- With summer drying up the final dregs of spring, Paris gleams with the newly bright sun. Flora and fauna bloom and bask, heavy winter jackets tucked away for summer frocks and bathing dresses permanently. At least, until the next fall.
- Such glory is marred however, particularly from the recent uproar among the poor (and of coarse, Les Amis de l'ABC) concerning the death of General Lamarque. A veritable paragon for the defence of the less fortunate, his death has given young students a cause to rebel and rally in the streets, with the exuberant support of the beggars and vagrants.
- A young chorus boy named Theodore Russet has been reported missing for many months by the Palaise de Garnier's own Madame Dorée Giry.
- It is rumoured that rising star Christine Daaé is to be replacing Carlotta Guidicelli permanently for the season's remaining productions of Hannibal. The next production, Il Muto, is yet to be definitely cast, but rumours of Guidicelli's return have been surfacing among the chorus and subsequent servents of the House.
- Several invitations to the much-anticipated Bal Masqué (à la Palais de Garnier) are beginning to circulate among members of the public. There has been no mention of an invite-only policy, and if there were, the aged doormen would be unlikely to question each mask. The world will never find you!
