The Day Before - Hakurei Shrine http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=UW9StN4Mr0o Sipping some warm tea at the Hakurei Shrine sat a girl of brown hair wearing the clothes of a priestess. Occasionally, she would look up into the sky, where she would spot snowflakes delicately falling from the heavens. My, it’s hard to believe the winter has been this brutal, despite being so early into the season. It’s nice that its chased away most of those youkai who come to play at my shrine...but I wish it didn’t chase away everyone else who would donate money for my shrine. How am I supposed to get through the winter without any money at all for food or supplies? … Perhaps I’ll be forced to work some kind of part-time job in the Human Village, but then, who will maintain the shrine while I’m gone? Ugh, stupid snow... As the girl went to get up to clean the cup she had been using, a voice from behind her called out. “Yoooo Reimu!” The red-white named Reimu turned and looked to see a young woman with jet black hair seemingly flying in the sky, probably thanks to the wings on her back. The woman landed lightly on the ground and and waved to greet the shrine maiden, with a camera in hand. “Hey Reimu, what’s up? Been keeping warm from all this cold? It’s been horrible on the Youkai Mountain!” Wonderful Shrine Maiden of Paradise: Reimu Hakurei ![]() Reimu gave a slightly surprised look at the girl with wings before answering her. “Oh Aya, yes, I’ve been managing here. Why are you here though?” Traditional Reporter of Fantasy: Aya Shameimaru ![]() To Reimu’s question, Aya put on a grin and proudly puffed out her chest. “Isn’t it obvious? Gensokyo may try to sleep underneath all this snow, but I, the top reporter in all of Gensokyo, can’t waste a second when there’s news everywhere to be found! Say, did you get the letter like some of the others did? Since you’re the top incident solver in Gensokyo, I figured you must have gotten a letter!” Reimu couldn’t help but tilt her head in confusion and cross her arms at Aya’s inquiry of a letter that she got. Wanting to know a little more, Reimu asked Aya to clarify a bit more. “A...letter? Come to think of it, I pretty much woke up and spent most of the day outside, so I’m not sure if there was a letter or something that I received...why? What’s so importa-huh? Aya? Where did you g-” “Ahhh! Here it is, here it is! Just like I thought!” “Hey, don’t go snooping in other people’s homes, you fanatic tabloid writer!” Reimu rushed back in her shrine, where she spotted Aya clutching what indeed seemed to be a letter of some kind addressed to Reimu. Without wasting a second, Reimu angrily snagged the letter the from Aya before berating her further. “And don’t take people’s things without their permission either!” Seeing her precious letter taken from her, Aya pouted at Reimu, trying to win her over with empty words. “Awww Reimu, don’t be so cold! If anything, you should be thanking me for letting you know that you found it! Hmph, I see that I get no respect for my efforts to help you!” Sighing, Reimu answered the tengu back, trying to settle her down. “Yes yes, thank you very much! Now could you be quiet? I’m trying to read what it sa-” “REEEEEIMUUUUU! LET’S DRINK SOME SAKEEEEE!” In response to the voice yelling outside the shrine building, Reimu turned her head from the letter she was trying to read and cringed slightly at the other new guest that had just arrived. “W-Why is it that even in this frigid coldness I get all these unwelcome visitors?” “Ohhh, that sounded like Suika! Come on Reimu, it’d be rude for the maiden to not greet her guests!” “Eh, Aya? But I’m still re-Ah! Hey, don’t randomly pull me along with you!” With a very flustered Reimu in tow, Aya dashed back out of the house to greet the one she called Suika. “Ah, it is you Suika! It’s great to see you! What’s going on?” In front of the shrine stood was a very young looking girl with long ginger colored hair and two horns sticking out from her head. In addition, she seemed to have shackles on various limbs of her body. “Oh Aya, you’re here too? This is perfect, we should have a little drinking party to celebrate, since it’s been so long that it’s been more than just me and Reimu at the shrine!” Forgathering Dream, Illusion, and Pandemonium: Suika Ibuki ![]() “That sounds like a great idea! Hey, Reimu, where do you keep the sake? I’ll go grab it and some drinking cups.” “H-hey wait a sec, I didn’t agree to...oh who am I kidding. There’s no way I’ll win this argument against both of you.” After sighing, Reimu continued with closed eyes. “There should be some sake in the storehouse and I should have some cups in my cupboard where I cook. At least let me finish reading this letter befo-” As she opened her eyes, Reimu saw that Aya had already returned, sake and cups both in hand. Reimu sighed again at Aya’s speed, where as Suika seemed to be more impressed. “Wow Aya, you really are the fastest in Gensokyo! That was amazing!” Twitching her right eye slightly, Reimu could only mutter words of annoyance. “...What you consider amazing is what I consider obnoxious.” Sighing yet again, Reimu collected herself and continued. “Well, I suppose we could all just read the letter together as we drink. Let’s go inside though, it’s actually kind of cold out here.” Several Hours and Many Drinks Later... “Ehhhhh? Are you crazy Aya? You think I’m gonna be a guinea pig for your stupid newspaper?” A blushed Reimu could be seen yelling at Aya, who had suggested that Reimu should join the war mentioned in the letter that she received and that it would be a great idea for a set of stories to run in her newspaper. Suika happily clapped her hands together in agreement with Aya’s plan while nodding furiously. “Ohhh that’s a great idea Aya! It’s been boring lately and Reimu being in that war-thingy would totally spice things up around here!” Reimu’s attention was prompted turned to Suika, stunned that she would agree with the devious reporter. “Ehhhhhhhh?! Don’t agree with her Suika! What the heck, I never even said I wanted to do such a thing!” At Reimu’s outburst, Aya snickered quietly and pulled out the trump card she had been saving, just in case Reimu was still unwilling to join the war. “Fufufu...Oh Reimu~...isn’t true that you need some money for your shrine? It can’t be easy maintaining this huge place with no donations.” With that statement, Reimu froze up in total surprise. A direct hit, Aya thought to herself. “I knew it~. If you can’t get some money soon, I wonder what will happen to this shrine you’re supposed to watch over. There’s no way it could be anything good, right Suika?” Suika nodded with a similar look of malice in her eyes as Aya and Aya continued on. “But Reimu...did you forget about the prize for winning? Whatever you greatest wish or desire was, I think? If you were to compete and win, you’d probably never have to worry about funding your shrine ever again. See? It’s a win-win for the both of us. You get money to save your shrine, and I get stories to write in my paper. Not a bad trade-off, if I do say so myself. So what do you say, Reimu? ...Reimu? ...Oh my, I think I went a bit too far...” Aya and Suika gazed evilly upon Reimu, still in deep shock at her secret being revealed and contemplating feverishly what to do. Crap, she’s right! At this rate, I’ll never be able to keep the shrine running and I’ll be forced to shut down the shrine! Youkai will run wild in Gensokyo, humans will be left at their mercy, and I’ll be forced to do things no shrine maiden should ever do to survive. AHHH! WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN TO ME!! W-wait! I need to calm down, Aya said something about a reward or something! If I can just win the war like she said, then surely everything will work itself out and I’ll finally have enough money to never worry about the shrine! Finally, I’ll be able to relax and do whatever I want! Maybe I should even hire a bunch of other maidens so I can take a vacation once in a while! That’s perfect!! Oh Reimu, you’re so smart sometimes~! The stunned miko slowly crept a smile onto her face, a smile that would bring onlookers complete and total fear into their hearts if they saw it... “U-Uh, R-Reimu? You look k-kinda scary right now,” stated Suika nervously, “You don’t have to j-join the war if you don’t w-want to...I can help you maintain the shr-” “ALRIGHT THEN GENSOKYO, THE HAKUREI SHRINE MAIDEN IS GONNA MAKE SURE THAT NO ONE IS SAFE FROM HER WRATH! THAT REWARD SHALL ALL BE MINE!!! WAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!” “W-well, Suika, it was great seeing you, I think I need to go back to the mountain to edit some articles, bye!” With that, Aya quickly left the shrine in a flash, before the trembling Suika could even get a word in edgewise. “H-hey Aya, wait a sec! Don’t leave me hear with this scary Reimu! Ah- Reimu! W-What are you doing!??!” Suika turned around to see Reimu creeping up behind her, no doubt with dark intents in her heart. “SUIKA! YOU SHALL BE THE FIRST ONE I TAKE DOWN, I HOPE YOU’RE PREPARED!” “EHHH-NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!” STOP MUSIC The Next Morning - Day 0: “...Ugh....ow. What the hell, what a hangover. I guess that’s what I get for drinking with a tengu and oni. I suppose I should clean up th-ouch! Eh, what’s this?” http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=NaaFGz7x230 As Reimu stumbled to get up from the ground, she placed her right hand on a jagged, golden emblem. Next to it was a note with handwriting similar to the letter she had received the day before. W-wait, I thought that letter was just a joke. I signed it only because I thought it was a joke! W-what the hell is going on!? With her hands trembling, she picked up the note and read it carefully... Thank you for your timely response! In order to show your acceptance to the other Servants of this war, please wear this gold pin I’ve prepared for the duration of this war, or until you yourself are defeated. Once again, good luck! … N-no way. This is for real? A war...in Gensokyo? ...I guess Aya wasn’t lying about other people in Gensokyo getting the same letter as me. But...why? Who is it that wants us to fight against each other? Why did they wait until now? ...Well, regardless, I guess it is a good thing I ended up accepting that invitation. For the sake of Gensokyo, I have to compete and win this war, to protect these lands I love. The prize would be a nice extra, but above all else, I can’t let someone with a malicious heart win this war and take over everything and everyone here... ...Ugh, I still have a hangover. This is no good, there’s no way I can fight like this today. I guess for now all I can do is make preparations today and head out tomorrow. Things are going to get very busy soon and I need to make sure that I’m ready to deal with them. I suppose I should head to the storehouse and get what I need. After cleaning up the shrine and herself, Reimu proceeded to the storehouse of the Hakurei Shrine, where many tools of youkai extermination were kept to be used in times of war. As Reimu went to unlock the giant door to the storehouse, a voice from behind addressed her... “Ah, so this is where you were at.” Reimu turned to see a beautiful woman with long, flowing gold hair in a purple dress standing behind her. In her white, glove-covered hands was an enormous umbrella used for blocking the sun. After seeing who this unwelcome intruder was, Reimu answered her with a cautious, but threatening tone. “Yukari. What do you want?” “My, it’s been so long and this is how you address an old friend? I’m offended Reimu.” Border of Phantasm: Yukari Yakumo ![]() “Whatever, I’m kind of busy right now, can you come back some other time?” Yukari merely grinned at Reimu’s response and continued talking. “Well, I bet you would be, since you’ve decided to play war.” At that sentence, Reimu’s face became one of surprise...and suspicion. “You. What are you planning?” To answer Reimu’s suspicion was a look of surprise from Yukari herself. “My, I don’t know where you got the idea that I’m involved. I merely heard from Ran. It seems that tengu has been sending newspapers to all the residents of Gensokyo about a war of some kind. I figured that you of all people would be apart of it, and from what I can tell, I’m right. I merely wanted to wish you good luck. Oh, and since it does look like you’re apart of this, I’ll be happy to look over the shrine while you’re away. Aren’t I kind?” Reimu scoffed at Yukari and turned back to open the door while responding to Yukari. “Something like that is hardly an act of kindness, am I right? Fine, I suppose you would be the most reliable one in Gensokyo to take care of my shrine. But...I’ll be sure to take you down if you try anything funny, got it?” With a smirk, Yukari answered Reimu. “Of course. I wouldn’t expect anything less from you. Well then, I won’t hold you up any longer. Later, Reimu.” Without even turning around, Reimu knew that once Yukari finished speaking, she was gone without a trace. Sighing, Reimu opened the door to the storehouse and began her preparations for the war. Now then...I suppose it’s time for me to get serious. I can only hope this ends quickly... Day 1: http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=xy3OqGxhaGs Well, I guess this is it, time to go out and solve another incident. Hopefully it ends quickly...I don’t think her to properly take care of my shrine... ...Ugh...I’ve haven’t even left and there’s already trouble brewing... Reimu could be seen looking at a pack of dolls that had flown into her shrine without any care or sympathy for the one they were invading. As they disappeared, Reimu went back to her thoughts. At least they were ju- … Before she could even finish her thoughts, the dolls had returned, flying back towards the Forest of Magic. Jeez...those were dolls...what the heck could she be planning with them? I wonder...could she be involved with this? ...Well, I won’t bother to find out. For now, I need to question Rinnosuke about this war and see what he knows. Perhaps if nothing else, I’ll get a clue...although... Looking back at her shrine, Reimu quickly shook her head turned to leave. No, as suspicious as she may be, I have absolutely no proof. For all I know, this could be Aya’s doing...after all, I certainly don’t remember ever seeing the letter until Aya bought it to me. Jeez, why does she always have to do such stupid things for that newspaper of hers...then again, it is true that I may have missed it. And I was really drunk two nights ago, so it’s possible that yesterday the same person planted the other note and the pin while I was passed out. Gah, I’m thinking to much, I should real- “Woah!” Reimu was suddenly stuck with a feeling that everything felt heavier. ...Please let this war end quickly... After adjusting herself to the changed gravity, Reimu finally made her way out of the shrine and to Rinnosuke’s Item Shop. A few hours later, she had finally made it there, where she saw Rinnosuke and a certain magician chatting. STOP MUSIC “Oh! Reimu! So you’re a part of this war too, eh?” The black-white magician ran over to Reimu, clearly pleased to see that Reimu was apart of the war. Looking on the magician’s hat, Reimu could see a pin matching hers attached on it. “Indeed I am. And it looks like you are too, Marisa.” http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=cbe5PE417AM An Ordinary Black Magician: Marisa Kirisame ![]() With a smile, Marisa placed her hands behind her head and proudly boasted to her longtime friend. “Heheheh, you know it! So I guess we’re gonna be competing against each other in this war? I want you to know, I’m not gonna back anything against you!” With a small smile of her own, Reimu replied back. “I would hope not, but don’t expect me to lay down and give up either. I came here to get more information, you know? I figured Rinnosuke could be a big help.” “...Well, I don’t know about that...he sure seems pretty useless to me!” Clearing his throat, the man named Rinnosuke spoke up to silence the cocky magician. “Ahem...I’m standing right here, you know. Not only that, but I believe you owe me for a number of favors that this ‘useless guy’ helped you with!” Store Owner of Kourindou and Interim Game Master: Rinnosuke Morichika ![]() Turning to Reimu, Rinnosuke continued speaking while softening his tone for the maiden. “Now then, you’re probably quite tired Reimu. Would you like to go inside and have some tea? I’ve left some on the table for travelers like yourself. It’s the least I can do to aid you. Ah, and if you give me a minute, I’ll be inside to answer any questions you may have.” Nodding her head and smiling peacefully, Reimu thanked Rinnosuke before heading inside. “Thank you, Rinnosuke. I appreciate the generosity. Well then, if you’ll excuse me.” It’s been far too long since I’ve been able to get out of the shrine to enjoy myself, even if I may end up fighting some others. I guess I might have to thank Yukari after all... … ...Well...maybe. This thing is just getting started...anything could happen. For now...I can only enjoy this tea. And so, the shrine maiden indulged herself in her tea before speaking with Rinnosuke on more important matters. Edited by Soul Devour, Feb 27 2012, 01:34 AM.

Day 2: http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=oiMIpOqcwRg “Well, I suppose I should let myself do a bit more work. Gotta be in top form for when any enemies appear!” Marisa stood outside the item shop and entered a state of concentration, while Rinnosuke and Reimu watched her. After a couple moments, she discharged some mana into what looked like her Hakkero cannon. “Whew! That was some hard work! Let’s grab something to drink to relax Reimu...ah...” Wiping off a bit of a sweat, Marisa turned to Reimu, who was setting up a Permanent Border to her learn more information about people in the area. Going silent, Marisa watched as Reimu finished her preparations and Reimu unleashed a small ring of mana around the area, which eventually locked into place after sufficiently spreading itself out. “Wow, impressive! I see I’m not the only one serious about this!” Sighing, Reimu answered Marisa. “Of course, I’m always serious in whatever I do. Let’s grab something to drink though, I’m a bit tired after casting that skill and this cold is bothering me. Rinnosuke, you don’t mind, do you?” Rinnosuke, who up to this point was watching Reimu and Marisa complete their tasks lazily, suddenly perked up at being addressed by Reimu. “Eh? Ah, of course not. I am here to help you out in any way...come on in, you two.” Reimu and Marisa headed inside and spent a short time relaxing from the cold. Shortly after Reimu had finished her drink though, she got up to leave, causing Marisa to protest. “Ah, Reimu, don’t leave! I’ll get bored without you here!” Sighing, Reimu coolly told Marisa how she wasn’t going to fool around all day like her. “Unlike you, I actually intend to resolve this incident. Don’t worry though, we’ll see each other again soon enough, I would imagine. Thanks for the drinks and bed Rinnosuke.” Nodding, Rinnosuke answered Reimu with a smile and waved. “Not at all, if you need any help in the future just come back.” Reimu returned the smile and bowed before departing the shop. STOP MUSIC After traveling for a while, she again arrived at the Hakurei Shrine, which appeared just as empty as when she had left the day before. However, before she could get too far, she spotted a certain maid teleporting into area and greeted her promptly. http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=J4cAZLR7Gdc “Ah, Sakuya, it’s good to see you after so long. What brings you here...?” Perfect and Elegant Maid: Sakuya Izayoi ![]() The question she asked seemed somewhat pointless, as Reimu had turned her attention to the pin Sakuya was wearing. Noticing that, Sakuya gave the expected response back. “As you might have suspected Reimu, I’m a part of this war, as you seem to also be. I don’t come meaning any harm though and actually wish to ask for an alliance with you, in order for you to aid me in finding out the culprit of this war.” “Heh, sounds like Remilia isn’t pleased that someone pulled a fast one over her. I still see she’s as childish as ever. As for an alliance, you’ll have to give me some time to think on it...ah, it looks like someone else has arrived...” Reimu raised her hand and pointed to the entrance of the shrine where a young woman who was slightly out of breath was standing. “Hah...hah...Jeez Sakuya, that was a little too quick for me, I don’t have the physical stamina you do. Eh, Reimu, is that you?” Seven Colored Puppeteer: Alice Margatroid ![]() Collecting herself, Alice addressed Reimu and walked over to properly greet her. “It’s been quite a while, hasn’t it? I see you’re wearing a pin too, so I take it you were selected as one of these servants like me and Sakuya?” With a small smile, Reimu answered Alice back. “Yes, it has been. And yes, I also seem to be a part of this war. Judging from how you’re addressing Sakuya, I suppose I can assume that you two have already met. Well...we can talk inside, I’ll put on some tea for all of us.” The three then headed inside to talk of the war and to relax for the remainder of the day. |

Reimu 3: http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=IQgtfgmJUBc Reimu, Alice, and Sakuya could be seen sitting on the ground at a table where three half-empty cups of tea were laying on coasters. The trio had been relaxing from the cold and chatting with each other, to catch up on what each other had been doing during the brutally cold winter. Although it had only been several months, there was much that they wished to speak of, despite the potentially limited time they had together before one of them had to possibly depart. “Wow, I never expected Patchouli to become a thief like Marisa...jeez...I’m gonna have knock some sense into the both of them the next time I see them.” Reimu shook her head in disapproval at Patchouli’s recent habits and took a sip of tea as Sakuya tried explaining why she possibly had started to do such a thing. “Well, I suppose she has her reasons. I suppose since Marisa hadn’t snuck into the library recently, Lady Patchouli was starting to miss her habits and acted like her to try and simulate Marisa being there. Still...I also intend to give her some words of advice when this war is over. Speaking of the war, I’m actually curious of your reasons for fighting, although I can probably take a very good guess...” After finishing her tea and setting it down, Reimu went to answer Sakuya, “Haaa....yeah, it’s pretty obvious, isn’t it? It’s an incident, so naturally I have to do something about it, it’s my duty...” Sighing, Reimu went to pick up her cup again before realizing that she had already drank all the contents within. Seeing Reimu becoming a bit distressed, Alice quickly got up to take Reimu’s cup and let her know she would bring more. “Ah, let me go grab some more tea for you, Reimu. Excuse me.” Looking up to see Alice grabbing her empty cup, Reimu thanked her before returning to speak with Sakuya. “Thank you Alice, I appreciate it.” “Not a problem, I’ll be right back.” With a smile, Alice left the room to grab more tea, leaving the two to chat. Sakuya decided that since she had already told Alice her reasons for fighting, she would go and tell Reimu now, since there was no need to wait. “I guess I should have expected a response like that from you. I personally am fighting for the sake of the mistress, since she seems quite distraught over the arrogance of this Game Master. Since she needs to stay and protect the Scarlet Devil Mansion, she’s asked me to travel out and gather information on the Game Master.” Sakuya paused for a moment to finish her tea before continuing. “To that end, I would again ask if you would like to become an ally to help in the aid of finding the culprit. Incidentally, finding them may also help you in resolving this case. What do you say?” Reimu crossed her arms in thought and spent a couple moments in silence before answering her back. “...Hmm...Alright. I’ll accept an alliance with you for the time being. It couldn’t hurt to be a part of one, since it’s as you say. Let’s work head to together, Sakuya.” With a smile and nod, Sakuya answered back. “Of course, the same to you.” No sooner than the alliance was formed, Alice came back holding a tray with several cups on it. “Sorry for the delay! I bought us all some more tea since I’m sure you probably finished your tea as well Sakuya.” Sakuya gave Alice a light smile as she took her drink. “That was quite thoughtful of you Alice, thank you. Ah, since we’re sharing our reasons for fighting, we’d like to know yours as well, if that’s ok with you.” Laughing nervously, Alice gave a short response and continued on to other matters. “Haha, well I want to protect Genoskyo of course, it’s a very precious home to me. Anyways, I intended to spend another day to make some more preparations, what were your plans for today?” Sakuya blew on her hot drink and took a small sip before answering, with Reimu following suit shortly afterwards. “It seems we’ll be spending some more time together then, since I also wanted to stay here if at all possible. Is that ok, Reimu?” “Of course, it’s not like I have a choice in the matter. I won’t be staying though, I’m going to head out shortly after I finish up here. Anyways, that’s enough war talk...I need to tell you what Yuugi and Suika were doing in the back of my shrine when I wasn’t looking a week ago...” With that, the conversation turned back to more mundane things for a while longer. About an hour later, the three cleaned up their mess and Reimu went to depart from the shrine. Before leaving, she chanted a spell and unleashed a ring of mana from her, which spread out around the shrine before locking into place. “Well, I’ll be off then, later.” Nodding, Reimu turned to leave while waving goodbye. Sakuya and Alice returned their own goodbyes and waves. “Be well, Reimu.” “Take care of yourself.” Reimu left the shrine and proceeded to travel towards the Forest of Magic. After short period of time, she arrived, with the night starting to creep in. It’s getting dark already...I should probably set up camp for now since it could become dangerous if I travel any further. Within a half-hour, Reimu had set up a modest campground and proceeded to settle down and watch the night sky. Nights like this are nice...just being outside and watching the stars above... |

Reimu 4: http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=vI1KnSDzbnU Well...that was...not as fun as I thought it’d be. Ugh, it was so cold and so hard to sleep on the ground! And someone destroyed the border I set up! Argh...I could really go for something to eat... After wondering for a bit in search of food, Reimu came across an open field filled with mushrooms unique to the Forest of Magic. Reimu went to grab one and take a bite when a voice came from above to warn her. “W-Wait, don’t eat that mushroom! It’s poisonous!” Landing in front of Reimu and taking the mushroom from her before she could chew into it was a girl with pink hair and wings on her back. Surprised, Reimu tried to recall the name of this person whom she had met a couple times before. “You...you’re that night-sparrow, right? ...Was it Mystia?” The bird-girl grinned at the name before responding back. “You got it! Mystia Lorelei, at your service!” Wonder of the Night Sparrow: Mystia Lorelei ![]() “I must say, I’m surprised to see the shrine maiden out alone in the Forest of Magic, attempting to eat the things that grow here no less! What exactly brings you here?” Reimu herself seemed to wonder why she came here. Trying not to look like a fool to Mystia, Reimu tried to laugh it off as a duty of hers. “Ahaha...w-well...you see, um...o-one of the duties of the Hakurei Shrine Maiden is to head to an unknown place and...um...dine on things that she doesn’t normally eat...” Mystia looked at Reimu intensely, leaving Reimu to wonder how bad her reason was when suddenly... “I see! Then this is perfect!” “...Eh?” Wait, did she seriously buy that reason?! What kind of idiot is she?!! She’s making that idiot ice fairy seem like a genius right now!!! “If you need to eat something you’ve never had before, you should try my grilled lamprey eel! Everyone in Gensokyo says it’s delicious, even the Tengu!” Seeing that Mystia had in fact accepted her reason for being the Forest of Magic, Reimu hung her head, depressed at the lack of intelligence Mystia showed. “W-Why are you hanging your head like that?! Don’t underestimate me because I’m a sparrow! I’m not lying, it really is good!” Mystia’s words only made Reimu’s depression grow, and she fell to her hands and knees, wondering if it was possible for someone to be so stupid. “N-No, I’m sure it is. Thank you for your kindness...” “Alright, let’s go then to my stand! I hope you’re hungry!” … “Wow, this is delicious!! I-I can’t believe it’s so good!” Reimu quickly devoured her dish and requested more, to which Mystia happily bought out another plate to her. After indulging herself, Reimu took out her wallet to pay for the meal she received only for Mystia to hastily shake her hands and head. “No, no, this is on me! You looked really tired and hungry out there so I felt really bad and wanted to help you!” “Are you sure? I really don’t mind...?” “Please, it’s a gift from me to you. Besides, don’t you desperately need that money for your shrine since no one ever donates? Ah, Miss Reimu!?” At those words, Reimu fell face first into the countertop, stung deeply by Mystia’s words of truth. Still face down, Reimu decided to accept Mystia’s humble gift. “W-well when you put it that way...I guess I’ll take the free meal...thank you very much.” I guess I can’t call her a total idiot then... Reimu collected herself and got up to leave the Forest of Magic when suddenly a bright light shot up from Rinnosuke’s Item Shop and left Gensokyo blinded by it’s light. After the brightness faded, the orb-like object lowered itself right over Rinnosuke’s Item Shop and held its position. Looks like I better get moving. Not wasting any time, Reimu drained some mana from the environment to prepare herself for the trip back to the shrine and gave Mystia a quick farewell before departing. “Later Mystia! Thanks again for the great food!” “No problem Miss Reimu, good luck in your duties!” She’s still a partial idiot at least... … After traveling for a couple hours, Reimu arrived at back at the Hakurei Shrine, noticing Alice leaving the area just as she was arriving. She also noticed that Sakuya had suddenly vanished and yelled to Alice for her whereabouts. “Hey Alice, what’s going on! What happened to Sakuya?” Aliced turned to Reimu and waved at her before giving back the response that Reimu didn’t wish for, but expected. “Sorry Reimu, I have other things to attend to, we can talk another time, alright?” “H-hey, wait a minute!” Not willing to give into Reimu’s pleads, Alice took flight slightly off the ground and proceeded out of the area. Left alone again, Reimu sighed at her misfortune and headed back inside the shrine to question the events of the day. Edited by Soul Devour, Feb 6 2012, 12:57 PM.

Reimu 5: http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch?v=B3_9dHxu7ig Well, back to the Forest of Magic I suppose. Maybe something exciting will happen again! Reimu departed from the shrine and headed back to the Forest of Magic, where she spent the majority of the day before. Since it was getting dark as Reimu arrived, she decided to take a break and camp out...this time proving much more comfortable than the previous time, thanks to be a number of necessitates that Reimu had bought along. This time I’m prepared for anything the wilderness throws at me! I’ll be a professional camper by the time this war is done...maybe! And with everything set up, Reimu enjoyed the remainder of the day in peace. |

Reimu 6: http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=3uUy2pFXlqg “Fwooooaaah...” Reimu rose from her sleeping bag, rubbing the sleep from her eyes and headed off to a nearby stream to help wake herself up. It was better than the previous trip but sleeping properly at home really can’t be beat...guess I should get something eat...glad I picked food this time. After washing herself off and enjoy her breakfast at a leisurely pace, Reimu began to clean up her campsite, ready to continue her journey towards her next destination, where hopefully a warm bed awaited her. Guess I’ll treat myself to a bit of mana before I go... Reimu took in a small amount of mana from the enviroment through light concentration and then set out. Because of all the extra baggage she had packed, she was forced to move at a rather slow pace, which as a result caused her to spend many hours trekking through the Forest of Magic before finally exiting and reaching the outskirts of the Scarlet Devil Mansion. Oh thank heavens, I can see the gate...just a bit further... Pulling herself along, Reimu managed to make it to the gate before she collapsed and passed out, until to go on any further... ”Eh...hey! W-What happened here?! You, you’re-...” … Reimu woke later in a bed inside a small building. Her face felt somewhat hot, causing her to realize that she had managed to catch a fever. By the bed was a bowl of very cold water with a towel soaking in it. Reimu attempted to sit up to get a better idea of where she was, but could only weakly let out a cry before falling back to the bed. The sound seemed to alert the one who was taking of Reimu, who headed over to the bed to try and keep Reimu settled in. “Ah, Miss Reimu, you shouldn’t push yourself! You’ve caught a bad fever and need to rest!” Reimu turned her head to see who it was that saved her and was slightly surprised at the person it turned out to be. Colorful Rainbow Gatekeeper: Hong Meiling http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/9886/04446c39099299d3f32efeb.jpg “...Hong...?” Reimu could only call out her name weakly before Hong put a finger to Reimu’s lips, telling her not to strain herself further. “Jeez, you really need to take care of your body, you know? I don’t know what kind of war you all are fighting but if you can’t even stay healthy then I think it’d be better if you just didn’t have it at all!” Hong went to grab the towel and rang it out slightly before placing it on Reimu’s forehead, allowing her to feel more relaxed by the cool sensation it bought. “I can get your fever down by tomorrow, but you’ll have to make sure to listen to exactly what I say, ok? Nod for me, please.” Reimu obeyed the gatekeeper and nodded weakly. With a relieved smile on her face, Hong went over to what seemed like a small kitchen in a different corner of the house. “Good. I’ve almost finished making a special medicine for you. It’ll be bitter, but make sure to drink it and then get some rest for the remainder of tonight, alright?” Reimu again nodded and then went and closed her eyes, very tired and exhausted. I never knew she was so well-versed in medicines before...I guess I shouldn’t treat her so poorly... “Alright, drink up please...” Reimu took the bowl of the medicine soup and began to drink it, but pulled back the bowl and scrunched her face at the taste it left. “B-bitter!” After seeing Hong sigh, her expression clearly saying ‘I told you that already’, Reimu gathered her courage and downed the entire contents of the bowl within a few seconds. Immediately as she finished, Hong presented her with a glass of cold water to help wash down the aftertaste. “There we go. That wasn’t so bad, right? Now then, get some rest, alright?” Reimu nodded one last time, closed her eyes and quickly drifted off to sleep as she said a few words of gratitude to Hong’s kindness. “Thank...you...” Hong only smiled and went to change Reimu’s towel, taking care not to disturb her rest. In a soft voice, she welcomed Reimu. “For everything you do for us, for Gensokyo, this small act of kindness is not nearly enough to earn your thanks. I wish I was stronger, so that I could help take some of this burden off. But all I can do for now is let you rest peacefully for one night. Sleep well, Miss Reimu.” |

Reimu 7: http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=mG4bLF-cz4s&feature=youtu.be Inside Hong’s gatehouse slept Reimu, with Hong outside watching for any people who tried to enter the gatehouse. Hong had spent many hours up the night before tending to Reimu’s high fever and had only recently gone outside to continue her duty so she was rather exhausted. Still, she didn’t dare complain, because whether she was tired or not did not change that she was to keep the Scarlet Devil Mansion safe from any invaders, especially since they were shorthanded with Sakuya in the war. After a few hours of patrolling, Hong went back inside to check up on Reimu and was surprised to see that she was already up and about. “Ah, Miss Reimu, you’re awake! Are you feeling any better?” Reimu, who was finishing getting dressed, turned to meet Hong and smiled. “Yes, the medicine you have me seems to have worked wonders. Thank you very much, I don’t know what I would have done if you weren’t there.” “Not a problem! It’s only natural to help someone in need. By the way....judging from the way you’re preparing yourself...would I be right in assuming that you’ll be leaving soon?” Reimu nodded slightly as she tied her hair ribbon in and then looked at herself in a mirror hanging in front of her. “Yes...as much as I would like to continue resting, I need to continue on my mission to solve this incident. That’s just how it is.” Crossing her arms and looking displeased, Hong sighed and gave Reimu a bit of advice before letting her go. “Well, I can’t stop you from going. But please take of yourself, you’re only one person. You don’t need to always try and shoulder every burden of Gensokyo.” Reimu only gave a small smile with a touch of sadness in it back to Hong and then excused herself. “I’ll be off then. Thanks again for taking care of me.” Perhaps she’s right, perhaps I’m a bit too hardheaded about always trying to deal with everything myself...but even still, it’s my duty. No matter how much anyone complains or tells me otherwise, I have to followthrough with it...even if I may not want to at times... STOP MUSIC Reimu decided that a little extra mana would do her good and absorbed a bit from the environment before waving goodbye to Hong and leaving for the Misty Lake. The journey was relatively uneventful until she arrived at the lakeside, and was shocked at the sight she saw. http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=s9L1JORJHls S-Snow? No...this is actually a hailstorm! Who exactly is causi... … ...Oh... So the changes in mana...it was...her... ...why am I not surprised? Reimu looked up to see a girl by the lakeside playing with a number of snowmen, recoginzing her identity. “Yoooooo! Cirno!” The girl turned to look to see who was calling and a huge grin formed on her face as she raced over to greet her. “Reimu! What are you doing here!” Unnatural Chill: Cirno ![]() “I could ask you the same thing. What’s with the Hailstorm? It’s pretty annoying to dodge all this ice.” Cirno looked a bit confused at Reimu’s question, almost as if to ask she herself didn’t know. “Er...well...I think I got bored and made it. You seem to be doing a good job of dodging it though, so is it really a problem? Ow!” Reimu whacked Cirno on the head with her gohei, trying to explain why it was a bad idea in general to do such reckless things. “Yes yes, I dodged it, but whatever about other people? I’m sure a lot of people have been avoiding this lake if there was a hailstorm going on.” “I-I suppose that would make sense...” As she was sighing in frustration towards the fairy, she noticed that Cirno wore the same pin that she did. “Ah...that’s...” Cirno tilted her head in confusion and looked to where Reimu was pointing. “Eh, this? ...Er...what is this and why am I wearing i-Oww! W-Why’d you hit me again!?” “You mean to tell me you’ve been in this war the whole time and you never knew it!? Jeez, no wonder everyone calls you an idiot!” At the word ‘war’, Cirno’s expression changed back to surprise, finally remembering what she had gotten herself into. “You’re right! I completely forgot that I’m in a war to be the strongest! Alright, who wants to take me on?!” Reimu sighed again and decided that it was pointless talking to her further and went to find a safe place to camp for the night. “Well, I’m going find a place that isn’t being pelted by ice and sleet. Unlike you, I can’t sleep outside during a hailstorm.” “Ah, I have my own home here, I don’t sleep outside either! Why don’t you spend the night?” Well...it’s a guaranteed place to stay without worry of the weather...I guess it can’t hurt. After milling over the idea in her head, Reimu responded back to Cirno. “Sure I guess, thanks for the hospitality.” Cirno nodded happily, grabbed Reimu and then flew off to her house, excited to finally have a visitor to talk with. “H-Hey don’t suddenly grab people!” “Hehe, sorry! This is gonna be a ton of fun!” |

Reimu 8: http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=SA-iRN5KeRI Reimu could be seen huddled into a thick blanket within the abode of Cirno, desperately trying to keep herself warm despite the frozen atmosphere inside. The night had not been kind of Reimu, as she did not expect to have to sleep inside a refrigerator, and the only thing she wanted was to take a nice long soak in a hot bath, or in some hot springs. Cirno, on the otherhand, looked completely fresh from her rest and was already hyped up for the day ahead. It seemed like the plan for the day would be to move to the Scarlet Devil Mansion and attempt to gather any info from the dwellers within. As they prepared to set off on their journey, Cirno said her goodbyes to Winston, Grayson, Fredrick, Elizabeth and Cassandra and promised them that she would return to them in due time. The smiles of the snowmen reflected the trust they had in Cirno and she gave them one last salute before turning her back to them. Reimu, who was concentrating her mind and body, ignored the silly games of the ice fairy and prepared to summon forth a powerful border to lay down in the area. As she finished reciting the spell, a thin ring of mana shot out in all directions from where Reimu was standing before dissipating into the environment. Satisfied with the spell, she called out to Cirno and the two of them departed, with the hailstorm in tow. After several hours of walking, they reached the mansion’s gate and asked Hong if they could enter inside the mansion. Hong offered an apology to the travelers that there was an incident going on within the mansion and then she couldn’t let anyone inside. She did, however, allow the two to rest up in her gatehouse. Cirno, while grateful, was slightly bummed that she couldn’t enjoy the coolness of her home house. Reimu, on the other hand, was quite happy that Hong was willing to cooperate with her again. The three spent the rest of the day chatting away at frivolous items of business, but were very happy to have time together. |

Reimu 9: http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=B3_9dHxu7ig Reimu and Cirno decided to spend another day at Hong’s gatehouse, unwilling to travel elsewhere. Reimu and Cirno insisted on going inside to the mansion to see Remilia and the others, but Hong told them that due to an incident occuring within, no one could be permitted inside at any costs. As a result, the day turned out to be a rather boring one, although Reimu and Cirno couldn’t help but feel like they saw a different pair of travelers in the sky coming from the west going into the Scarlet Devil Mansion. They questioned Hong on what they believed to see, but Hong denied any possibility that anyone could have entered the mansion. Was what the two saw merely a trick of the eyes, or was something else happening in Gensokyo that they didn’t know about? |

Reimu 10: http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=tZ2JlOpK6JY&feature=youtu.be “Gah, this game is too hard! It’s impossible to win!” Cirno, Reimu and Hong were locked in an intense 3 way game of Mahjong. Hong and Reimu seemed pretty evenly matched and were vying for control of first place. Cirno, on the other hand, seemed to be a total amateur and was being absolutely dominated in score by the other two. It was Reimu’s turn and she was about to draw a tile when she suddenly felt a single presence entering the Misty Lake. Not forgetting about the plan her and Cirno had, she quickly poked Cirno and spoke up. “Cirno, could you use that Ice Tornado skill of yours at the Misty Lake right now?” “Ehhhh? You’re just trying to trick me so you can look at my tiles while I’m casting the spell! I’m not falling for a stupid trick like that! I’m no idiot!” “Cirno, I-” “No! Go back to playing!” Reimu sighed and drew a tile. Jeez, fine. Don’t listen to me you idiot fairy. “Riiche.” Hong seemed surprised at the luck that Reimu always exhibited at the most crucial moments. “Jeez, how am I supposed to beat someone who always seems to get whatever they need whenever they want it?” Cirno, who was next to play, nervously drew a tile before quickly deciding that she didn’t want it and laid it down. “Ron.” “Are you serious?!” Damn, apparently there’s four total people now? “It looks like that takes out the rest of your points Cirno. Better luck next time. Hong, I think I’ll be heading out now. Thanks for letting me stay here for the past couple of days.” “Not a problem! Come back soon!” “W-Wait you’re leaving? What about m-?” Before she could finish, Reimu had closed the door, not letting in the cold air from the hailstorm enter the house. Seeing that time was of the essence, Reimu decided to make haste to the Forest of Magic, hoping to put some ground between the four people she felt at the Misty Lake. Jeez, looks like they’re on to me. Better get out of here while I still can. |

Reimu 12: http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=wyj3-vGiVi0&feature=youtu.be A change at the Scarlet Devil Mansion...I guess I can’t afford to stay here. I wonder what the hell is going on there... Reimu quickly packed some belongings with her, eager to leave the shrine and the potential fighting that could occur if she stayed. Before leaving, she couldn’t help but notice that while Yukari said she would watch over the shrine, it had seemed like no one had entered the inside of the shrine since the last time Reimu had stopped here. Figures that she would lie about something like that. Oh well, I don’t have time to draw her out. Time to take my leave. After a short trip, Reimu arrived back at Rinnosuke’s Item Shop, weary from the constant traveling that she had been doing for the past few days. “Ah, Reimu, welcome...if you don’t mind me saying...you look quite exhausted. Is everything ok?” “Hm? Oh, yes, no need to worry about me. Just a little rundown from walking so much these past few days.” “I see...well...since you’re here, why don’t you relax inside for the rest of today at least? I just got more oil for my heater, so it should be nice and warm inside. Ah, I also have some stew cooking, let me grab you some.” Reimu smiled, glad to be able to take a short break and refresh her body and mind. “Thanks, Rinnosuke. I don’t know what I’d do without you.” “Don’t worry about it. It’s my job to make sure that everyone participating is taken care of. Relax for now.” “Will do.” Reimu and Rinnosuke went inside, where the two shared a fairly simple tonight before retiring for the night. Perhaps it was because it was the first night in a while where she wasn’t alone, but Reimu was able to fall fast asleep and be rejuvenated for the next day. |

Reimu 13: (Continue Music) “Fwaaah...that was a good sleep. Glad I stopped here.” Reimu arose from bed, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes and quickly went to take a hot bath, thankful of the many commodities that Rinnosuke had to offer. So nice...how can he have hot water all the time like this? After soaking for an hour or so, Reimu decided that she should start her day, got dressed and headed out into the main room of the shop, where Rinnosuke was in his usual spot behind the counter, reading one of his many books. “Good morning, Rinnosuke.” “Oh, good morning Reimu, did you sleep well?” “Yes, very well.” “Good, good. I’ve made some breakfast, it should be sitting on the table.” “Wow, thank you! I was starving!” “Not a problem. Like I said, it’s my job to make sure you’re all taken care of, especially since the other person doesn’t seem to care too much...” “Other person...you mean whoever is calling themselves the Game Master?” “Eh? ...Yeah...” “If I may...who is this Game Master? I have a couple hunches but nothing conclusive to act on. I’d like to meet them and give them a piece of my mind, if I may speak frankly.” “Haha, I know what you mean. Sadly, I’m not at liberty to say. I have myself to think about too, you know?” “You mean they’re threatening you?! The nerve!” “It’s ok, I don’t mind it too much. I’ve gotten to see a bunch of you guys again and it’s been worth it just for that, even if all give me trouble sometimes.” “I see...well if you don’t mind, then I won’t worry too much...thank you for the food!” Reimu brushed off her concerns for the moment to enjoy the meal that Rinnosuke had prepared for her, savoring every bite of the home cooked meal while drinking some fine tea that was prepared in addition to the food. “Sooo good...” “Hahaha...I’m glad you think so.” “Well...I hate to say it, but I should probably make my preparations for the day.” “I suppose I could understand why...make sure to take care of yourself!” “Of course! I’m the Hakurei Shrine Maiden, I have to!” “...Don’t push yourself too hard.” “Hey now, you don’t need to worry so much. I’ll be fine...” “Alright, alright, sorry. Well, I don’t want to get in your way. Good luck.” “Thanks! I’m sure we’ll see each other again soon enough!” After grabbing her items, Reimu stepped outside and assessed her situation before taking action. Let’s see...according to Rinnosuke, three more players were eliminated...I can probably afford to ease up for the moment...and I probably don’t need those borders anymore, considering where I’m at. After dismissing the borders at the Forest of Magic and the Hakurei Shrine and leaving a state of extreme focus, Reimu chanted a short spell and released a Permanent Border at her current location, followed by absorbing some mana to recover from the spell. There...that should do. ...! Another change at the Scarlet Devil Mansion...well, I’ll put some more distance between myself and there then. Feeling recovered thanks to Rinnosuke, Reimu left the shop and headed southwest towards the Human Village, seeing if some acquaintances she knew there had any clues regarding the war or the culprit. Let’s see...it’s getting late so I’ll see Akyu tomorrow...I can probably visit Keine tonight though. After walking through the village for a few minutes, Reimu stopped in front of what appeared to a school building. After knocking and not hearing a response, Reimu let herself in. “Excuse me...” The room inside was empty and darkened, giving the impression that Reimu had been too late and would be unable to meet up with her first intended target...however... “Hey, who’s trying to sneak into the school! Come on out!” “Ah, Keine! Is that you?” “...? Reimu? What are you doing here?” Half-beast of Knowledge and History: Keine Kamishirasa ![]() “Well...you see...” Reimu began to speak of everything occurring in Gensokyo for a several minutes before she was stopped by Keine, who realized that this would take a while and offered to let Reimu spend the night at her place while discussing the war. After a short dinner, Keine offered her thoughts regarding everything she had been told. “I’m sorry to say this...but it seems like this is the first I’ve heard of this war. But there have been rumors of some strange event going on around the village...so this might be what you’re talking about. Have you spoken with Akyu?” “No, I planned on going to see her tomorrow.” “I see...well, in any case, we can go see her tomorrow. For tonight, let’s rest up. I’ll continue milling over what you’ve said. It’s all very suspicious...and you think she might be involved?” “Well, I have no proof unfortunately...it’s all just intuition.” “For you, that basically is hard evidence.” “Hey, I hate to say it, but even my intuition has been wrong in the past...” “Hmmm...well, we’ll talk with Akyu soon enough, let’s hear her thoughts on the matter.” “Sure. Good night then.” “You too, sleep well.” Edited by Soul Devour, Feb 19 2012, 03:12 AM.

Reimu 14: (Continue Music) “So that’s everything...have you ever anything at all Akyu?” Memory of Gensokyo: Hieda no Akyu ![]() “My...I didn’t expect to hear about the war again from one of its participants.” “Eh? Someone else was here? Who?” “Well, it was nearly two weeks ago, but Miss Youmu Konpaku had stopped to talk to me about the same subject. I unfortunately don’t know too much more since then...but I have heard that this war isn’t what it seems...something about it is fabricated...I can’t say what though.” “...A fake war? So what exactly are we fighting for?” “I don’t know...even now, I lack knowledge I desperately would love to have. All I can really say is to be careful...whoever the culprit is, they may have some ulterior motives.” “Hmm...it wouldn’t be the first time for her...alright. Thanks, Akyu, it may not seem like much but you were definitely a big help.” “Hm? Are you leaving already?” “Yes, I need to gather need information, if at all possible. Keine, thanks again for letting me stay over.” “Not a problem, good luck!” Reimu nodded to the two ladies and departed for the Myouren Temple, eager to continue learning more about the ‘false-war’ that Akyu spoke of. Byakuren and her crew...maybe they know something...ah right...before I forget... Reimu chanted the same spell that she had used many times before and created yet another border at the Human Village to help keep track of Marisa, who seemed to be the only other person left in the war. After absorbing some mana, Reimu quickly made her way to the Myouren Temple, where she was greeted by a Youkai sweeping the temple grounds. “Oh! You! Good evening Miss Reimu! What brings you here?” Echoing Sutra Chant: Kyouko Kasodani ![]() “Is Byakuren around? I have something to talk about with her...” “Hmmm? Well, it’s kind of late. Would you care to wait until tomorrow?” “Yeah, that’s fine.” “Well then, I can at least let everyone inside know that you’re here so we can properly greet you.” “Y-You don’t have to go so far...” “No, not at all! Everyone who visits the Myouren Temple deserves to be greeted properly!” “Well...if you say so...” Reimu waited inside at the entrance of the building, a bit nervous to suddenly meet everyone residing at the temple. Her nerves were forced to settle though as Kyouko returned bringing nearly everyone currently at the temple. “H-Hello everyone! It’s good to see you all again after so long!” “Ah, the shrine maiden...you wouldn’t happen to know how that shop owner is doing, would you?” The Little Dowser General: Nazrin ![]() “Reimu! Then you know about this war!?!” “W-Well...let’s save all of that for tomorrow...you’ve had a long day, right? Why don’t you join us for dinner? We were just about to start, and with Kogasa absent it’s been bit a quieter than normal.” “...Kogasa...the karakasa? Where’s she at?” “Secret!” “...Seriously? ...Well, whatever...thank you, I’d be happy to join you.” “All right! Let’s show Reimu a great time guys!!” And so, the night ended with Reimu and all the residents feasting and drinking, throwing away their cares for the night. Reimu 15: http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=z0yqrz4adcw&feature=youtu.be “What do you mean you can’t tell me anything about the war? Then what was the ‘let’s save all that for tomorrow’ for? You could have told me right then that you couldn’t say anything.” Reimu couldn’t help but pout towards Byakuren regarding her denial of giving out information to aid her. “Well, if I told you anything, that would be unfair to Miss Marisa. She’s still apart of this and unless you were both here together, it just wouldn’t be right to give one of you information and not the other.” “Yes, but how would learning who the culprit of the war is be an advantage over Marisa? Surely you can agree with me on that, right?” “Even still, I made a promise not to willingly say anything. If you happened to have another method that could extract information from me regardless what whether I wanted to give it to you or not, that would be different, but I won’t just tell you.” “Argh...I can’t read minds though! And I certainly can’t make a side trip to grab Satori!” “Oh, I don’t think you need to worry about that.” “What do you mean by that?” “Secret~” Reimu hung her head in defeat, realizing that talking any more with the monk would be pointless. “I guess I’ll be leaving then...thanks for treating me so well.” “No problem, you’ll visit again soon, right?” “Either later during the war or after it’s all over, sure.” Byakuren clapped her hands, clearly pleased at the response she received. “Wonderful! We’ll all await your return!” After saying her goodbyes to everyone present, Reimu went to depart the temple grounds when she had noticed that the Permanent Border at the item shop had been destroyed. ?! Marisa...dammit. At least I know where she is...I better set up one here too, just in case. With a new border created, Reimu collected a small amount of mana and then left the temple through the east exit, where the Youkai Mountain stood. After a few hours of difficult climbing, Reimu reached the top, where the Moriya Shrine stood. So...tired...maybe Sanae and the others can also give me a place to say...eh? Oh jeez, she entered the Human Village now? Is she trying to follow me? Ugh...but I’m...so...tired...dammit...I pushed myself...too far... Like before, Reimu ended up collapsed from straining herself far too much, leaving her to wonder what she would do if Marisa caught her in her current state... ”Woah, it’s Reimu! Hey, Kanako, help me bring her inside, she’s burning up!!” “Seriously? I’m on my way!!” |

Reimu 16: (Continue Music) “Ugh...” Where...where am I...? Why is everything so hot...” Reimu tilted her head and realized that she was in a bed, being treated yet again with a fever she had caught. ...Again...? I can’t...can’t get sick here...I’m the Hakurei Maiden...I must...fight...no matter what...I need to get up...can’t let Marisa...find...me... Reimu struggled to lift herself and managed to climb to her feet, although she was forced to lean against a wall to support herself. Slowly, she inched herself to the door in the room, trying with all her strength to try and not show weakness now. Just...a bit...further...I...I can do this...I’m not weak...I’m the only one...I have to be the one...duty calls...whether I like it or... As she went to go down the hall to leave, a woman in a red dress and purple hair noticed the shrine maiden, clearly not in a state to move, and rushed to support her. “W-What the hell are you doing?! Can’t you see how sick you are?!” The Avatar of Mountains and Lakes: Kanako Yasaka ![]() “Kanako...please...let me go...” “Hell no! I’m not going to send you to die!” “B-But...” A voice called out, curious to what all the commotion was. “Hey, Kanako, why are you yelling? Reimu is trying t-huh?! Reimu! W-Why are out of bed?!” The Highest Epitome of Native Gods: Suwako Moriya ![]() “I...I need to continue on...for Gensokyo...” Despite her words, Reimu’s body could not mutter the strength to follow them and she was unable to move any further with the combined might of Kanako and Suwako holding her back. “Reimu please. No one is questioning your devotion here. But you need to rest!” “B-But...Kanako...I...” “No buts! What would Sanae think if she saw you like this?!” “Sanae? ...Where is she...?” “Don’t worry about her, she’s running errands right now. For now, you need to rest. Please, just for one day! You need to treat your body well!” … D-Dammit...she’s right...but...my border at the Human Village...it’s been destroyed....and Marisa’s at the Myouren Temple now!! I...I can’t stop here! No matter what! “N-No...” “Reimu?!” “I...I need to protect Gensokyo...don’t...don’t stop me!! Spellcard...Attack!” The unsteady Reimu pulled away from Kanako and Suwako and slipped out a spellcard she had been hiding, trying to create an opportunity to escape. Kanako wasted no time and let Suwako know what had to be done. “Dammit Reimu! Suwako, use them! You need to restrain her before she does something she regrets!” “R-Right! Sorry about this Reimu...Divine Instrument! Moriya’s Iron Rings!!” Several large rings formed around Reimu, which quickly locked into place and kept the shrine maiden from moving. Seeing that there was no way for her to break out of the skill, Reimu’s resolve faltered and she again lost consciousness.... Why...why am I so weak...? Edited by Soul Devour, Jun 4 2012, 12:00 AM.

Reimu 17: (Continue Music) ”How is she, Suwako?” “Well...her fever has subsided...I still think it would be best for her to relax for another day...but...” “Hah...she’s even worse than Sanae...dammit. This stupid game...first Sanae and now Reimu. What the hell...” “S-should we restrain her?” “No...we can’t...whether we like it or not, she’s still apart of this so-called war...if she wants to continue...we can’t stop her.” Reimu slowly opened her eyes, still feeling a bit lightheaded from her previous sickness, but at least in a state where she could act on her own. Finally...I can continue moving...but it seems like they know something about the war...perhaps I should question them. After slowly changing her clothes to something cleaner, Reimu exited the room and was greeted by Suwako and Kanako, who were having tea at a kotatsu table. Upon seeing that Reimu was finally feeling better, the two gave a look of relieve. “Reimu, thank goodness...it looks like you’re finally feeling better. Have some tea, Suwako made it herself.” “A-Ah thank you...um...about this war...I overheard you talking a bit about it...” Kanako looked at Suwako and the two nodded in confirmation that Reimu should know the secret of the war she was apart of. Kanako then explained everything she knew about the Holy Grail War and what exactly Reimu had gotten herself into. “This war...is actually based off a game that comes from the world outside of Gensokyo. In it, seven teams made up of a servant and master fight each other to the death for an item known as the Holy Grail, a divine item said to grant the winner whatever they wish. However, it’s just that, a game, and there really isn’t such a thing as the Holy Grail...although since this is Gensokyo we’re talking about, I guess anything could be possible. But from what Sanae, Suwako and I have discussed, someone seems to have gotten a hold of this game in some form and is playing with the residents of Gensokyo as if they were their puppets. Perhaps they are simply bored and mean no harm to Gensokyo, but just bear in mind that what you’re apart of is all a lie. There is no prize to gain, no reward what so ever. Knowing this, will you still continue and put your life at risk?” Shocked by the revelation that Kanako had given her, Reimu fell into silence, wondering what to do now. After a few minutes of thinking, Reimu rose her head and spoke what she believed. “Yes.” Kanako was a bit stunned at the definite response Reimu gave and spoke out, wanting to know if her resolve was true. “Hey, are you sure?!” “I’m positive. If anything, I’m even more sure now. Whoever did this...I need to find them and show them not to mess with the lives of Gensokyo. If I can beat Marisa, I should be able to meet the Game Master and then...I’ll teach them a lesson!” “Heh...I shouldn’t have expected anything less from you. What now then?” “Well...Marisa just destroyed a Border I set up at the Myouren Shrine...for now, I’ll try to build some distance between me and her. After that...I need to come up with a plan on how to handle the rest of this game. But I need to win, to win and show the Game Master why they shouldn’t mess with the Hakurei Shrine Maiden!” “I guess you won’t be staying then?” “Unfortunately not, I do appreciate everything you’ve done for me though.” “No problem. By the way, if you wanna know about Sanae, she went to the Scarlet Devil Mansion where all the other participants seem to be. By now, they probably know everything like you do. One way or another, we’ll catch this person and teach them a lesson!” “Yeah...I’ll be seeing you then. Either after the war ends or maybe a bit sooner.” “Take care and I beg you, please treat your body right.” “...I’ll try...” Kanako sighed, frustrated at the stubborn shrine maiden. “Jeez, it must be a trait of shrine maidens to make others worry.” Reimu smiled, bowed and then turned to leave. “I’ll be careful. I promise.” After leaving the building, Reimu set up another border, staying vigilant in keeping tabs on Marisa and then absorbed a bit of mana before leaving for the bottom of the mountain. After a short trip, Reimu decided to keep good on her promise and set up camp so that she could keep her body healed up. |

Reimu 19: (Continue music) “Leaving already? You barely have been here for even a day.” Rinnosuke seemed slightly disappointed that Reimu had already decided to leave the item shop. The shrine maiden could be seen focusing her mana and released a ring of mana around the item shop, making sure to know about Marisa’s whereabouts at all times. After she finished, she properly addressed Rinnosuke. “Yeah...I gotta make sure I keep Marisa on her toes. She was a big part of taking out the other five apparently, so I can’t let my guard down. Thanks for your hospitality though, I appreciate it.” “You don’t need to thank me, I’m just doing my job.” “Well, I’m thanking you anyways, so just accept it.” “A-Alright then...” “Anyways, I’m off. I don’t think we’ll be seeing each other for a while, so take care.” “Yeah, you too. Good luck.” “Thanks.” After giving one final wave to Rinnosuke, Reimu turned headed to her home, the Hakurei Shrine, where she planned on stocking up once more for battle. |

Reimu 21: (Continue Music) The Forest of Magic seemed unexpectedly quiet, even for winter standards. Reimu seemed to question that momentarily before continuing her duties and laid down yet another Permanent Border. After she finished, she headed to the Hakurei Shrine yet again, as she seemed to have forgotten most of her supplies. Upon arriving, she was alarmed to find that Marisa had entered the item shop and quickly made preparations to leave yet again the next day. |

Reimu 22: (Continue Music) ...She’s just gonna destroy it, isn’t she? Guess I’ll just cancel it myself...what a shame. Expecting the magician to follow her standard pattern of destruction, Reimu cancelled her Permanent Border at the item shop, leaving only the borders at the Hakurei Shrine and Forest of Magic active. After completing her hastily made preparations, she left once more for the Forest of Magic, hoping to gain ground on Marisa. She was later relieved to find that her border at the Hakurei Shrine wasn’t tripped. ...Hopefully she didn’t head to the Misty Lake though...I need to complete my defenses... Reimu 33: http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=Wvhc15Vrx38 That fool...does she really have no intention of searching for me? I’ve given her so much time already...I can’t let this go on any longer... Reimu stood leaning on a tree, wondering what to make of the sudden disappearance of the final opponent remaining in the war. The past couple of weeks had been especially quiet for her, as it seemed that all the residents in Gensokyo had mysteriously vanished. ...I guess it’s time then...she won’t be coming today after all... The girl pushed herself off the tree and after patting her clothes clean, walked over to a backpack she had bought along, filled with many unique charms and amulets that she had planned on using for the final battle. She leaned down and sighed deeply before rummaging through the bag and eventually pulled out what looked like a giant yang-ying orb. Sorry, Marisa. But duty calls. The girl held up the orb above her head and began pouring mana into it, causing it to eventually levitate on its own. After placing her hands back down to her sides, the girl began speaking her thoughts into the orb, allowing any else wearing the pins given to them at the start of the war to hear her thoughts. Of course, there were only two people at this point in the war who still wore the pins, so the girl made the message directed personally to the only other person in the war. ”Marisa...I know you’re out there. I can tell that we still are the only two remaining in the war. I have tried to give you time to seek me out enter combat on your terms, however, it seems that you have tried my patience, my Tolerance, for far too long. Therefore, I am sending you this message. In seven days, at the end of the fortieth day in this false war, I shall cast my strongest spellcard and instantly draw this game to a conclusion. You shall find me at the Forest of Magic and I can promise you that I will not move from this place on my own power. Seven days, Marisa. In that time, this war will definitely end. I hope you’re not foolish enough to squander this last chance I’m giving you.” With the message complete, the orb fell back down into Reimu’s hands, where she gracefully caught it and returned it to the bag it was in. After setting up a campfire, Reimu sat down, milling in her head if the choice she was making was truly the right one. Is this really how it has to end? Why...why didn’t you try to stop me Marisa? Do you think I wanted things to come to this? I thought you were more clever than this. Did you honestly not have a way to try and catch me? ...Damn...there’s no point in questioning this further. All I can do now is wait for tomorrow and make preparations for her arrival. She’ll come. I know she will. Please Marisa, don’t let me down. |

Reimu 34: http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=j9U29lfqu9g Now that I’ve said such a thing, I guess I should prepare myself. Sooner or later, she’ll be here and I’ll need to be ready for whatever she throws at me. Reimu focused her body and then wasted no time in grabbing two amulets within her robes and infused them with her mana. She then tossed them into the air, where they quickly spread apart and formed a double-banded ring that shifted across itself rhythmically, causing the Forest of Magic to decrease the magical powers and defenses of anyone within. There...that should be enough preparations for today, she shouldn’t be...?! What?! She’s already entered the area?! But...I had borders at the mansion and my shrine! How did she slip past them? Damn, guess there’s no point in thinking about it now! After a minute of waiting, a familiar friend entered the clearing where Reimu stood, riding on a broom. As she hopped off the broom, Reimu took the initiative and spoke first. “...Marisa...you certainly came quick. I guess you got my message then?” “Yeah...that was pretty dirty of you. Hiding all this time and biding your time to try and win this war without a fight. I’m disappointed in you, Reimu.” Reimu scoffed at Marisa, annoyed that she had the nerve to say such a thing. “You’re disappointed in me? What about you? Why were you sitting on your hands all this time? Did you decide it’d be fun to hang over at Rinnosuke’s place for the whole war? Did you enjoy yourself?” “W-What?! I was waiting for you to arrive!” “Hah? Seriously? Do you always hope things come directly to you without any worries? Why don’t you put in some effort yourself?” “Effort?! Unlike you, I’ve been actively involved in this war! Don’t talk about effort to someone like me! Do you know what I’ve been through?! The things I’ve had to do and witness?! Don’t you dare ever talk about me lacking effort, me, the hardest worker in Gensokyo! All you do is rely on that damn intuition of yours and your natural genius level strength! You...you’re a hypocrite!” Marisa thrust her right index finger towards Reimu, furious that she was being talked down to by her. The shrine maiden could only hang her head in silence, stung by the words. “...Yeah...maybe I am a hypocrite. But you know...I didn’t ask for all this. I never wanted to be forced into such a role!” Reimu’s sudden outburst suddenly caused Marisa to take a step back in surprise as the maiden continued. “I’m jealous of you. You...you’re always so carefree...you always do whatever you want, no matter who it might get in the way of. You always go to my shrine and ask for food and drink, you rummage through Patchouli’s books and take the ones you want despite what she says, you even steal the spellcards of others! Sometimes I wish I could be as free as you!!” Marisa looked down at the ground with a clenched fist, processing the words Reimu spoke. “...Dammit Reimu. Are you that blind? No one’s stopping you from doing those things.” “Then what about Gensokyo?! Who will protect it if something should happen me?!!” “Jeez...do I have to spell it out to you...? Do your friends mean that little to you?” “What are you talking about?!” “Can’t you believe in the residents of Gensokyo? Believe that they are capable to protect Gensokyo on their own?! You don’t always have to force things on yourself! I’m your friend, Reimu! I, and everyone else, can help you! Rely on us once in a while!” “...” “We’re not weak, we’re not foolish. We love this land as much as you do! We can protect it just as well you can! Just please, don’t think that you’re the only one who can do this!” “...No.” “W-Why?!” “If I can’t protect Gensokyo, then it is doomed. I must be here to make sure that the barrier is never broken, I must be the one to protect it!!!” “But Rei-!” STOP MUSIC http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=mj_HmfC_jeQ “Enough! It’s time to settle this as we always have! We fight!” “Dammit...is there no other way to settle this?!” “Here I come Marisa!!!!” Reimu quickly reached into her robes and pulled out several amulets. After infusing a tiny amount of mana into them, she then launched them towards Marisa, who quickly created a barrier that was able to destroy the amulets that Reimu had tossed with ease. However, while creating the barrier, Marisa was unaware of Reimu, who had charged directly at Marisa and had back-flipped into a kick, crushing Marisa’s jaw and causing her to stagger backwards slightly. “A kick?! What the hell?” “I’m not done yet!” Reimu unleashed several more charms that homed on Marisa, who decided that creating another barrier would be a bad idea and flew away from the cards on her broom, weaving precariously between the trees lining the forest. Thankfully, the same trees proved helpful, as the cards themselves did not have the same agility the magician possessed and were taken down by the forest. Marisa turned to check that all cards were destroyed but again left herself open against Reimu, who had popped in front of Marisa with another devastating kick, launching the unlucky magician off her broom and straight into a tree, causing it crack at the trunk slightly. “Ugh...n-not bad...” Marisa staggered to her feet and called her broom back to her, and gripped it tightly, as if she was to use it as a staff to attack and defend with. Reimu studied the magician’s new stance and gauged her options before committing to another melee assault. Reimu led with a left palm, which was promptly blocked by the broom. A right kick was also met swiftly by the broom and a strike to the head with her right palm caused Marisa to lean back to dodge the attack, leaving her open yet again. Not wasting a moment, Reimu swept Marisa off the ground with a low left kick aimed at the magician’s ankles and once she had gotten her airborne, she again proceeded to backflip into another kick, launching Marisa high into the sky and keeping her dazed for a moment longer. “D-Damn...it...c-can’t...” Seeing that Marisa wouldn’t be able to move from her current position, Reimu propelled herself off the ground at a speed surpassing Marisa’s and quickly passed the magician by before stopping about one hundred meters directly above the magician. Reimu performed one last backflip while floating in the air and then used the momentum as the flip was nearly complete to rapidly descend. “HAAAAAAAAH!!” After a couple seconds, Reimu’s right leg met Marisa’s stomach, and the latter let out a pained cry before being thrown back to the ground, stirring up a cloud of dust in the process. Reimu was about to continue her pursue but was caught off-guard by seeing the magician on her broom, temporarily retreating for the day. Reimu attempted try and find where the girl had gone, but quickly realized that there would be no way to find her without draining her own energy. Tch...I guess I’ll leave it at that for today. Guess I’ll head back to my own campsite. This isn’t over yet, Marisa. Tomorrow awaits us both. |

The Fated Battle: Reimu 35 http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=9ymtIf1hXeA The shrine maiden had awakened especially early that morning, although it appeared that she was unable to sleep the entire night, thinking only of the events of yesterday, and the events to come today. Dammit. Where is she? I don’t like this...why can’t I sense her magical presence? Regardless...this barrier is useless to me right now, I’ll have to put up another one. Reimu closed her eyes for a moment and cut off the link of mana running to the amulets traversing the area. After opening her eyes again, she sighed, frustrated that things did not go the way she was planning. Doesn’t she understand anything? Why does she always try and get in my way? I don’t need her help, or the help of anyone else. I can do it all on my own...I always have! My ancestors always did as well! I don’t need to rely on anyone! I just want this to hurry and end, so things can just go back to normal... ...Please...just let it all end... Reimu quickly ate breakfast at her camp, contemplating her battle strategy for the day. Afterwards, she surveyed the nearby area, trying to find the best ways to help herself win the fight that was soon to come. With everything else completed, Reimu began making preparations for several new barriers, although she was unaware of the one watching her... Several hours earlier... Inside a damp cave, laying down shivering next to a strange device that was emanating a faint blue fire, was the black-white magician, clutching her stomach in pain from the damage she had taken the day before. She had tried cooking some mushrooms she had found inside the cave to help ease her hunger and pain, but her own lack of appetite and an uneasy feeling she had gained the night before hounded her and kept her from feeling any more revitalized. That last kick really hurt...ugh. Thankfully...I don’t think she did any permanent damage. But she’s so serious...does her duty really mean this much to her? I...I thought we were friends... The girl forcefully struggled herself to a sitting position and after rubbing her hands together and blowing her warm breath on them, kept them above the dim flame of the Hakkero. After feeling sufficiently warmed up, she took the cold mushroom soup she had made the day before and forced it down, knowing that going to battle without any nourishment would be her downfall. As she went to take her third spoonful of soup into her mouth, she stopped and suddenly realized that tears were falling down her face and into the soup. W-Why...dammit...why?! Why did it end up this way?! Why can’t I stop anyone from fighting?! After bitterly finishing her soup, Marisa wiped away her tears with her sleeves and stood up with the Hakkero and her broom in hand, knowing that at this point, nothing could be changed and she could only keep moving forward. As she stepped outside into the forest, she couldn’t help but wince at the fierce sunlight blinding her face. So bright...it’s hard to react when it’s so bright...wait a second! With an idea in her head, Marisa quickly hopped onto her broom and stealthily made her way back to where she had met Reimu the day before, mentally preparing herself for the battle that was about to begin. As she approached the clearing, she slowed herself and hid behind a tree, spying on the shrine maiden’s actions. Looks like she’s preparing to cast a few spellcards...looks like I have the perfect chance to act! Here we go...round two... STOP MUSIC “LIGHT SIGN! MYSTERIOUS BEAM!!” http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=kuOl-C0yI90&feature=youtu.be The red-white shrine maiden turned to see where the yells were coming from only to be blinded by a powerful shining light coming directly from the black-white magician. “Gah! You sneaky little...” Reimu, completely unable to see anything at all, rushed her hands into her outfit and tossed a massive amount of amulets in the general direction of where Marisa was hiding. The attack was highly inaccurate however, and Marisa was able to take cover behind the landscape to completely avoid the attack, all the while focusing on taking in a small amount of mana to prepare herself for her next action. Ok...gotta throw her off my location now, this should work perfectly. Marisa held up her right hand and launched a laser about 10 meters to her right where it nailed a tree and caused an extremely loud explosion, drawing the attention of the shrine maiden. “B-Behind me?! Too slow!” Reimu took out more amulets and threw them towards where she would have thought the laser should have come, assuming that Marisa had aimed the attack at her. Unfortunately, she was unable to see past Marisa’s feint, which allowed the magician to finish chanting one of her stronger spellcards and setting up the stage for a flashy light show. “LOVE SIGN!! NON-DIRECTIONAL LASER!” D-Dammit! She was still in front of me?!!? Reimu turned back just in time to witness eight magical slave familiars emerging from the Hakkero cannon that Marisa held high from the sky. After a moment, they settled down and formed a circle around the magician, with four of the orbs rotating clockwise and the other four rotating counterclockwise. “ATTACK!!!!” In an instant, the familiars, all still rotating in their continuous manner, began firing powerful lasers that quickly made their way to the shrine maiden, who was still blinded by the previous spellcard and took an especially painful blow from the searing lasers. “G-GAAAAH!” Reimu’s pained cry caused Marisa to flinch for a moment, afraid to hurt her friend any further. This indecision proved a poor choice, as the shrine maiden launched off the ground enraged and attempted to kick through the tree Marisa was hiding behind. Before the tree was completely shattered apart, however, Marisa was able to collect herself in time and propelled herself backwards, with the orbs not falling even an inch behind. D-Dammit! I just made her even madder! Guess I can’t let up! With the shrine maiden still in full pursue, Marisa gestured for her slaves to attack yet again, and the rampaging Reimu was completely unable to dodge the incoming lasers and took yet another brutal hit from the lasers. The attack caused Marisa to slow down slightly and Reimu did not waste the opportunity to strike down three of the slaves protecting Marisa with her amulets. “Tch! Down to five?!” After checking behind her and seeing another tree fast approaching her, Marisa braced herself for impact and used the tree as a springboard to launch herself away from Reimu. The pressure of the magician landing and then jumping off the tree was far too much for it to handle and it snapped cleanly in half where Marisa had jumped from, forcing Reimu to lose ground on the black-white. Taking the chance given to her, Marisa ordered the remaining orbs to fire once more, striking the maiden in the back and causing her to lose her balance in the air and tumble onto the ground, where she rolled for several meters before stopping herself. Despite the successful attack, another one of the orbs had sustained too much usage in the intense combat and faded away, leaving Marisa with only four orbs, three going clockwise and only one going counterclockwise. Not good...at this rate, I’ll only have enough energy to get one more attack off! Better make this one count! “GO! ONCE MORE!!” With one final gesture, the orbs unleashed their colorless beams at the maiden, who was still struggling on the ground. Reimu barely had time to even see the attack coming before she was struck once again and set rolling once more against a tree. Marisa looked over to the orbs to find that they had been completely spent and the remaining four orbs all disappeared, leaving the magician defenseless. Marisa stepped onto the ground, to assess if she had been able to stop Reimu but jumped back upon seeing the girl, burnt and bleeding from the mouth charging directly at her... STOP MUSIC http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=I-ldcGkipm4 “HAAAAH!” “D-Dammit!” An attempt to knockout Marisa with a roundhouse kick was met by air, as the magician swerved her body to dodge the attack and bounced backwards, firing star bullets as she moved. Reimu’s focused movement allowed her to easily dodge the attack without any worries and she moved forward, weaving past the stream of stars blocking her path with complete ease. However, as she cleared the final wave of stars, her vision became filled with a broom headed directly for her head. With a tilt of her head, the magician riding on the broom flew by Reimu, leaving only a superficial cut on the maiden’s face. “Stop running away!” Reimu pulled more amulets and sent them flying at the magician, who took them down one by one with her own lasers. After seeing she had destroyed the threat, she turned herself to make another assault to find that Reimu had already taken the initiative and was launching a kick directly into Marisa’s stomach, blowing back the black-white magician several meters before she recovered by using the friction of the ground to stop herself. More lasers from Marisa were met by easy dodges by Reimu, who slowly but surely made her way towards where the magician stood. Seeing that her magical attacks were ineffective, Marisa abandoned her lasers and met Reimu’s charge with her own sprint and the two clashed once more, broom vs gohei. The two traded parries for several minutes, neither one able to find an opening, until Marisa used the end of her broom kick up some dirt into Reimu’s face, causing her to pull back for a moment. “I got you noooooooow!” With a mighty swing, Marisa attempted to whack Reimu over the head with her broom, trying to knock her unconscious with one swing. “Such a cheap trick. This is payback for earlier.” “Wha-” Marisa did not even realize that Reimu had only pretended to be blinded by the dirt and intentionally caused Marisa to grow overconfident and swing recklessly, leaving her wide open for a knee to the ribs. Despite the immense pain she was feeling, and the sense that one of her ribs had been broken in the process of the attack, Marisa did not falter her movements and fired another laser at pointblank ranged at Reimu. The laser, unfortunately for Marisa, was only able to graze the clothing of the shrine maiden as a result of Marisa aiming blindly. “Jeez, you’re getting careless.” This time, Marisa was unable to sense the roundhouse kick that Reimu had repeated from earlier and her head was promptly crushed by the attack, forcing the rest of her body to fly alongside it and throwing the magician to the ground. The girl attempted to raise her body in pain, while coughing out some blood as a result of the blow to the head but struggled to stand and could only get herself to her hands and knees. Seeing that the magician looked to be unable to interrupt her chants any further, Reimu went back into a state of concentration to finish up the preparations for the barriers that she intended to create. “DREAM SIGN!! DUP-woah!” Reimu was barely able to avoid a laser shot from behind her. The girl turned to see that Marisa had managed to climb back to her feet and struggled once more to hold back Reimu’s barriers. “...Hah...hah...hah...” “Dammit Marisa...don’t do it...DON’T GET IN MY WAY!!!” Reimu charged at the shakily standing magician, who was completely unable to even move an inch against the backflip kick Reimu struck her with. Marisa was again knocked back to the ground and this time, could only look up as Reimu yet again went to finish the barriers. Damn...that...really...hurt... “DUPLEX BARRIER!!” Two amulets that Reimu were holding began to glow brightly, one a fiery red and the other a pure white. Reimu then tossed these charms high into the sky where they separated and formed a double-banded ring that shifted across itself rhythmically. Marisa quickly recognized this as the barrier from the day before with a major difference. So this time, it’s raising my magical defenses and reducing my endurance?! So she’s planning to make me less of a threat? How sneaky of her! “I hope you don’t think I’m done yet. Time for the real deal! BORDER WORLD!!!” The ground of the area shook violently, unable to handle the massive change in the flow of mana occuring around Reimu. Marisa stood once again, realizing that she definitely had to be ready for what was coming next. “HAKUREI DANMAKU REALITY MARBLE!!!” In an instant, the edges of the forest were encased in an enormous transparent barrier that completely sealed off exiting the area for the remainder of the day. In addition, a large number of amulets spread themselves around Marisa and Reimu before locking themselves into place and creating two smaller transparent barriers around the two girls. “What the hell?! You’re using a border of this level!?! Isn’t this a bit much Reimu!?” “Shut up! I must win at all costs! NOW THEN, TAKE THIS!!” Reimu held out both of her hands, palms facing the black-white magician and began channeling a tremendous amount of energy in front of her, forming a powerful bomb to fire at Marisa. “HAAAAAAAAH!!” “I WAS WAITING FOR THAT! I’LL ANSWER THAT WITH MY OWN BOMB!!!!” Reimu barely got a chance to watch her bomb traverse over to Marisa before seeing it completely swallowed by Marisa’s own bomb. The new bomb hurried over to the shrine maiden and quickly crossed over the seemingly useless barrier and directly at the maiden. “G-Gah!? W-What the hell!?” The cry that came out did not come from Reimu, who had managed to slightly dodge the bomb, although she still took a brutal amount of damage from it, but from Marisa, who was unprepared to see a small portion of her bomb appear in a blindside behind her from the barrier surrounding her and strike her without giving her a chance to do anything to defend against it. “Haha...like my Reality Marble’s little trick? Still...that really hurt. Guess I’ll have to rush in with mor-!? This again?!!?” Reimu covered her eyes, as a bright light had appeared from where Marisa was standing. Unlike the beam from before though, the intensity of the light was much weaker and Reimu was relatively unaffected by it. The distraction, however, allowed the magician to escape once more, leaving Reimu alone to plan out her strategy for tomorrow. Ugh...she really messed me up though. I didn’t expect those lasers and that bomb to hit me so ridiculously hard. Can I still win this...? Edited by Soul Devour, Feb 28 2012, 03:30 AM.
