The Cog Fairy
|
Full Name: Mahon Rashvar Nicknames: He would only tolerate his charge using any kind of nickname for him - and his stature would easily sway anyone from attempting to nickname this beast of a man. Age: 36 Race: Barbarian Sex: Male Place of Residence: Gorowyn Place of Birth: Qeynos Known Relatives: He has a family that ranges from great grandfathers to nieces and nephews. None of which he has seen in many years. Religion/Philosophy: "Keep your back to the wall, and your eyes on your enemies. Just don't forget to watch everyone else, too." Occupation: Bodyguard Guild Affiliation: the Open Hand Trading Company Enemies: Everyone until he knows for certain they're an ally. Even then, he holds just enough distrust to be able to keep himself and his charge safe without friendship muddling his decisions. Friends: Mahon has no friends. Only stepping stones and possible enemies. -- At least that's what he tells himself. Likes: The ocean. Cold. Being ignored or overlooked.[yes - he likes it. Being ignored is the best way to truly watch over a situation.] Having control over a situation. Very, very cold ale - which he rarely, if ever, is able to drink. A drunk bodyguard is a lax bodyguard. Dislikes: Orcs. Definitely orcs. He has a particular hatred for any kind of sweets - it makes his jaw ache. Bright lights. Being ignored by his charge. Favorite Foods: Steak, medium-rare. And a lot of it, please. Favorite Drinks: As stated above - very cold ale. Favorite Colors: Dark colors. Weapons of Choice: Intimidation, but the Barbarian is in no way afraid to get physical. Armor of Choice: Heavy, thick plate, preferably kinds that build up on his muscle and make him look even bigger. Hobbies: Mahon barely gives himself time to relax - a hobby is out of the question. Appearance: Mahon is a prime specimen of a Barbarian. With muscle wrippling down his arms and across his broad expanse of a chest, the man looks easily capable of breaking bones without a second thought. Mahon's hair is a dark black and cut fairly short, but long enough to give him the appearance of having almost a mane. His jaw, chin and upper lip are covered in a short but thick beard, and his features are sharp, broad and chiseled. Dark silver eyes gaze out with a piercing, unwavering kind of inspection that would unsettle most people. His height is best described, simply, as "Towering." Scars lightly mark his chest, back and arms. A jagged, thick scar crosses over his right temple - how he survived that wound was left to the imagination. Special Abilities: His strength is definitely the main 'ability.' Pure muscle, there's simply very, very little chance of hoping to overpower this beast of a man, not with normal means. He's impressive, even for a Barbarian. Positive Personality Traits: Mahon follows orders to the letter. <when it's in the interest of his charge,> He can be extremely loyal and gentle to those around him. If given the right incentive, Mahon can play down to kind and cuddly very, very well. Negative Personality Traits: Mahon is very .. gruff. He is more likely to respond to a question with a silent, piercing, intimidating stare than an answer. He can be extremely forceful, using his size and muscle to scare people into doing as he says --- the only person he never does either of these things toward is Iowren, his charge - or when doing so might have negative effects on his charge or their mission. For instance, intimidating leadership of the Company would be a no-no. Misc. Quirks: He tugs on his beard when he's waiting for something or someone. Theme Songs: History: The first part of Mahon's life was entirely uneventful and uninteresting. The son of a butcher, Mahon grew up wrestling, killing, and hauling back to Qeynos cows, deer, elk.. Whatever his father asked for, Mahon would go out, find, kill, and bring back. Doggedly loyal to his father's commands, it was likely this extreme manual labor that laid the foundation for the bear of a man that Mahon is now. During a trip to the tree city of Kelethin to obtain some rare metal that his father hoped would make a sturdier butcher's cleaver, Mahon was ambushed and overpowered by orcs. It took nearly twenty-five of them to wrestle and bludgeon him unconscious, and even then they had casualties and injuries. The Barbarian was, rather than being killed, taken back to the Keep and forced into labor as a slave. An extremely strong, useful slave, at that. Due to his value as a worker, the orcs very specifically kept him alive. That didn't necessarily mean anything about their treatment of him -- the scars that lace up his back, chest and arms are almost all from the whips, daggers and fists of orcs. Years of slavery plummeted Mahon from a loyal, cheery son who's worst concern was how to get cow's blood from his leggings, to a cold-minded slave that worked for his food and his life. If he needed to strangle the slave next to him to get enough food to calm the aches in his belly, then he would, without regret or hesitation. By chance, he was spotted by an elf from New Tunaria, who seemed to have a distinct interest in him. The female elf - different than he'd ever seen before, a Renda'Dal - contacted him in the middle of the night, sneaking through the orc's encampment and whispering to him. He had an option. Go with her and escape the orcs, but serve her son as his bodyguard until a mission that he did not yet understand was completed - or remain in servitude and die of starvation or of being overworked. He chose the highest chance of survival. And thus, Mahon found himself privy to the plans of a society he had not known existed. The Renda'Dal - their plans to purify the world.. - He wondered where he would fit in this purified society, yet, his promise had been made. Mahon became the bodyguard and guide of a young Renda'Dal male, using the survival instincts that had sprung up in him to protect Iowren as if he were just another part of himself. And wasn't he, now? Iowren's success or failure would be Mahon's freedom or his death. They may as well be one person. |
