LINK???

To what?The hotfix?

http://www.multiupload.com/NGPNR2VHEZ

That's if you already have the original, and don't want to re-download another 540Mbs.
You just pop the file into the bin directory.

I'm not sure if they fixed getmove. But it didn't work at all in the original release.

Hay Folks

Just wanted to post this LINK on the - ARMA: Cold War Assault

I read up on this some more .. and I am a bit confused .. Quite on the peanut gallery ( yes weasel I mean you )

System requirements
Operating system: Windows XP or Windows Vista
Processor: Intel Dual-Core 2.4 GHz or AMD Dual-Core Athlon 2.5 GHz
Memory: 1 GB RAM
Video card: Nvidia Geforce 8600GT or ATI Radeon 3650 or faster with Shader Model 3 and 512 MB VRAM
Hard disk: 900 MB free space

The OFP 1.96 that I have does not need such a HUGE SYS.Req. - WOW ! ! ! :O

Then there is the "Vast 100km2 battlezones "

Now unless I am wrong here, and that could be ( as I am 50% of the time ) ...

This info is telling me the ArmA: CW download is really on the ArmA1 game engine ??

But yet the Pictures they show on the web site , are in fact OFP Graphics.

I know I should be asking the people from BIS. on this , but Some people have been asking me and some chat in the staff as well ,
about porting the mod to the new release.

If this is only the OFP 1.99 then only difference is the MP servers.
Some one wanting to play the mod with other and they are playing it on both 1.96 and 1.99 , then they will not be able to play it.

It would not be difficult to port over , it would be just the same as setting up a MOD folder as we have done with OFP 1.96.

more on this will - for sure - be talked about.

Code:

Minimum Requirements
--------------------
Pentium II 400 CPU
64MB RAM
16 bit DirectX compatible Soundcard
DirectX 8.0 compatible 3D graphics card with 16Mb RAM
800Mb Hard Drive space (after installation)

Recommended Specification
-------------------------
Pentium III 1GHz CPU
128MB RAM
16 bit DirectX compatible Soundcard
DirectX 8.0 compatible 3D graphics card with 32Mb RAM
800Mb Hard Drive space (after installation)

That's from the readme.txt in CWA.zip.Which contains the installer.
With the exception of minor changes/additions,It is STILL Flashpoint.
It would not make good business sense to put the engine on a par with ARMA 1.

About "porting" the mod:
As far as I can see, with the hotfixes taking care of the animation issues, there's
nothing to port to.It's 1.96 with changes.1.96 Servers hosting games would need to
change though.

I have the last release of the mod currently sitting in the CWA directory,as a mod folder.
Just as it was in Flashpoint.Create/edit your shortcuts, and off you go.Business as usual.
If I'm wrong,Weasel should have a more technical viewpoint than myself. So perhaps he
could correct me.

But as far as I'm concerned,if you choose to use CWA,then just move your mods/addons.
That's it.That's from a users point of view.Development wise if you use any scripting
commands from CWA,then users need to have CWA to be compatible.Just like 1.46
Flashpoint wouldn't be compatible with 1.96.

One concern I had with this 1.99 - Did the coders involved with the edited changes; change the config; bis_resistance this could cause alot of problems for example if they changed it too bis_armacw.

I don't think so, but until I get a chance to look - it makes me wince to think of the myriad possible changes that could have ocurred that would cause a massive reshuffling/editing of Config files.

Also keep in mind - if more than 1 person worked on this new version; it's possible there have been chamges not listed in updated bullet points.

I kinda agree with Macser's point I read earlier - not sure if it was in this thread or elsewhere. Bis had this all done some time ago and they released at a 10 year anniversary. Makes sense to believe they did not release earlier until they're other titles had a firmly entrenched fan base.

bis_resistance is the CfgPatches classname of the config in O.pbo (the major pbo that came with Resistance)
Bis fortunately didn't changed that CfgPatches classname, so CWA will have no problems with addons using bis_resistance in their addon requirement

BIS changed none of their addons classnames (or nearly no addon would be working).

The only default OFP pbo that is not in the CWA Addon folder is VoiceRH.pbo that was a part of the Red Hammer expansion, because it was Codemasters property.
But this has no impact on any addon fortunately.

There's the BIS Camel pbo ( BISCamel.pbo ) that is not there, but i think they just forgot it as its BIS property.
This could lead into problems with addons that have BISCamel (that is the name of the Cfgpatches class of that addon in their addon requirement.
I don't think there's any OFPWH40K (CWAWH40K soon ;) ) addon that have such requirement, but if someone see a missing addon about BISCamel, that will be it.

Anyways, a good advantage of CWA is that you don't need anymore all your OFP CD to install it, just your OFP install code and that's it.
So you can back up easily this installer into any usb device without having to worry anymore about the OFP CD becoming unreadable with time.

Just be sure to keep your install code somewhere ;)
-Modding games will not make you becoming Hugh Hefner-
Addons makers, be very aware of this.
