he believes that they aren't properly using their reason, but he is never rude about it. The time he spent with his mother and his sisters gave him a certain compassion and respect for women, and many of his arguments concern the protection of women. He despises prostitution, because it degrades women, but does not hate the prostitutes themselves. This is how he regards many people; hate the sin, not the sinner. The books he read in his childhood contributed deeply to his knowledge and desire to help the people. He is almost always appears calm and cool, but he can breathe fire when he is debating. Strongly compassionate, he tends to see others as full persons, with their own stories and life struggles. ~Quirks: Nearsightedness. He has glasses for it, but will sometimes forget to wear them. As a child, he suffered from moderate athsma. He still has athsma, but it is much less severe than it was when he was a child. ~Sexual Orientation: Homosexual. Never loved a woman more than like a sister or a mother. Crazy for Enjolras. ~Other: Had a strong Roman Catholic upbringing. He tries to go to mass regularly. SECRET WORD: Found in the Rules.
