Aylora

Full Name: Aylora Twig

Nicknames: Lora, occaionally Ay and once in awhile, Twig.

Date of Birth: She doesn't know the exact date but does know it was very early in the year.

Age: 17 human years

Race: Feir'Dal

Sex: Female

Hair: Bright Blonde, almost yellow, very thick and she wears it still in the manner she has since a young age...braids with bangs. It keeps it out of her face, easy to take care of and she's too busy to change it although sometimes thinks she will. Often there are bits and pieces of twigs and leaves stuck in the braids. Most of the time it smells very slightly of sawdust.

Skin: Quite tanned with the usual slight glitter that most of her race have. She has a noticable shroud that is pleasant and in some areas a bit complicated and on her face a reddish part of it gently curves down the middle.

Eyes: Wide open and you notice the shade of blue only after looking at her for a bit.

Height: A bit shorter than most of her race she stands a bit over 4'10"

Weight/Body Type: thin but muscular enough so that you know she is active and fairly strong for her size. Her hours spent at the woodworking tables show in a firm definition in her slender arms.

Place of Residence: Willow Wood, Qeynos at the Peaceful Bough Inn.

Place of Birth: Somewhere in The Faydark

Known Relatives: Alive: Father. Mother passed prior to Aylora's arrival in Qeynos less than a year ago.

Religion/Philosophy: Although not a fervent follower or worshiper she was raised and will always been a child of Tunare.

Occupation: As her Mother before her, and before that her Grandmother and also her Mother, Aylora Twig is studying as a priest and specifically as a Fury. Also following in the footsteps of the women in her family she is a Woodworker. Both of these professions are those that she is good at, works hard with, and has always known that they would be her occupations in her life. Her training started almost as soon as she was born!

Enemies: None that is knows of. Being a rather typical Feir'Dal Aylora Twig likes most everyone and due to her young age and somewhat sheltered and happy upbringing, thinks everyone likes her too.

Friends: Aylora left most of her friends behind her when she left Faydark. Many are still in the woods with their families. Many more are in the taverns in Kelethin, whooping it up without her now. She knows of one or two who also left Faydark recently but has yet to find out just where they've gone. One of her first friends she made after arriving in Qeynos was a halfing wizard named Peddar but she lost track of him quickly. Krieve, a human man she ran into on the docks in Nektulous Forest was also an early friend. Soon after she made several more friends but none are what she feels are close friends, yet. A hopeless romantic, Aylora just knows that a great love affair is in her future but even though she is young she has enough experience to know that it may not be soon nor will it not be without its own risks.

Likes: Happiness, sunshine, the smell of the earth, meeting new people, learning new things, feeling needed and able to help whenever and wherever possible. Loves to laugh, hear and tell stories and always loves a good drink.

Dislikes: Being cooped up. Nasty, mean, crude people. Being told she can't do something. Liars.

Favorite Foods: Just about anything but especially sweets.

Favorite Drinks: Sweet drinks of any type, mild ale, clear, clean water.

Favorite Colors: Greens, blues.

Weapons of Choice: Her own carefully made wands that have a special bit of magic to them.

Armor of Choice: Leather made by a tailor friend.

Hobbies: Fishing. Star gazing. Finding flowers that no one else can seem to find.

Physical Features: Along with the shroud mentioned above she has a few other noticable features. Aylora's eyes are somewhat wide open, almost always looking a bit surprised and her smile is wide and inviting. Her feet tend to be a bit too big for her size but like a puppy she may grow a bit more and thus grow into them. When she walks she can tend to stride in a manly manner, especially if she's not in a dress. Often she has a very slight coating of sawdust on her face and arms after a long session at the woodworking table. Her voice is a bit too loud as is her laugh but she rarely giggles, it's more of an all out guffaw. She is quite aware of this and is working hard to tone it down. However, be forewarned that you may need to gently remind her to "use her inside voice" now and again. She won't be offended if you do and will actually appreciate your reminder.

Special Abilities: A keen almost magical ability with wood that is most special. She believes she is average but this is something she was most likely born with.

Positive Personality Traits: Trusting, helpful, high energy, enjoys the differences in people.

Negative Personality Traits: Too loud, nosy, speaks before thinking, doesn't always pay attention to what she should be.

Misc. Quirks: Repeats words or phrases, often at the end of a sentence, using terms like, "huh, huh?" or "yes, yes" or the annoying, "you know what I mean, do ya, do ya?" Asks a lot of questions. Fiddles with her messy braids, especially when nerouvs.

History: Raised by her Mother, although when she was real young her Grandmother was still alive and with them, Aylora only knew her Father in bits and pieces as he was never present for long periods of time with the family. She has an odd relationship with her Father. She resents him leaving everything up to her Mother and only showing up when he seemed to feel like it and at those times being treated like the king he seemed to think he was. She also dislikes how he has taken to summoning her whenever he wishes and expecting her to drop everything to travel to wherever he is at that time. This is how he treated Mother. Yet, she is fascinated, almost too much, by his stories, especially those of the glory of Freeport and the Overlord. Perhaps it is the enigma that is her Father that attracts her to him even though she resents his behavior and absences. She loves her Father but isn't sure she respects him and was taught that without respect there could never be love, so what a quandry this young lady has over her relationship with him!

Having no siblings that she is aware of, she grew up in a carefree manner, sheltered in some ways but open and free in others. She never lived in what most would call luxury. Home was wherever Mother said it was as she traveled about helping others and practicing her profession as a healer. Everyone loved Mother and Aylora. She remembers no time when they were turned away, treated badly or not wanted. Mother was a staunch follower of Tunare and Aylora was taught of Tunare from the moment she was born. However, she feels no particular strong desire to worship Tunare or any other god, it is just part of her, nothing more, nothing less.

Mother gave her a lot of freedom as she was growing up and Aylora often went off on her own as she got a bit older. With just a pack on her back and the skills she had learned from an early age, Aylora was always able to make her own way. Even when she was quite young Mother encouraged her to do this, even if "the trip" was only a mile away from wherever home was at that time. Aylora had no formal schooling but Mother made sure that she, like herself, knew how to read and write and how to handle her coin. More importantly Aylora was taught about people and that underneath it all there was a goodness in everyone.

Mother helped anyone and everyone and Aylora met many different types of beings as she grew up. When she was supposed to be sleeping she often lay with her eyes closed and listened to the adults tell their stories. She learned a lot and not much surprises her really.

As Aylora got older she found herself with friends older than herself. They were quite often in the taverns in Kelethin. She became a bit of a hellraiser but never malicious. Some may think she grew up too fast but given how she was raised it really was quite a natural progression. The boys liked her and the feelings were mutual. It was all in fun though and no serious relationships formed within her circle of friends. Many other good, sometimes wild times were had on excursions outside Kelethin with friends where they all practiced their chosen skills that they were starting to be trained in. Late nights around a campfire were often spent talking about what they were going to do when they left Faydark and went out to find fame, fortune, love or whatever it was each one was looking for.

Everything changed for Aylora when Mother passed, very suddenly, about a year ago now. Being too young to really remember her Grandmother's passing and the loss, this was all new to her. Intense feelings and expriences came fast and furious. She was quite overwhelmed. Everyone in their circle of friends came together for Aylora, and even her elusive Father came and stayed in Kelethin longer than Aylora ever remembered him doing in her life. Grief was a foreign feeling and experience for Aylora and she had little experience to draw on to carry her through it. The saying that time is a healer seems to be true for her though and slowly she is moving through this. Her Father did finally leave, giving her a bag of coin, terse advice and a stiff hug as he said his good-byes to Aylora privately. Aylora feels she saw a crack in his veneer though during that time and it gave her hope that at least he did love Mother and care for her deeply at some point.

Feeling that she no longer really fit in with her friends and co-horts in Faydark and also that she had somehow grown up a lot in a very short time, she took her Father's suggestion that she go out into the world, get away from the familiar places and easy level of comfort, and make her own way. She gave away what little items she had that would be of no use to her on her travels, had one last blow out with her pals at a big party out in the woods, made her way through Kelethin saying good-bye to all those that had known her since she was young and headed out for Qeynos.

When she arrived in Qeynos she found the Harbor to be a bit too loud and bustling for her. Luckily she had been advised, oh yes she got a lot of advice from just about everyone before she left Faydark, to go to Willow Wood and stay at the Inn there. That was easily done and the letters that Father had tucked into her bag when she wasn't looking took her to the Priests at The Celestial Watch where she began formal training. Her remedial woodworking skills were better than many and she easily found training and then work. Having access to the proper tools allowed her to create items for her own room and she early on took great delight and also pride in creating a home for herself. This Inn room was becoming something quite different than anything she had ever known, but something she had always envisioned. She was on her way!

Currently Aylora has settled in, is making friends and overall enjoying life. Her work and training keep her quite busy yet she still finds time to plan and dream a little. A hopeless and hopeful romantic she writes little love stories when she has time. Sitting in her handmade rocking chair staring into the fire in her room helps her to think them up and then she goes to her desk and puts them down on parchment. No one has seen these stories and as far as she is concerned no one ever will. Yet she is almost always the central figure, the heroine who gets the true love in the end. In her heart she knows that they're more than just frivilous stories but instead are her hopes and dreams for love in her real life.
