Greetings all,

My names UK_SPAWN and iv been working myself on some similar things in arma2, your work is very impressive and much better than what i can achieve on my own. your doing animations and new skeletons and such... i commend your work, its brill.

I just thought id come and say hello and explain that my idea for my mod was somewhat different and im not in any way attempting to copy your idea. my mod i hope will play like "space marine" but also with some multiplayer element.

anyhow, i hope we can help each other in some way and i hope to play your mod some time soon and maybe you lot will enjoy my small scale mod. (i hope to have something playable in a few months, if only space marine race. then i will introduce other races if it works out.)

As i say im working alone and have spent a good month or so learning how to 3d model(again), uv, texture, config, modelcfg, scripting, mission editing and my brain is hurting... alright ill leave it there,

Hey man ! I dont see why you cant work with us and work on your mod at the same time! We could provide our Units in place of your own for you mission.

Yeah thats fine with me, i will help you with anything i can. if i need anything ill give you lot a shout, its usually just silly questions like "why wont this work".. "oh youv used {} instead of [] ..."

Iv done a fair bit more work since that vid as i sit doing bits just about every day. if anyone wants to play around with what i have thats cool too, just hit me up and ill send you the stuff.

uploading another video of the same mission but with updated features like cyclone missile units. PS im not the best of players, excuse my accuracy and spam lol also note the commander only has the cyclone missiles for testing purposes. etc etc.

also working on a TvT/PvP mission on a new blank island, and adding my own bunkers and buildings that im slowly making. Infact i need to make some walls and simple cover objects today.

That looks nice, I'm surprised to see the animations scale OK with the larger scale of the units itself. Can you show an O2 screen of your model vs. a normal a2 unit? And also some screens of ingame comparism?

The weapon-stick-through-model on the back should be easy to fix, you just need to move the proxy location.

The custom animation thing is kinda hard to master with all the different cfgs and it will be hard to port it to A3, so I'm thinking it actually might be better to work with the standard anims, even if it means losing "hero scale". And speed downgrades can always be done, just a few config entries needed for that, Your units seem larger than normal units though and the difference probably easily noticeable.

Yeah i looked at the proxy position, but changing the positioning of it seemed to go the opposite way. iv got so much i want to do i just get stuff in game and then think "Ill fix that later". Same with changing the weapon aim/eye point makes the gun in-accurate so i just left most of it for now.

now im having problems with scripts and multiplayer like when player1 says "charge" the other guys all hear it and see message, even ones miles away and not on the team, lol.. there's always something.

My units are the same size as a2 units, they just look bigger because of all the power armor around with the hood and the halo etc. I wasn't too bothered about getting the scale 100% right, im more interested in the feel of how it plays and if its exciting to play. Also, when every single "normal" arma2 model is gone.. there isn't much to reference scale to. other team will be "necrons" for example, scenery changed. things will just be made to look correct from the players perspective, not in a real world measuring comparison (after all, a terminators shoulders come out his ears :P)

also i believe if you FLOAT the units feet up a little bit, moving all LODs up, you can make the boots sole a little thicker, and the head/helm can be slightly higher and bigger, tiny things all add to the appearance but actually its not that much different. also to save time making the model work, i just made simple NamedSelections, i don't have and foreArmRoll left or right for example, and on the model with a power fist i have no hand inside, so the whole fist is actually just the forearm.

little "cheats" like that i have been working on, because i didnt have a clue where to start with animating/skeletons etc, and i cant find any tuts online, its something you learn as you go along or at college i guess :)

In the units that need this, i have

The problem is that when the player and 4 other AI/player are playing, and you run, the sound plays, and the MSG is displayed in the chat. however it is displayed 5 times (one for each player). (its not because the other units run/follow, because i told them to "stop".)

iv tried variations to try to make it 'personal' to each unit,

stuff like;
--------------------------------------------------
this1,2,3,4 etc = [null/player/_this/this/UNITNAME] ExecVM "SCRIPTNAME.sqf"; etc etc

--------------------------------------------------
and stuff like;

(the sound seems ok, and plays only once not 5 times!)
