Try hard, camp harder
|
Night 1 The lake was calm and still. Sarah sat on her rear end and gazed into the silky smooth surface. She had always been talented with the manipulation of water. She had always wondered why her abilities differed so much from her older brother’s, but she had never been given an answer. “I am who I am, you are who you are,” he had simply said. That was the end of it. Yet, even to this day, regret lingered. Sarah fixed her hair, or at least attempted to. Her auburn hair had been tangled beyond belief, in stark contrast to Caster’s straight and refined golden hair. She envied that. Her trek had been long and arduous; her hair had been certainly the least of her problems. Caster stood behind her, possibly thinking to herself. In the short time they had become acquainted, Sarah had learned that Caster was extremely eccentric and talkative. The peace and quiet had been a welcome gift, but that was soon about to end. In one of Caster’s endless rambling, she had told Sarah about her Aquamerald. It was truly a beautiful stone, certainly. The part that had intrigued Sarah was its properties. “You see, my Aquamerald absorbs my blood, forming itself into a Bloodmerald. I can use it to tap into great power…but it’s at quite a price. I certainly hope it doesn’t come to that,” Caster had elaborated. This got Sarah to think… “Caster, I command you to draw your own blood.” Caster’s jovial expression turned to horror. Caster started to freak out, but their conversation was interrupted by the appearance of an attractive young man and an equally attractive young lady. “Hey, hey. You two are participating in the war, right? Let’s form an alliance,” the sharply dressed man said, interjecting himself into their conversation. “Ah, where are my manners? My name is Alexander Petrovsky, or Alex for short. And yours, my lovely maiden?” Sarah studied him, top to bottom. He was clean shaven and dressed very sharply. He wore a fancy fedora and a business suit, both seemingly expensive. She noticed that his eyes were a sharp silver color which fascinated her to no end. His Servant carried a strange spear, with a loop at the end of it. Her hair was tied up into a pony tail, a mix of black and gray. She wore a blue military outfit, very tight fitting, exposing much of her legs and her other womanly asset. Well, Sarah wasn’t jealous. Well…maybe just a little bit. She was far more focused on Alex though. Unknowingly, she blushed a bright red. “Umm…yes, that’s right. Indeed! Ah, well you can call me Sarah. Sarah…um, Bennett. This here is my Servant, Caster. Say hello, Caster,” Sarah said in a frenzy. Caster curtsied in response to her Master as she introduced herself. Their conversation had been cut off far too long. Caster spoke up. “Do I really have to do that? I’d… much, much, MUCH rather not.” “It’s the only way,” Sarah replied, timidly. “Pay it in blood, Caster!” Caster drew out a small blade, bland and uninspired. She sliced at her wrist in a swift motion, crying out in pain. Little by little, the blood that spilled out from her wrists had begun to evaporate and was absorbed by the emerald on her crown. Alex found himself in a truly bizarre situation, to say the least. “We’ll be taking our leave, then,” Alex said abruptly. Sarah felt a little sad, but she waved goodbye nonetheless. As Alex and Lancer walked away, Sarah beckoned to the skies. Upon her request, storm clouds gathered about, and a steady amount of rainfall occurred. How melancholic. |
