Hey guys,

Just a heads up to everyone, whether you're a member or not (anymore), I've just sweeped our member list and deleted 7 accounts which fit the following criteria:
  1. If the user has not posted, at least once, in the last 180 days
    AND
  2. If the user has not signed in, at least once, in the last 90 days
    AND
  3. If the total cumulative post count for the user was less than 1
Any member account which fit each and every condition above was deleted and the username has been made available for use. Important Note: Please understand that any of these members are welcome to return and register their accounts again, if they so choose, but given the criteria used in this inactivity sweep, I doubt those particular users will return and so the decision was made to remove their accounts entirely.

In other news...
  • ...forum permissions have been tweaked in some forums to fit the 'global standard' - For instance, it was discovered that some features were available in some forums and areas while not being available in others. The 'global standard' ensures each forum/area has features alike to all other forums/areas.

  • ...new forums now exist for Personal Computer (PC) and Console Gaming - Look for these areas of the forums to expand in preparation for recruitment/website launch.

OMEC Games Member Inactivity
Effective immediately, OMEC Games is making a change to the way inactive member accounts are treated. Following the sweep outlined above, any remaining users whose accounts had been previously locked for inactivity have been sent an e-mail to their last known e-mail address to inform them that their accounts have yet to be deleted, even though they were threatened to be deleted long ago if they didn't return. Given that, those members are still eligible to unlock their already existing accounts without having to register again.

No threats, just promises!
OMEC Games will no longer use the "Ultimatum Approach" to keeping its member base. Largely unsuccessful, telling a user they have X days to return or else they're done doesn't make anyone feel like they want to come back. Why should we force members to be members? We shouldn't! If they want to be here, great - if they don't, great! Registering for an account in an online community is not an obligation, but a choice to hang out and have fun with others who might share your interests. The "Ultimatum Approach" hasn't worked since RSP and has continued to not work through today, where it ends.

As of today, there are no working guidelines regarding member inactivity. I'm in the process of forming a panel of members to form the OMEC Games Community Governing Board and I can assure this is one of the first issues I will be discussing to establish generous guidelines that allow new members a chance to get accustomed to the new community while thwarting username camping on throw-away accounts and freeing other usernames from accounts which are extremely inactive.

I'm interested in seeing this community grow and it can't grow until I throw out some old, flawed regulations!
