The Fated Day:
The Inner City of Copenhagen, Denmark:

http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch?v=LSltslDToSY (Deep Green Earth)

The air of the city congested, the streets crowded, and unfamiliar, Eveline gives a small sigh as she walks as fast as the groups of people will allow through the streets. She knows he's here. He had to be here. Not only that, but it sounded as though he could be in trouble, too. There had been some kind of commotion at the airport a few hours before her flight landed, and the description of one of the people involved matched his perfectly. He was seen getting into a cab, and headed toward the city.

Why had he chosen to do things this way? It wasn't as though Eveline had even been against him going in the first place. And to think he had the nerve to try telling her that she shouldn't come with him. And then left without her. There would need some discussion when she finally caught up with him. A nice, long discussion with no distractions. Preferably in a nice, secluded place where there would be no one else around but each other. Yes, that would be perfect. Of course, it might take some convincing to get him to agree, but she was sure he would in the end. He always agreed, even if it sometimes meant binding his arms and legs in air, first. He was so kind to her.

All that is for later, though. Thinking about how nice things would be later, while he could be in danger this very moment...Eveline quickly sets the thoughts aside for later, and picks up her pace searching. The street terminates in a rather large plaza, with a lot of roads going in and out...it's possible that somewhere here might have seen him. He's so reliable, always causing a scene nearly everywhere he goes. Maybe he does it intentionally, to make it easier to follow him? That would make much more sense. He had so much trouble admitting his feelings sometimes. He insisted she stay behind, even though he knew she'd come anyway, and then caused an incident everywhere he went so she'd know how to find him. Still, he shouldn't have gotten those Seers angry at him like that. Eveline wasn't entirely sure what he'd done to make them quite so angry, but it seemed as though it could become a more severe problem at this rate.

http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch?v=MBcCjJK-Qzk (Danger Zone)

Just as she makes up her mind to begin asking people in the plaza about it, a nearby flare of mana catches Eveline's attention. Immediately following, a Gandr Shot is launched across the plaza, aimed at something she can't quite make out. Recognizing the origin of the curse as someone in a Seer's robes only a short distance away, she immediately puts her arms in front of her face as she grasps the situation, and the response that is almost certainly on its way. Not more than two seconds later, a good portion of the plaza is bombarded by an agonizingly bright beam of light, temporarily blinding everyone except Eveline. Even being ready for his almost instinctive response to danger, some of the light had still gotten through. Had he...gotten stronger?

Eveline's thoughts are instantly drawn back to focus on the immediate situation, however, as she just barely catches the figure of a boy darting through the plaza in the chaos, and down one of the adjoining alleyways. It's him. Though she first begins sprinting after him as fast as her legs will carry her, the Seer in the plaza looms in her mind as an afterthought. There are things one simply needs to address. Standing before him, and resolving to take care of this as quickly as possible so she can continue her own pursuit, she glares daggers at the still mostly-blinded man.

"You attempted to hurt something that belongs to me. This is unacceptable. I will make examples out of each of you that tries, until the rest of you understand. There may even still be some of you left alive, by then."

As she finishes speaking, Eveline sends a single arc of air flying across his throat, severing his major arteries in a light spray of blood. Not even waiting for him to hit the ground, she turns and dashes off toward the object of her affections. Reaching the alleyway now, two more Seers stand blinded, in much the same state as the first. Not even bothering to waste her time and words on those about to die, she slaughters them as effortlessly as she did the first, slicing open their necks to bleed to death in the streets.

Nearing the end of the alleyway, a view of the harbor opens before her, along with an entire group of Seers, rapidly being joined by more. Repositioning herself to see past them slightly, she catches a glimpse of a terrible sight. He's slowly backing away, cornered between a massively-built Seer to his front, and the gathering to his back. It appears as though there isn't going to be a way out of this situation that doesn't involve a massacre. It serves them right, anyway. The entire world should be made aware that he is hers, and hers alone. They should have known better.

---End Music---

Sighing, Eveline begins concentrating the mana necessary to erect a Bounded Field strong enough to give her complete dominion over the winds in the area, but before she even begins to form the structure, the battle shifts due to a strange development. The air suddenly grows dense and heavy, almost as though reluctant to move due to some oppressive force. The feeling does not last long, however, before a hideous screeching noise reverberates throughout the area.

http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=jv1ZeazyC_k (Truth)

Running around to the edge of the Seers to get a better look, Eveline draws in her breath sharply at the scene before her. The Seer he was originally fighting lies unconscious at his feet, and a man in a tattered suit and holding a scythe stands there instead, a luminescent green portal behind him. Though she can't make out the words, the two of them are having some form of conversation.

Baring her teeth in a near-snarl, Eveline begins to draw in her power once again, this time with another target. It doesn't matter who he is, where he comes from, or how powerful he looks or feels. He is not going to get away if he raises even a finger against her beloved. Just as she finishes preparing to run in and come to his aid, though, he runs forward, jumping into the glowing ring of his own accord. Her mind barely able to process this event, Eveline has only enough time to scream a single word just after he vanishes completely from view.

"Wait!!!"

It sounds so weak, so futile. She should have just run in immediately. He's already gone, the portal rapidly closing. There's no way she'll make it in time.

...

No.

It won't end like this.

This isn't how it's going to be.

That man is still there. So long as there is anything left, there's a way. There will be time enough to make them all pay the consequences later. The Seers...the man...anyone who will ever be stupid enough to get between her and her love. For now, she need only find a way to go on. Summoning a tremendous wave of air, she knocks aside numerous Seers, as she rushes past them toward the man with the scythe.

"Don't even think about leaving! You have a lot to answer for!"

Glancing over at her for the first time, the man's expression is one of disdain.

"I do not think you fully grasp this situation."

"Incorrect. I believe it is you who does not fully grasp your situation. Whatever you did, you seem to have misplaced something that belongs to me. I'm very possessive about the things that belong to me, you see. However, I'm willing to be nice. Return him, and I'll actually let you live...for a little, at least."

The man throws his head back and laughs at this statement as though it is the funniest thing in the world.

"Indeed, truly, your lack of understanding here is absolutely spectacular. Regardless, I must be on my way. That gateway only goes one way, and it is not for you. So if you'll--eh?"

He blinks, completely thrown off in the middle of his statement, as an expression of surprise crosses his face, before speaking again, this time with a slightly different tone.

"It seems...that I am partially mistaken, Eveline Levant. This gateway is for you."

At those words, the man gestures to his back, a new portal rippling into existence. Satisfied at this turn of events, Eveline nods.

"Excellent. I'm glad you decided to make the wiser decision here."

The man sighs deeply, but does go on to elaborate. "Eveline Levant, you have been chosen by the Holy Grail as a Master in the Holy Grail War. Entering this gateway in the next minute will indicate your full acceptance of these terms, after which it will close, whether you choose to enter or not."

"In other words, the only way to get through that portal is to accept the terms anyway, correct?"

"Quite."

"Then this isn't even an issue worth discussing."

That said, Eveline strides forward, stepping through the gateway in search of the thing most precious to her, completely oblivious to the surrounding situation or risks. Did any of that really matter in the long run, anyway?

After all, for the sake of the one who you love, who wouldn't go to such lengths?

Night 1: In Pursuit

http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch?v=lJ76AMDLKp0 (Ilvern Ruins)

"Summoning a Servant, summoning a Servant. Hmph. As if I had time for something stupid like that. Lucien could be in trouble. Let's just see about this barrier."

Eveline immediately heads over to the edge of the hemispherical wall roughly two hundred feet in radius, putting a hand up against it. Cool to the touch, and thoroughly unyielding. She'd see about that. Using a small burst of mana, she directs a lone blade of wind to strike out against it, testing its defenses. She scowls, as the attack crashes against it without even the slightest reaction from the shield. Apparently, it's going to require a bit more in the way of persuasion.

Stepping back, Eveline positions herself atop a nearby stack of stones, holding out her arm in defiance to the obstruction before her as she gathers in power. Releasing it all at once, she sends a barrage of dozens of wind scythes to strike out against the same spot in a focused attack, but again, nothing.

"Heh. Don't think your barrier is so good. I'm not even done getting started yet. I'll show you who's stronger!"

Drawing in a greater degree of power, Eveline begins her preparations for something different, this time a bounded field to control all the air in her vicinity, the much-feared Scythe Wave. However, as she nearly accumulates enough mana to use the spell, an outside force intrudes, connecting itself to it.

"Hey! Stop that! I need that mana!"

Frantically, Eveline tries to pull back in her mana, but it's already too late. More and more of her power is drawn away by an this mysterious force, to be used for some purpose. Realizing what's going on, Eveline scowls again as a wind flares up around her, all the air in the area being drawn right into the space before her.

"Don't think for a second I'll care about your 'War' just because you're forcing me to do this!"

Eveline shouts at the force pulling on her mana, but much of the intensity is lost in the wind, as it at last draws itself to a single point, a tremendous surge of energy rocking through the entire vicinity, as nearby boulders and slabs of rock are pushed away from the focus. Dazedly looking up, Eveline spots a single speck of green light where the center of the blast was. Looking beyond there, however, she notices that the barrier has also dissipated.

"Hmph. This works too, I suppose."

Standing up, she begins once again climbing over piles of rock as she goes out in search of Lucien. Her progress is momentarily stopped, however, by a tiny voice behind her.

"Hey! What do you think you're doing! You can't just summon me and walk off like that!"

Turning around to face the source of the voice, Eveline sees only an irritated red speck bouncing up and down on the ground before her.

"Wait, don't tell me that this speck-"

"Hey! I'm a Servant you're talking to! Rider, to be specific, though my real name is Issun! I'm in all kinds of legends, did you kno-"

Rider momentarily stops, as he realizes that his Master has again deserted him.

"Hey!! I'm talking to you, you know! You're going to regret not taking my help!"

Sighing, Eveline turns back around to face the bouncing red speck, realizing that she'll need to deal with him sooner or later.

"Fine. I'll permit you to accompany me as long as you don't slow me down, and cease that annoying talk. The only voice I'm interseted in hearing is my dear Lucien's."

As always, Eveline's tone becomes softer, almost impossibly warm as her thoughts turn back to the target of her search. Lost thinking of him for a moment, Rider seizes his chance, bouncing up up atop her shoulder as his glow changes rapidly from red back to green.

"Great! I'm sure we'll make an awesome team! I always get along well with babes like you, did you know?"

Eveline's tone is far from amused. "Don't push your luck."

Ducking beneath her beret, Rider responds. "Right! Not a sound! No problem."

Allowing the insect to come along is probably a terrible idea, but it seems like the fastest solution, for now. Preparing herself for a long and determined trek through the ghostly city, Eveline's thoughts grind to a complete halt as she spots a pair of figures standing on a long slab of rock below the section of the ruins she's currently traversing. A boy in pink clothing with red hair, and him.

Although he looks a bit worse for the wear, his characteristic sunglasses are still intact, and his short blond hair is only slightly more ruffled than usual. Still dressed impeccably in his charcoal pants and white buttoned shirt, there's absolutely no way Eveline could possibly mistake the target of all her affections and desires.

"Luc!!! You wouldn't believe the trouble I've had finding you, even with all the help you left me along the way! I think we'd better have a nice long talk with each other, don't you?"

He looks almost taken aback at the sound of Eveline's voice, but who wouldn't be surprised to hear the voice of someone dear to them in a place as desolate as this? After all the things he's been through, who could blame the tremble in his voice?

"H-Hey, Eveline! Imagine meeting you here..."

Smiling like the sun, Eveline leaps over the edge of the overhang, slowing her descent with a cushion of air as she rushes to join her dear, dear, Lucien...

Night 2: Reunion

http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch?v=R1eCXtUpTbU (Eiko's Theme)

"So...I see you followed me all that way...heh...haha..."

Lucien rubs the back of his neck, taking another step back. He always manages to look so adorable, pretending to be embarrassed like this. Choosing not to waste another second, Eveline leaps through the remaining distance between herself and Lucien, flinging her arms around them as they both fall toward the ground. Softening the fall at the last second with a cushion of air, she rests atop his body, finally takes the opportunity to get a good look at the object of her affection for the first time in months. Though perhaps a bit worse for the wear, he still seems in decent shape, and she allows herself a moderate degree of relief.

From somewhere over to the side, Eveline catches the sound of what must be that red-haired boy's voice, and notices Lucien's attention getting distracted as he turns his head slightly. Heading this off before it becomes a problem, she puts a hand to the side of his head, firmly directing his attention back to more important things.

"I was worried about you, Luc! You can't just go running off to other dimensions on a moment's notice and expect me to be able to catch up in an instant. That isn't the kind of thing you do to people you care about. I'd have told you if I were going to do something like that."

Eveline smiles warmly, but it's clear that something needs to be done, so that something like this doesn't happen again in the future. Feeling the faint tug of the bond between herself and bug under her beret, an unusual idea springs to mind...

"And you won't be doing it again. I'm going to make sure of that. In fact...I've had an idea about what we'll do to fix that little problem. I think it may be possible to make a link similar to the one we have with our Servants."

For some reason, Lucien doesn't take this news particularly well, and begins squirming frantically to free himself. Managing to get an arm out from under his body, he looks like he's about to pull himself free. Taking a necessary measure, Eveline immediately locks the air around his arm in place, effectively preventing him from moving it. She shakes her head gently, giving a little sigh.

"None of that, now. I know you love to play hard to get, but this will only take a second, and I'm certain it probably isn't going to hurt much."

"Probabaly!? Much!? What the hell kind of certainty is that!?"

Lucien renews his struggles with an even greater sense of urgency, but Eveline's eyes glint dangerously.

"You can hold still, dear, or I can do something that I can guarantee will hurt, instead. It's your choice, really."

To this remark, Lucien responds by immediately ceasing movement, as his face pales visibly.

"Alright!! I'm holding still, see!? I'm holding still!"

Eveline smile brightly in return, speaking warmly. "There now, that's a good boy. This will only take a second."

Leaning forward, Eveline presses her forehead against Lucien's. A tiny amount of mana gathering there, there's a tiny shock like a bit of static electricity, before she lifts her head again.

"See? That wasn't so bad."

Lucien looks on in surprise, gradually followed by realization. He has a funny way of expressing how happy he is.

"Wait. Wait. Wait wait wait. Is that...your voice...inside my head?"

Eveline beams broadly. "You can do it too, now! Wasn't this a great idea? Now, even if we get separated, we'll always have a way to find each other."

Unfortunately, before she can test it out further, the green light that is Rider zips out from beneath her beret, bouncing around off to her side.

"Come on, come on! I mean, I'm sure this is important to you and everything, but you do know that you're in the middle of a War, right? Let me show you what I can do!"

Eveline's response is irritated, though as before, she acquiesces to his request. "Fine. If it will make you leave me alone for awhile, you can go ahead and do it."

---End Music---

"Er, what was that just about?"

Eveline waves a hand dismissively.

"Oh, nothing. You'll see in a second, anyway."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkXJ53_u5iY (Great Divine Intervention)

A brilliant light like the rising sun shines down from the heavens. For just a moment, it feels as though pure and unending daylight has broken into this forsaken land, as a wolf with a pure white coat of fur seemingly leaps down from an indeterminable distance above. Letting loose a howl, rather than terrifying, she can only be described as a creature of majesty. As if from the force of this glory alone, hundreds of lost souls within sight ripple and vanish, their spirits finally laid to rest. Lucien, and even the red-haired boy standing off to the side, can only stare on in amazement at this display of power.

"So...that's your Servant?"

Eveline merely grins, her satisfaction with his reaction plain on her face. "Something like that, anyway."

Again, Rider pipes up, bouncing up and down animatedly as he makes his way over to Amaterasu, the Sun Goddess.

"Furball! You're back! You know there's no better team than us!"

Leaping atop Amaterasu's head, he turns his attention back to Eveline.

"See? See? I told you you'd need my help."

Rather than looking completely annoyed, Eveline's expression is instead somewhat reflective.

"Well...it looks like the two of you are at least going to be able to earn your keep. However, while you were distracting me with that, Lucien somehow got lost again."

"But...can't you just talk to him now, with that thing you did?"

"Oh. I suppose that's true. Although it's also true that I need to find a way for us to get out of this place..."

Amaterasu tilts her head curiously to one side, while Rider's light blinks in confusion.

"Er...you do understand how this War works, right? You're not likely to get out alive easily, unless you kill the six other Servants. Well, you might be able to normally, but in this place...I don't even think Furball here could get out easily."

An assured smile crosses Eveline's face. "Oh. Is that all? Why didn't you say so from the start? Anyway, it doesn't seem like Lucien is in trouble, and I wouldn't want him to get involved in anything that could be dangerous...so for now, let's try and find everyone else we'll need to kill!"

Night 3: Searching

http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch?v=5SF7IMpf2js (Kids Run Through the City)

Though the shift is incredibly subtle, Eveline gently feels something change in the air about her, as Amaterasu stands alone atop a pile of rocks.

"All set, Ammy?"

"Hey! That's the Goddess Amaterasu, to you! You've only known her for an hour or so! The two of us went on all kinds of adventures together, and fought demons, and monsters, and saved villages, and-"

"Why don't we let her decide?"

The speck that is Rider still manages to look indignant as he responds.

"Hmph! Well, fine. Ammy, you better not betray me!"

"Okay, let's try this again. All set, Ammy?"

To Rider's immense irritation, Amaterasu gracefully bounds over to Eveline's side with a single leap, ready to get going.

"You really like her, huh? Well...I guess it's okay if you call her Ammy. But I'm making a special exception because I'm your Servant, got it?"

"Suit yourself. I didn't ask for your help, remember?"

"Hey! You still summoned me! You can't just summon a Servant and abandon them!"

"Why not?"

"Well...because...you just don't do that."

Eveline shrugs. "I still ended up taking you with me, didn't I? I can change that, if you like. It's hardly too late."

"Okay, okay! I get the point! But if you did make me go, so will Ammy! Right Furball? We're a team!"

Though she continues to follow after Eveline, Amaterasu's head bobs up and down once in definite agreement with the tiny Servant atop her head.

"Hah! That's us! Inseparable companions!"

Looking mildly irritated, Eveline turns back around and continues walking. Still, neither Rider nor Amaterasu are actually slowing her down, and in fact, easily keeping pace. A brief walk through a dying forest takes them to the edge of the grounds of an old mansion, right at the edge of the city.

Catching a bit of movement at the corner of her eye, Eveline looks up to a window on the second floor of the building, seeing Lucien standing there for just a second. Eveline smiles warmly at him, as he quickly darts away, slipping out of view to the side.

"Now, now. There's no need to be so shy, Luc. Rider and I are going to keep looking for all kinds of other people to kill, since that seems like the fastest way to get ourselves out of here. You can rest there and be nice and safe, and we'll come back for you when we're finished. I don't want to risk any chance of you getting hurt. Okay?"

"A-Ah. I see. Well...okay, then."

Eveline nods her head to herself in acknowledgment, and turns to Amaterasu and Issun. "Well, it looks like we're not going to find anyone we're after in this area. Let's keep moving for now."

As the three of them head off of the grounds in a slightly different direction than the entered, Eveline senses someone watching her, and turns back to the mansion. For just a moment, she catches Lucien there, watching her again before he slip back to the side. Sighing contentedly, Eveline turns and keeps walking toward a crumbling building in the distance as she whispers softly to herself.

"We'll be back for you soon, my darling Lucien. I promise not to keep you waiting any longer than I need to..."

Night 4: A Matter of Opinion?

http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch?v=y4U0foFILvc (Foliage)

"What disgusting insects. Even you're preferable by comparison."

"Hey! How many times do I have to tell you, I'm not a bug!"

The light around Rider flickers red as he begins bouncing into the air atop Amaterasu's head. Used to this response by now, Eveline brushes over the issue as she continues to catch glimpses of the bulbous beetles with metallic shells that have recently invaded the area. Several spots on each of them pulse with a peculiar blue light. Though they don't seem aggressive, finding them distasteful is enough of an offense for Eveline.

"Right, something like that. The point is, whether or not you're an insect, there are a bunch of really weird ones crawling all over the area. Hey Ammy, how skilled are you at extermination...?"

"Don't you think we should be saving our energy for the people who will be trying to kill us?"

Eveline folds her arms resolutely, prepared to do whatever necessary to make her Servant see the light.

"You have no way of knowing if these are enemy bugs or not. If we just leave them lying here, they could end up hurting Lucien. That's not a risk I'm willing to take. I'm not leaving possible dangers lying around that could leave something up to chance. Where Lucien's safety is involved, I'll accept nothing less than absolute-"

"I don't think you need to worry about that just this instant, seeing as the object of your concern is standing right here."

Eveline, Amaterasu, and Rider all turn to look for the source of the last comment, though the voice is easily recognized. Standing there behind them is Lucien, Assassin only a short distance behind him.

"Luc!!! I told you to stay put while we took care of things!"

"So...you're not happy to see me?"

Eveline blushes slightly, leaping at Lucien as she throws her arms around him.

"Of course I'm happy to see you! But I told you to stay put there. It's going to get increasingly dangerous out here, and I am absolutely not allowing the slightest chance that you'll get hurt if there's something I can do to help it. You and your Servant should stay out of things while Ammy and I take care of things."

"'Ammy and I'? Just who do you think you're talking to?!"

Rider slips in a comeback quickly, though Lucien's is only moments behind.

"'Luc,' eh? I could have sworn I heard you call me something else just a bit before..."

Eveline defiantly meets Lucien's glare, but does loosen her grip and step back, though she stays within arm's length of her beloved.

"You have a beautiful name, and I absolutely can't see why you prefer not to use it. And don't attempt to change the subject. I'm not accepting that as an excuse for leaving safety for even a second."

Lucien mutters something under his breath, causing Eveline to take a rather aggressive step forward as she plans a suitable punishment for his failure to listen to her, but before she can act, she's interrupted by the light sound of a refined female voice.

http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=kcTxd5qQChw (Deep Blue Jeer)

"Excuse me for asking, but would I suspect that now is as good a time as any to interrupt your performance...? While the glimpse into your personal lives was most revealing, I have far more valuable things to be doing with my time than watching your antics, however amusing they may be."

Two women stand facing Eveline and Lucien. The one who spoke wears a dark robe of incredible make adorned with countless gems that glisten as she moves, and seem almost reminiscent of the night sky. Her long, black hair and cold blue eyes are perfectly matched to it, and hanging from her neck is an ornate golden talisman bearing a strange design. The second woman wears a long brown skirt and a long-sleeved blue blouse, her silver-blue hair made into a single long braid that falls to her ankles. An ornate silver sheath is buckled at her waist, and the quality of the hilt suggests a blade to match.

Immediately after taking in the appearance of the two women, Lucien steps back with surprise and turns away, while Eveline continues to glare at him.

"And who exactly is this? Someone you met during your trip, perhaps?"

"N-No one! I've never met them before in my life!"

Eveline's eyes blaze as her expression darkens. He's lying. It's so obvious he's lying. Why must he choose to do things the hard way, when he knows he's just going to be punished for it later? The first woman simply disregards the scene before her and continues.

"My name is Signa Vannevarsen, and I have decided to extend to you the opportunity to become my allies. As such, you will receive the opportunity to fight alongside myself and my Servant, as we bring about the proper course of history. Of course, your Servants are all ultimately obstacles that must be removed, but should you accept, they will have the benefit of living longer than they otherwise would, and I would expect that the two of you will have a better possibility of living through the War in its entirety."

Signa smiles condescendingly, as Eveline and Lucien glance first at each other, then back to her, their attention caught.

"On the other hand, you could remain here arguing with each other until someone is kind enough to place a blade in your backs, and put you out of your misery. It is really up to you to decide..."

"Obstacles, you said?"

Eveline takes a step forward, shrugging dismissively at the entire situation. Lucien makes a frantic gesture of some kind behind her, but she gives it no heed as she states her reply.

"That suits me just fine. You're no different. Sooner or later, I'm going to remove your Servant anyway. And you as well, if decide to create unnecessary problems. But I can see the advantage in what you're offering. We'll kill your Servant later, after we're finished getting rid of everyone weaker."

The older woman continues to sneer, though there's a hint of something else in her expression. It isn't quite respect, but resembles something similar.

"Bloodthirsty for one so young, aren't you? It seems you may grow to be a fine magus, if you are able to survive for that long. Your 'friend' should be grateful he has someone like yourself to...take care of him."

Eveline smiles sweetly, her reply airy.

"Oh, I know he should. Thank you for noticing."

Signa snickers to herself while Eveline laughs gently. Lucien visibly pales as he continues to step away from the pair. Eventually, however, Signa turns her attention directly to him, freezing him in his tracks as she smiles wolfishly.

"And will he be joining in our arrangement?"

Lucien takes another awkward step back, as he fiddles with the cord around his neck attached to the crystal he was wearing, which is now tucked away under his shirt. "I...er...I mean, we don't really need another alliance...do we?"

Assassin gives his Master an odd look, but Eveline looks over him thoughtfully as she sends her voice echoing into his mind.

"Actually, that may be best. There's no need for you to become involved. I wanted you to stay out of things in the first place, and becoming involved with people who may end up killing you is definitely not that."

Lucien nods at her, his return thought succinct.

"Thanks. I appreciate it."

Eveline smiles insidiously back at him.

"Don't think I'm not going to get to the bottom of this later."

Turning back to Signa, Eveline offers her response in Lucien's place.

"It will be adequate if only I assist you. I am Eveline Levant, and it seems that we'll be fighting alongside each other for the time being."

Turning to give Lucien an innocent smile for a brief moment, Eveline continues.

"Also, since he seems unwilling to introduce himself, the name of my dear friend over there is Lucien Rue."

"Luc! My name is Luc!!!"

Luc rapidly shuts his mouth looking extremely distressed, and one of Signa's eyebrows shoots up sharply. "Lucien...Rue...? How very intriguing."

As the conversation breaks off for a moment and the discussion looks poised to conclude, a deep male voice cuts through the air, reverberating softly.

"A rather large gathering here, is it not? If you will be willing not to raise your weapons against me, Berserker and I will come seeking only negotiations. Will you accept?"

A man with shoulder-length black hair steps toward the group from the west. His clothing consists of a heavily worn dark gray robe of unfamiliar design, and a pair of black cloth shoes in a similar state. Strapped across his back is the scabbard to what appears to be a long, thin blade of Eastern design. He looks steadily from one group of people to another, his dark green eyes tired, but not harsh. At his side is a child with short pink hair, clothed in a long black robe that reveals little of her features. Something in her eyes hints at an inner madness that lies just below her somewhat simple exterior.

Signa reacts first, her smile warm.

"I would be pleased to accept your offer. I am Signa Vannevarsen, head of the Vannevarsen house of Seers. I am willing to join forces with you until such a time as we have slain the Servants of those that fate has chosen not to be present at this fortunate meeting. Eveline, will you be joining as well?"

Giving a single curt nod, Eveline also steps forward to greet the strange pair.

"Like she said, I'm Eveline. I'll eventually come to kill your Servant anyway, but I'm willing to crush what opposition remains through our force of numbers until it's really necessary for me to come after you."

Though the man seems somewhat taken aback by Eveline's incredibly direct response, he replies with an even tone.

"Very well, then. I'll accept both your offers. My name is Enlai Xue. Should we not get down to business, then?"

Eveline shrugs indifferently, not seeming to care much one way or the other. Signa, however, shakes her head slightly.

"No. I will require a short break before we begin detailed negotiations. I do hope this will be acceptable to the rest of you?"

Though her pitch is suggestive of a question, Signa's tone carries an edge that suggests otherwise. There's no harm in waiting a bit longer to start the discussion, and Eveline shrugs again and nods her assent. Enlai does so as well, with visibly more reluctance.

"Very well, then. I will be ready when you are, Miss Vannevarsen." Sighing, he turns to Eveline. "Also, ah, I'm afraid I didn't quite catch your family name..."

Eveline tilts her head slightly, not following his logic. "Is Eveline not a good enough name for you?"

Enlai holds out his arms to his sides slightly, appearing somehow bewildered at this response. "Well, It's just that...I do not feel as though I would be paying you your due respect, addressing you so informally."

Eveline frowns slightly, considering this idea. There doesn't appear to be any obvious harm in it, though the concept still appears strange to er. There's no sense appearing confused or faltering around a future enemy, though. With that thought in mind, she offers her reply confidently. "Alright. You can address me as Levant, then."

"Thank you very much, Miss Levant. I am most appreciative of it. Due Respect holds a great deal of importance for me."

Having satisfied Enlai, Eveline turns slightly and catches a disturbing sight at the corner of her vision. Spinning around, she finds Signa resting her right hand on Lucien's shoulder, staring at him intently. How dare she.

"Signa! You will remove your hand from Lucien this instant!!"

Signa glares at Lucien for a moment longer before withdrawing her arm and stepping away. "Do not misunderstand, Eveline. That boy and I have other business between us, to be settled between us. It need not be handled just this instant, though. I can be patient when necessity demands it. Mark my words, though. Our business will be settled in due time."

Eveline sends a concerned thought to Lucien, as she glares at Signa.

"Are you alright? She didn't do anything to you, did she?"

"Yes. N-No. S-She didn't do anything..."

"Fine then. I am absolutely getting to the bottom of this later, though. You're going to explain to me what this is all about.

Following the brief delay, Eveline speaks again. "If you have something to settle with him...I suppose I'll allow it. But you are not to lay another finger on him. Do I make myself clear?"

Signa laughs melodically. "You make yourself quite clear, but whether or not I will abide by your restriction is entirely dependent on how willing he will be to cooperate with me. If the boy decides to be unreasonable, I will make no promises."

Eveline snarls at Signa, while the older woman simply sneers condescendingly. Before either can escalate the situation, though, Lucien's uncertain voice comes from off to the side.

"Hey...has anyone seen Assassin around? She was just here a moment ago."

"""She?"""

Eveline, Signa, and Saber all turn to look at Lucien in different degrees of mutual bewilderment. Eveline recovers her composure first, speaking very slowly.

"Lucien, darling...your Servant is male."

"W-Wait, what?"

Lucien's expression of surprise is echoed by Rider, at Eveline's side.

"You mean that was a guy?!"

Signa snickers, joining in. "She is correct. That red-haired boy was quite male. Are you so young that you cannot even tell the difference?"

"B-But. Um. Oh. Um. Oh......" Lucien's face turns a very deep red, as he decides to focus the majority of his attention on the ground. His muttered response is almost inaudible as he struggles to put together a sentence. "I, er, I knew that...just saying that..."

Looking up, Lucien brightens somewhat. "Yeah, that's it! I was trying to trick all of you! I guess it didn't work, though. But it was still a good plan...right?"

Saber looks at him oddly. "Well, I do suppose that there might be some merit to that plan, if you had been going out of your way to conceal his true name, or had taken steps to hide his appearance. But there is no way we could possibly have mistaken that boy for a woman."

Silently, Eveline and Signa nod in agreement, joined in by Enlai.

"They are right, you know. One should be able to tell the difference between a man and a woman. It's just something people should be capable of."

Saber tilts her head slightly at Enlai. "That seems like a reasonable assessment, but if that is the case, perhaps you would be able to assist me on a small matter? What is Berserker's gender? I must confess, I have been unable to discern it myself simply by observing your Servant."

All attention is suddenly diverted to Berserker, as she runs about the area allowing the mouth on her sword to devour the souls too slow or foolish to get out of her way. Though the Servant has both masculine and feminine features, no one seems readily capable of answering the question. Eveline, Rider, Lucien, Signa, and Saber all lean in, awaiting Enlai's response.

"Well, Berserker is obviously... That is, my Servant is definitely..."

"I should think it's obvious, isn't it?" Shifting the focus of attention once again, the figure of Assassin emerges as if from nowhere, his tone bright.

Signa gives him a highly skeptical look. "It is?"

"Yes, of course. But I'm sure a lady of your stature only feigns ignorance for the sake of the rest of us commoners. You needn't be so modest, when it's really plain as day."

Signa looks mildly confused for a second, but her customary arrogant expression returns in a moment as she manges to respond, "Well...of course we knew all along. It truly kills the joy of mocking everyone to have it so clearly presented."

Saber looks even less sure, though Signa elbows her in the ribs as she opens her mouth to speak. Ignoring them both, Assassin continues.

"I'm surprised, though. I had expected that the alliance would be farther along discussing their plans for victory, rather than debating something silly like this."

Clearing his throat somewhat loudly, Enlai seizes the opening. "Indeed, I had suggested that we do as much earlier...was there anyone who had anything else to do first?"

Several awkward seconds of silence pass before Eveline suggests a plan to start the discussion, while Lucien and Assassin quietly slip away into the building nearby...

Night 5:

Eveline gives a brief sigh, as she walks alongside the ruins of a massive skyscraper, Amaterasu, Lucien, and Assassin not far behind.

Far enough. Out of range of that irritating bitch. No reason to let it go any longer.

She stops walking, and turns to face her beloved.

http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch?v=s3W61OsqJ4w

"Lucien."

His expression immediately hardens.

"Don't call me that."

Eveline steps forward, offering a soft smile. "But it's your name, darling. Even if you don't like it, it still belongs to you."

Lucien makes no reply, shifting his eyes slightly.

"Anyways, that isn't really the point here. You have some explaining to do, so I suggest you get started." Eveline's smile remains, but she sends a thin trail of air to brush over Lucien, emphasizing her point.

"H-Hey now...she was the one harassing me...how did I end being the bad guy here...?"

Eveline's smile widens, displaying her teeth. "My love, you'll never be 'the bad guy.' But don't you think that keeping secrets between us is the least bit suspicious? Especially with another woman involved?"

Lucien takes several steps backward, managing to stumble adorably. "It's not like that at all! Stop getting these crazy ideas!"

Eveline taps her foot several times, one hand resting at her hip. "I'm waiting, Lucien. We can do this the nice way, or the...less nice way." Eveline tilts her head, smiling intently. "Unless you're saying you'd rather do it that way...that can be arranged, of course."

"Alright! Alright!" Lucien waves his arms about frantically, now backed up against the wall of a nearby building. "Really, there isn't that much to tell. I wasn't lying when I said I've never seen her before."

"Then why did she say she had business with you?"

"Well..."

"Luc. Darling. Answer the question."

"Well, er...I may or may not have stolen a priceless artifact from the Seers while I was in Finland..."

"And you did this why?"

Lucien almost manages to look defiant. "Hey! You're the last person who should be looking down on anyone else's reasons for doing anything!"

Eveline sighs. So typical of him to do something like this without thinking it through. "So it was really just a whim?"

"No. I had my own reasons for it."

Eveline studies Lucien's face. For once, it's a complete mask. He isn't letting through anything he's thinking. It's almost a bit scary, and definitely not normal. Still, he shouldn't be keeping secrets. That isn't how you treat the person you care about most.

"Why?"

Lucien pauses.

Is he hesitating? Thinking?

Either way, he finally responds, "I don't want to talk about it. Not right now. Not yet. But I will tell you. Can you...accept that response?"

Eveline sighs.

Why must he make this so difficult?

"Yes. But I'm not letting you off that easily. How long do you intend to keep me waiting to find out?"

"As long as I need...but really...I'd like it to be sooner than later. I'm sorry...I just need some time to think..."

"What is it that you need to think about? Why is it so important to keep it from me until then?"

"Look...it just is, okay? I said I'd tell you, and I mean it. So please...believe me."

Eveline sighs again. "Alright. I'll let it go. For now. So that's the entire story of your involvement with that woman?"

"Yeah."

Eveline steps forward, slipping her arms behind Lucien and pulling him forward in a tight embrace. "Don't ever forget, Lucien. You're mine. So you shouldn't go worrying me by drawing the attention of strange women. Or keeping secrets. But just this once, I'll let it go."

"Ahem."

Both Lucien and Eveline turn to face Assassin, who stands at a good distance, observing them with a bemused expression. "I understand that the two of you have other interests in mind, but if we want to reach the park, we should keep moving. I don't think either of you would mind putting more distance between ourselves and the other Servants we met back at the school, as they're certain to still be somewhere in our vicinity."

Eveline glares at Assassin.

What an irritating Servant. Can't he see we're in the middle of something important? Still, he probably has a point...

Reluctantly, Eveline lets go of Lucien, and turns to the south. "Alright. We'll keep moving for now. Come along, Amaterasu."

An irritated Issun bounces atop the majestic wolf. "Hey, what about me!?"

"Did someone say something?"

"Hey! Don't pretend you can't hear me! I'm still important here!"

Assassin begins walking, followed by Eveline, Lucien, and Amaterasu, a bright red speck jumping up and down upon her back...

Night 6:

"This place...is horrible."

http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch?v=witMNVZSsuY

Overgrown foliage covers everything as far as the eye can see, all colored a shade of green so dark it approaches black. Foreign plants twist about each in struggles for territory and light, all reaching upward toward the canopy. Almost no light reaches the floor through the ceiling of plants, the entire region cast in darkness.

Assassin turns to glance at Eveline, her words catching his attention. "Is it?"

"It's unnatural. I don't feel safe here."

"I...I agree with Eveline. Something about this place is strange." Lucien's voice comes from somewhere nearby, though his exact location is difficult to discern in the darkness.

Assassin tilts his head slightly, looking about. "Mm. The flora here have been influenced by the latent energy from the souls on this plane. As far as I can tell, there isn't anything overtly dangerous about them, but caution would be advisable. There are some plants here that even I am not familiar with. I wouldn't necessarily call it a 'contamination,' but the prolonged exposure to soul energy for plants from the physical plane has led to some changes that would not otherwise be possible. They possess significantly different properties from that of their natural counterparts, yet are nothing like the plants one would normally find outside the physical plane. If we had more time, I would like to study them...there could be something useful here."

Eveline continues to stare at Assassin for several seconds after he finishes speaking. "You really seem to like plants."

"Yes. I do."

"While I'm sure that very interesting, I don't like that we've gotten too far apart from Lucien to even see him. You're his Servant, isn't it your job to be protecting him?"

"Mm. I agree with you that we should locate him as soon as possible. I had still been able to sense him when I started speaking, but he seems to have moved now."

Eveline glares at the Servant, swearing furiously. "Damn it! You couldn't have cut your speech short when you noticed he went missing?!"

"I was caught up in the moment. It is rare to encounter a place like this. You have my apologies."

Reaching out with her thoughts, Eveline sends a message to Lucien along the telepathic tie between them. "Lucien? Darling, are you there?"

Seconds pass, but Eveline receives no response. "Lucien? Answer me, Lucien. I'm worried about you..."

Nothing. Why...why would he not respond? Is he unconscious...? Is he in trouble...?

Cupping her hands to her mouth, Eveline cries, "Lucieeeen!!!" once before Assassin grabs her shoulder from behind and places a hand over her mouth, cutting her off from a second attempt. Amaterasu bristles at the action, and Assassin immediately removes his hand, backing away.

"Stop that," he hisses in a restrained tone. "We cannot be absolutely certain that we are the only ones in this region. If you run about shouting his name, you'll be certain to draw the attention of every hostile party in the area. I suspect that preventing this is something we have in common."

Eveline gives Assassin a look that makes her previous glares directed at him appear truly benign. "Do not touch me like that again. Do not interfere with me when I am looking for Lucien. What if he's injured? What if he's unconscious? What if he's dying...? I need to find him immediately, with or without your help. And if you get in my way, I will kill you."

Assassin shakes his head slightly. "Get ahold of yourself. Remember, Luc and I are bound just as you and your Servant are. I can be certain that serious harm has not come to him. As you have said, I also have an interest in locating him as soon as possible. Informing our enemies of our location will only serve to place him in a position of increased risk."

"I despise you, you know."

"But...?"

Eveline sighs. "There's no point to locating Lucien quickly if it means placing him in greater danger. I can't ignore your point. If you have a better idea, I'm waiting to hear it."

Assassin's mouth curves upward in a soft smile, shortly before starting his explanation. "I planted something shortly after we arrived here. I know you noticed me do it, so don't try to deny it. It's back in that direction." Assassin points off into the darkness. Following the direction of his finger, Eveline is barely able to spot a white-green orb through the dense overgrowth.

Satisfied that Eveline has spotted the light, Assassin continues. "We will split up to search for him, with that as our meeting place. If we cannot find him within ten minutes, we will then return here. Although the plant growth is dense, the area is not especially large. That should be enough time for us tell if he is still within this area. You can call out softly to him if you are able to spot him, but please refrain from doing anything that would alert our enemies."

Eveline nods. "Ten minutes. I'll be back with Lucien."

"Very well. Let's begin searching."

http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch?v=ClTQMfilWBY

Eveline strides off into the darkness, taking the the opposite direction from Assassin. Though she attempts to move quickly and cover as much ground as possible, the plant life prevents swift progress.

Assassin proves correct about the size of the area, though. In under ten minutes, Eveline reaches the boundary of the heaviest section of plant growth, without having seen any trace of Lucien.

Damn it! He must have been on the opposite side. Still, that means Assassin should have found him by now...

With no other alternative, Eveline heads back to the meeting place, Amaterasu and Issun following close behind her.

And yet...even though more than ten minutes have certainly passed by now, no one waits for her upon returning, neither Assassin nor Lucien.

"What...What the hell is this? Why isn't he here?! Why aren't either of them here?!"

Eveline's eyes narrow. "Was this...a trick? But why...what would Assassin have to gain here? Unless...he doesn't trust me...?"

A strong current of air begins to stir around Eveline as she snarls, but her growing fury is interrupted as she feels something nudge the back of her leg.

"Ammy...?" Eveline sighs. "Not now."

Rider jumps up and down once. "Hey! Don't just ignore the Goddess of the Sun like that! What Furball here is trying to tell you, is that she can sense Luc nearby...and he isn't unconscious, he's hidden."

"Hidden?" Eveline smiles, gazing out into the darkness. "I see. So both he and his Servant vanish, and they think I won't notice...Fine. If he wants to play hard to get, he's just going to have to deal with the consequences when he loses."

Eveline turns to Amaterasu and Issun. "We're staying here for now. As long as you can sense Lucien nearby, we're not moving. Keep me informed. I'm relying on you."

Night 7:

http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch?v=H4E5CoiopHE

Eveline stares ahead silently, almost motionless in the consuming darkness. Nearby, Amaterasu sits on her hind legs, her head cocked slightly to one side. In the distance, the faint glow from Assassin's plant provides a lone landmark amidst the forest.

"Any change?" Eveline's voice is soft, but in the surrounding the silence, the effect is significant.

Amaterasu gives her head a small shake.

"If Furball notices anything, I'll let you know."

Rider's green glow is easy to spot, but even he seems somewhat reserved at the moment, as he stands still in his usual spot on Amaterasu's back.

"Mm."

Eveline casts a glance about herself once again. It's unlikely that she could find anything more than Amaterasu, but at the very least, it's something to do. Still, very little can be seen for more than a few feet in any direction, save for the light from the plant Assassin left.

Eveline fixes her attention on that lone source of light for several seconds, before turning around to face...the plant? Was the plant originally in front of her, or behind her...? Turning around again, Eveline sees the light again in the distance.

One in front, and one behind...

"Rider..."

"What is it?"

"You see a light in front of us, right?"

"Well...yes. That light's been there the entire time from that plant. Are you feeling alright?"

"Look behind us."

The speck of green light on Amaterasu's back makes its way to the opposite side.

"That's--"

"Yeah. There are two of them here."

"Wait. Why didn't Furball notice it if there were two lights? Hey! Are you slacking off on the job?!"

Amaterasu gives a puzzled look.

Eveline shakes her head. "She was probably paying attention for Lucien and Assassin like I told her to. Since they're hidden, I doubt she was relying on her sight."

"Do you think that light is from them, then?"

"I doubt it. I'd recognize Lucien's light. This is something else. I don't like the thought of other people getting themselves involved in things over here when I still don't know where Lucien is, though. Let's get a better look at that light."

As Eveline begins walking toward the new source of light behind them, Amaterasu follows after her at a short distance. After traveling toward the light for several minutes, though, it seems no closer than it did initially.

"We aren't getting any closer." Eveline pauses for a moment, folding her arms. "Amaterasu, take Rider and loop around on the left. I'm going to keep heading forward. I want to see if it will react to a change of approach."

The majestic wolf pads off through the overgrowth in a wide arc, while Eveline continues to advance on the light in a straight path. Not surprisingly, the light begins to veer off to her right, and maintains its distance from she and Amaterasu up to the point where their paths intersect. The second light now hovers in direct view of the light from Assassin's plant.

"It really doesn't want us to get close. I don't like that. It can move around here more easily than us, too." Glancing from the pair of lights to Amaterasu for a moment, Eveline considers her options. "Continuing to chase after it any more seems pointless. I'd prefer that we could do something about it, but finding Lucien is still the most important thing right now. Ammy, you keep listening for him. Rider, you keep an eye on this light with me, and let me know immediately if Ammy notices anything."

"Sure, sure...whatever you say. No need to treat us like servants, or anything."

Eveline blinks. "But you are my Servant."

The glow around Issun turns an exasperated shade of red, but he makes no further attempt at a response.

"Er...how long exactly are we planning to wait here?"

Rider's uncertain voice comes from Amaterasu's back, as Eveline continues to stare at the unknown light.

"As long as it takes. I'm not leaving here without Lucien."

A small sound that resembles a sigh comes from Rider's direction, though Amaterasu makes no obvious reaction, still intent on her task.

Eveline flicks a glance over to her Servant and the wolf momentarily. "What do you make of the second light?"

"We haven't been able to get anywhere near it. What am I supposed to make of it?!"

"It's still been moving around, even though we didn't try approaching it again."

"Well, maybe it's looking for something."

"Or running from something else."

"Huh?"

Eveline grins. "Lucien is still in this area according to Ammy, correct? It's possible that the light can sense him too. If that's the case-"

"Ah! Then...it should be possible to tell where he is from the direction it's moving!"

Eveline shakes her head. "That's only partially true. If it's just Lucien, that would be the case. But it's possible that Assassin is still here, even though we can't be certain. If the light can sense him as well, and is avoiding both of them while still staying away from us...it's unlikely that we could figure out exactly where Lucien is. The closer we get to him, though, the less we'll interfere with the light." Eveline rests a hand on her chin, thinking. "Of course, this is all assuming it actually can tell where either of them is, and isn't moving for some unrelated reason. We can't be certain."

"That's...awfully thought-out for you."

"And what is that supposed to mean?

The green light around Issun shrinks inward, diminishing. "Er, well, that is..."

"Someone needs to be the sensible member of the relationship. If I weren't around to take care of Lucien, who knows how much trouble he'd get into. He'd be completely hopeless without me." Eveline tosses her head back, pulling her hair back behind her head and running a hand through it. "Let's get moving. If this doesn't work, we won't lose anything by trying."

Eveline begins walking toward a random point in the direction the light is moving away from with Amaterasu and Issun trailing not far behind, but their progress is halted after only a few minutes by a string of highly suspicious noises coming from nearby.

---END MUSIC---

"Ack! Ow! Who put a giant root here?! Wait, anotheaahhhgh!?" The voice cuts off abruptly, but is accompanied by a small flare of light and the sudden appearance of Lucien lying face-down on the ground in a rather ungraceful position a short distance ahead.

"Lucien? Darling? Is that you?"

Raising his head with what appears to be a phenomenal amount of effort, Lucien tilts it in the general direction of Eveline and Amaterasu.

"My. Name. Is. Luc."

Following that monumental declaration, he promptly lets his head return to its place on the ground.

http://www.youtuberepeat.com/watch/?v=2aXkC5Cswk4

Eveline gives a small shriek of happiness. "It is you!" She takes several steps forward, before throwing herself on top of Lucien and embracing him from behind.

"Ow! Ow ow! My back! My bones! My body! I need these things!!"

"You had me so worried." Eveline tightens her grip. "Every time I let go of you. Every time you leave my sight for even a second. Why do you keep vanishing on me? I even sent you a message, but you didn't respond to that either..."

"Eveline...you're..."

Eveline leans forward, her head next to Lucien's. She whispers into his ear, "Yes...?"

"You're...crushing...my lungs..."

Eveline sighs, loosening her grip only a touch. "I'm not letting go of you right now, Lucien. You're not going anywhere."

Lucien gasps for breath several times, before speaking again in a passably even tone. "Yes, it seems that way...although, maybe that isn't such a bad thing..."

Seconds pass. Then minutes. As the girl presses herself close against the crumpled heap of a boy she loves, the rest of the world vanishes to them, lost amidst the darkness.

Still, after an indeterminate length of time passes, a voice breaks the silence.

"I guess...maybe the darkness here isn't such a bad thing after all." Lucien speaks first.

Eveline squeezes more tightly for a moment before she responds. "Maybe not. I still don't like it...but it doesn't seem so bad like this."

But...it can't stay like this. Even though I want it to so much...this isn't enough. I don't just want him when it's convenient for him. I want all of him. I don't want to have to worry when he runs off, or wonder what trouble he's gotten himself into. Something needs to change. It's...probably needed to change for a long time. Was I afraid? I don't know what will happen after this...I don't know for sure how he'll react...but if neither of us does anything, things will probably stay this way forever.

---END MUSIC---

Eveline sighs. With deliberate purpose, she wills herself to let go of Lucien, rising to her feet.

"E-Eveline? What's wrong?"

"Lucien. Stand up."

Lucien rapidly untangles himself, forcing himself to his feet. "Eveline...?"

"Lucien..."

It's now or never. If I don't do something now, I might regret it for the rest of my life.

""We need to talk.""

As one, Eveline and Lucien speak their desire.
