Hullo! If you've never posted a character bio sheet before, or have, but have some questions, I'm sure you're wondering a few things. So let's go ahead and do a little bit of Q&A, shall we? Q: What is a character bio sheet? Why is it important? A: It's a way of describing your character - physically, emotionally, historically. By simply going through the different categories and typing in your 'responses,' you give someone who's never met or seen your character insight into who they are. These character bio sheets aren't written IC -- as in, your character isn't actually writing it. YOU are, describing your character. So if your character doesn't know where she/he was born, or possibly anything about her/his history, you can still put it on your bio sheet! When you created your character, you probably thought. "Okay.. it's a she. And she'll have.. red hair! And she'll be born in this place, and she'll be nice, but stern, and .." Et cetera, et cetera. A bio sheet is a more organized, more indepth version of that, that other people can read. Along with giving your guildmembers a glance into your character, it can also help new RPers - or just people who've made a new character - get a real feel for this new persona of theirs before they start RPing them. It could bring to mind certain parts of your character's personality that you didn't think about. For instance : Did you consider what kind of food they liked? Or their hobbies? Or their favorite color? I've even had the experience where I wrote a bio sheet for a character, and realized that I was going to absolutely hate them! If you post a bio sheet before you actually get too involved with RPing them, then you'd be able to tweak them if you realized something wouldn't work, or was something you wouldn't enjoy. It's a handy tool, both for us, and for you. Q: Do I have to post a bio sheet? A: It's one of the requirements for advancement from the New Blood to the Contractor rank. So, if you're okay with never progressing past the New Blood rank, no, you don't have to. Otherwise, yes, you have to post a bio sheet.Q: What if I'm not that good of a writer on these kind of things? My bio sheet looks lame compared to that other person's! A: No way! No one - and certainly not you! - should be thinking that. Some people just aren't good with these things, and that's okay. This is in no way a test of your writing abilities, or anything like that. It's just intended to help you, and let us take a peek at your character! ![]() Q: Okay.. so I'm going to do a bio sheet. But what if I don't like the format that's posted here, and I want to do something different? Or what if I don't like some of the questions and would rather change them, or even add new ones? Is that okay? A: Definitely! All the bio sheet format here is intended as is a nudge in the right direction. You can change, mangle and personalize your bio sheet as much - or as little! - as you want. If you have another format you like better, feel free! It would be nice if you included the basics, but the reins are loose. ![]() Q: Will other characters know what's on my character's bio sheet? A: No. The bio sheets on this site are, as I mentioned earlier, not written by your character. Thus, they aren't IC knowledge. Characters don't read OR write these. So yes, you can mention that [for example] your grouchy Dark Elf is actually a mooshy sweetheart who likes kittens and wishes people would hug him more often. Nobody will know! So, hopefully that's answered any questions you might have - and if there's still something, send me a PM and we'll add it! ::A suggested bio sheet format, to be copied, pasted, and filled out:: Full Name: Nicknames: Date of Birth: Age: Race: Sex: Hair: Skin: Eyes: Height: Weight/Body Type: Place of Residence: Place of Birth: Known Relatives: Religion/Philosophy: Occupation: Guild Affiliation: Guild Rank: Enemies: Friends: Likes: Dislikes: Favorite Foods: Favorite Drinks: Favorite Colors: Weapons of Choice: Armor of Choice: Hobbies: Physical Features: Special Abilities: Positive Personality Traits: Negative Personality Traits: Misc. Quirks: Theme Songs: History: Hopefully that helps! ![]() You get better at Bio-sheet Writing (99/100). Good luck, I've done all I can! You're now an expert on the topic. If you want 100/100, you'll just have to post one, won't you?
