Night 1

"Are you my Master? I'm expecting a nice payment for my services."
Before Sayoko stood her recently summoned Servant. The pack she carried was filled with what seemed like equipment from an armory. The gun she held indicated that it must be Archer. How convenient, especially since Sayoko had summoned her Servant at the top of Observatory. She made no haste in giving orders.
"Archer, scout from up here and see what you can find."
The armed girl wasted no time in looking at the night's horizon. Even if it was dim, the eyesight of an Archer was more than enough. To the far west, she saw two figures walking through the Business District. Both were young enough to be mistaken for siblings, the silver-haired boy walking ahead of the small girl while she clutched a stuffed animal in her arms. A bit closer, she saw two girls just moving into the Hakurei Shrine. One had dark blue hair that nearly blended in with the night. The other appeared light redish in both hair color and clothes, and she appeared to be carrying something on her back. Even closer still were two more in the nearby Concert Grounds. Both appeared to be wearing robes, and both had dark colored hair. Now looking to the east, Mana saw yet another pair at the Theme Park. One had pinkish hair and wore something of the same color. The other had light, golden hair and wore clothes that seemed foreign to the region. The final pair at the Arcade consisted of two others. There was a guy with white hair and a long, red coat carrying a heavy blade of some kind. His companion was a girl with short, pale red hair, carrying an equally intimidating bladed weapon. Mana reported all she saw to Sayoko.
"A boy with silver hair..." Sayoko mused.
It couldn't be him. It just wasn't possible. She quickly shook off her thoughts and focused on the information they had gained. At the very least, it would be a bit easier now. Noting how close another team was, she found the path that led to the Arcade. After placing a seal in the middle of the path, she chanted a few words to set the transparent barrier in place.
"I won't take any risks. This is my only chance to prove myself."

Night 2

"Hey, is this the Magic Net Director?"
Mana stood in the middle of the Observatory area talking into what looked like a shortwave radio.
"The prices are too high! I'm a frequent customer, so I should get a discount!"
Her argument continued on as Sayoko walked near the perimeter. Stopping at the path that led to the Cosplay Center, she placed another seal down, chanted, and formed another barrier.
"There, that should do it."
Returning to where Mana stood, she waited for her Servant to finish negotiations.
"25% discount, and no less. Got it?"
Mana switched the radio off before sighing.
"War isn't cheap, but the bounty is worth it."
Sayoko looked at her Servant quizzically.
"But don't you have another reason for fighting?"
"Nope. For a bounty hunter like me, it's all about the money."
Mana turned to face her Master.
"Why? Do you have a reason of your own?"
"A-ah...well..."
She shifted a bit uncomfortably.
"There's this guy I like..."
"Don't."
"...eh?"
"Having a lover is expensive."
"..."

Finished with her conversation, Mana climbed on top of the Observatory in order to scout out the surroundings. Even in the dead of night, her Demon Eyes clearly saw the encompassing area. Many of the pairs she had seen previously didn't move. The same blue haired, red eyed girl and overcoat-wearing girl were still at the Shrine. Two robe girls, one older than the other, still remained at the Concert Grounds. The silver-haired boy and young girl clutching a stuffed animal didn't move from their spot at the Business District. The pair consisting of a large man wearing red and a young girl holding what looked like some kind of halberd were still at the Arcade. The only change was the golden-haired girl in white robes and the one dressed in red-pinkish battle armor. Mana saw them emerging from the exit of the Southern Baccano Line.

Finished with her scouting, she whipped out her Sniper and took aim at all of her potential targets.
"*sigh* Are you still sure about waiting around like this?...So many potential targets going to waste..."
Sayoko blinked.
"Er....you almost sound disappointed about not having to fight... Aren't you mercenaries a bit more patient?"
Mana took out her pistol and began spinning it around, performing intricate tricks that impressed Sayoko.
"I wouldn't mind a little....exercise." In that instant, Mana flicked a coin in the air and spun around, twisting her arm behind her back to release a shot. A large clink was heard as the bullet impacted with the coin, which landed on the ground with a large dent in the center.
"Heheh. Bullseye."
Sayoko stared for a moment, in disbelief. Her Servant, who seemed to love rambling on and on about money, wasted her own money in front of her.
"Hey! We need that for future use!"
Mana blinked unwaveringly at Sayoko's outburst.
"What are you talking about? That money's useless in the Magic World."
"Then where did you g-"
Realizing what Mana meant, Sayoko felt around in her pockets.
"..."
"..."
The two looked at each other in awkward silence. Sayoko sighed, resigning herself to the situation.
"Can I have my wallet back?"

Night 3

"Mana, I need you to scout out the Concert Grounds, then return here with whatever you find."
The Servant nodded before leaping off towards her destination. Sayoko stayed behind and continued to make preparations. Taking out one of her seals, she concentrated and imbued it with her magical energy.
"Good...now it should hit a few more targets."

Arriving at the Grounds, Mana quickly moved to the thick overbrush of the nearest tree. Scattered across the area were a few stray girls carrying instruments and preparing to take the stage. A crowd had already gathered and was waiting. With the large conglomerate of people, lone stragglers easily stood out. And off towards the refreshment stand sat two robed girls. One was clearly younger than the other. She had dark brown hair that stopped about shoulder-length and eyes sharp with eager anticipation like she was prepared for almost anything. What looked like the fingers of a glove protruded from her pocket. The older of the two had long black hair and a very fair complexion. What stood out about her was the piercing gaze from her luminescent yellow eyes. Both appeared to be doing nothing...or maybe waiting. Mana noted what she saw and prepared to return.

Sayoko patiently waited for her Servant to return. The sound of someone landing nearby echoed, followed by Mana approaching her. She quickly recounted what she observed, including the alliance they proposed as she fled.
"I see... So what should we do then?...Huh? Do you feel that?..."
Mana opened her mouth to respond but stopped all of a sudden. She shifted her sight towards one of the dense surrounding bushes.
"Show yourself! You've some nerve eavesdropping on us!"
A few leaves rustled, and the hidden figure broke into a speedy dash across the area. Mana quickly took the initiative and leapt to a sprint across the field. Pulling out her pistol, she took several shots at the figure. But the unknown's speed proved too great, and it instantly dodged all of her shots. This was more than just pure speed... Mana could see...this figure was teleporting.
"Tch..."
Disgruntled at that realization, she pulled out two grenades.
"Let's see you dodge this!"
She threw them just ahead of her target, which smoothly reacted with a high leap. Unbeknownst to the victim, this was exactly what Mana wanted. As the figure leaped into the air, Mana caught a full view. She appeared almost mechanical, with several objects resembling swords hovering around her. Taking no time to waste, Mana summoned her sniper and took aim. In that instant, a shot was heard...along with the sound of an impact.
"You're fini- What!?"
Even after taking a shot in the back, the figure managed to teleport away, her escape a success. Unhappy with what just occurred, Mana returned to her Master.
"What happened? Who was it?"
"That thing?...That was just a waste of money...Gonna have to resupply.."
Seeing that her Servant was irritated, Sayoko resigned herself to the situation and left Mana alone. That girl though... Sayoko could feel a magical field around the area, left by that figure. Everything seemed heavier, but Sayoko ignored it for now. This was their territory. Nothing like this would scare them away.

Night 4

"This is the fourth night in a row we haven't done anything... Are you really sure you know what you're doing?"
Mana rubbed the back of her neck, still annoyed at how someone managed to scout them out the night before.
"Based on what happened last night, people are already making preparations. Is being holed up really the best course of action? Someone may have already leaked info of our whereabouts. This is a WAR after all."

Sayoko let out a soft moan, unsure of how to deal with the recent events. The way the situation was, it would never change if neither of them took any action.
"Ugh...you think I like just sitting around? One team probably knows where we are. I guess we at least know where almost all of them are, but..."
Turning to the side, Sayoko made a little chant, dispelling the barrier to the Arcade, and in exchange, adding a new one to the Pokemon Center.
"I'm still worried about this."
She suddenly remembered something and turned to Mana.
"Speaking of which, you should be scouting."
The slight tone of annoyance in her voice was clear. She was still concerned about the previous night's events, and the fatigue from that was showing. Her energy spent, she lay down on the grass and drifted off to slumber.

For a moment, Mana quietly stared at the sky, dissatisfied with her orders. As a mercenary, she understood the meaning behind patience, but there undoubtedly they let too many potential targets go free. Mounting her sniper, Mana proceeded with her orders. She scanned the landscape through the lens before coming across two teams at the Valkyria Camp.

"Heh, so the same team moved from the Concert Grounds last night eh?.." Chuckling to herself, Mana swerved slightly to the side to see who they were talking to. Out of the new pair, one had blue-hair and red eyes while her partner was a tall woman with a large overcoat and pink hair. Confident no one else existed in that area, Mana redirected her search elsewhere. Peering into the Tohno Estate, Mana noticed another two teams talking to one another. One was the same group of three she found at the Business District last night, and the other was of the small girl with the doll and the silver haired boy Sayoko mentioned a few nights ago.
"Hm... He really doesn't look right for her after all."
Inwardly, she cursed herself. These teams had been moving together for two nights in a row. Is it possible they made an alliance? If this was true, the both of them would have to tread more carefully. She wasn't exactly inclined to a one-on-two situation.

"Last but not least...."
Setting her sights on the Arcade, she found the last team. The tall, white-haired man with a broadsword was accompanying a girl with pale-red hair who carried a large blade. Mana lets out a long sigh. All of her 'to-be' bounties are being left to do their own thing. From what she could see, none of these teams were staying still, which meant all of them were doing something to prepare. Glancing over to Sayoko's sleeping figure, Mana let out another sigh. Perhaps tomorrow may prove to be a more fruitful night.
