Night 2 7:36PM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BBtTYa-2NI Pitter, patter. The only sound outside of the falling rain was Alena’s incessant humming, which began to get on Ayumi’s nerves after a short while. Holding her tongue, they accompanied their new-found allies to the western outskirts of the town. The streets were dimly lit, with many of the streetlights not even functioning correctly. Sighing, Ayumi turned to Archer. “See anyone? You have the best eyes out of anyone here.” Archer flew up into the skies. She looked left and right, up and down. After but a few moments, her neck became fixed, apparently studying what she had saw like one reads a particularly complex book. The girl flew back down to Ayumi and company, somewhat more excited than she was only a few minutes ago. “I found that weakling from earlier,” Archer exclaimed. She must mean that rather portly man who had a boring face. Yeah, that guy. Ayumi nodded. Her mind was made up. They’ll attack that man. It’s prey, or be preyed on. Ayumi would much prefer the latter. “Very well,” Ayumi spoke coldly, “We will engage this man. I trust you have no qualms, Archer?” Archer only nodded her head in approval, a big, silly grin on her face. Ayumi turned towards Alena and Rider, who had been keeping to themselves for the most part for the past few minutes. Alena furrowed her brow, and a pained expression formed on her face. In the short time they had became acquainted, Ayumi had realized that this girl was very kind hearted. She might not consent to this plan of theirs…at worst, they may be an enemy of theirs in the near future. That would definitely not be good. “I’d much prefer not to harm an innocent. Isn’t there another way?” Alena asked. “Oh, cmon! Seriously now?” Ayumi lost her temper, and it showed. “This is a damn war, girl. You knew damn well that there will be causalities.” Silence ensued, save for the sound of raindrops colliding with concrete. Rider once again reached for her sword, ready to draw it at a moment’s notice. “Stand down, Rider. It’s… fine. Everything will work out, I’m sure," Alena called out. Rider stayed her hand, but her gaze was even more piercing than it had been before. "I'll trust your judgment, Master." With their consent, they made their way to confront the lone man, sitting on a bench. Well, this is better than making an enemy of them as well. That Rider…she’s a perfect foil to the ever-trusting child Master. How bothersome. The man stood up from the bench, noticing the presence of Ayumi’s party. He looked to be slightly overweight, likely in his early thirties. He wore a plain, buttoned shirt and blue jeans, his face well groomed and his hair kept nice and neat. His eyes, however, were a different story.. From what Ayumi could make out, he wore a kind expression, though it was slightly unnerving considering his eyes. They were dull and lifeless, practically a placeholder. Ayumi felt strange, all of a sudden. “And a good evening to you all. It’s been quite lonely, these days, wouldn’t ya say?” The portly man studied their faces and soon became fixed on Ayumi’s face. “Is that you, Ayumi? It seems that you don’t exactly remember me,” he chuckled. Ayumi thought back, long and hard. Was he…? “Mr. Bennett?” A smile came to his face. “Indeed. It’s nice to see you. I certainly did not expect to see you here, of all people.” “I…had no choice in the matter,” Ayumi said, resignedly. Blake always had a way with his words. Blake simply chuckled. “Ah, your parents. I see. Well, that’s too bad.” Ayumi’s resolve had begun to falter. Blake had been an acquaintance of her father’s, though their exact relationship was uncertain. The last she saw him was several years ago, perhaps when she was finishing high school. He had always been a kind and generous man, perpetually smiling. And now he appeared before her in a war to the death, a war that she had no interest in taking part in. Alena and Rider stood off to the side, silent. Perhaps Alena’s wish would come true, and no blood would be shed. Ayumi’s resolve returned. “I’m sorry, Mr. Bennett,” she said in a hollow tone. “Archer, strike him down until he forfeits his claim of the grail!” Archer perked up, her mischievous smile returning to her lips. “I’ll show you, you weakling!” Blake Bennett cleared his throat in response to the developments. “I see you have made your decision. I must take my leave. I have an obligation to fulfill. …Take care, Ayumi.” Blake’s empty eyes flickered. On response, the accumulated darkness inside of Blake burst out and enveloped him. And then he wasn’t there anymore. Alena's wish had been fulfilled. Edited by gravy, May 22 2011, 08:12 PM.
