Have you ever been in such a hurry that you had to travel 2000 kilometers on water in two hours?
The following orkish thing will be the ekranoplan, alias the Caspian Sea Monster!
Posted Image

This is not a patchy homemade rusty machine.. No. This is high-tech, I mean it was high-tech then but astounding to this very moment! When the outstanding russian sense for flying machines and the orkish thinking is meet there will be always fun! Ok. basically take an aeroplane and tear it's wings off, and put her on the water. The interesting torso reminds me an ork machine!

Learn it's history:

You want to visit it? Here it is:

I like Starcraft universe, and it is a well known thing that Blizzard wanted to make a Warhammer game first. But this picture is interesting.
An early Starcraft concept art representing an eldar... no! a protoss against a zerg. Called "Nightmarish Invaders" first, then they changed their name again to zurg, and after all from another change comes the name: zerg.

Looting can be productive. :)

The mekboy award goes to......Leonardo da Vinci!

I think I don't have to introduce this great artist and inventor. I read a great book about da Vinci's art, in it there were a chapter which showed sketches of many siege and mass destruction weapons.
When I will get that book, I will scan some pictures from it.. but I have found some on the internet.
One of my favourite is the scythe-chariot. Now that's what I call brutal!

Posted Image

And another one. He invented a type of trebuchet, which can shoot 3 projectiles simultaneously!

Posted Image

In this picture you can notice only two, but belive me I saw another drawning, where he developed this machine
Below: Giant crossbow for giant tasks!
Posted Image

He also invented a machine which can shoot down flying enemy machines!
I could fill this post with sketches, but let it be enough. Well, I must admit he was philanthropic. No! Really! He designed them always with hidden malfunctions which sollution could been made by only da Vinci, so you can stole the blueprints, you won't build these things! Need that certain orkish sense...

In today's "just like the imperium will do it" category let me show you the American
Gyrojet weapon family.
They were developed in the 60's, what makes Gyrojet uniqe, is the fact that the weapon is gyroscopically stabilizing its projectiles. Uses mini rockets rather than bullets!
Nowadays collector's choice.
Mark I used 13 mm cartridge, Mark II used 12 mm. In '68 the new Gun control Act newly described the term "destructive weapon". Because taxation reasons they had to reduce the size of the rocket. And how was it? As Mr. Wikipedia writes: "Velocity on leaving the tube was very low, but increased to around 1,250 feet per second (380 m/s) at 30 feet (9.1 m). The result is a very lightweight weapon with excellent ballistics." Nice.
Never adopted by any government, but few were used in the Vietnam War by personal bought weapon.
History is better written in Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyrojet

The rocket itself. What does it look like?

Carbine!

What does it remind you? Apart from James Bond gadgets.

Orks like to paint their weapons red!

Korobov TKB-022
1960's experimental russian bullpup assault rifle. Soviet-Ork high command found too radical because the bullpup system and the plastic housing, so they turned the project down.
Just imagine this in the hands of the soviet troops instead of AK74! As a reply to US M16...

I started this topic as a mere presentation of human weapons fabricated as ork products, celebrating the pure human creativity. I must admit I have moved on to other subjects rather than orkish things, therefore it is a pleasure to introduce a really waaagh gadget again, the Bob Semple Tank

Posted Image

"Designed" by the New Zealand Minister of Orks Works, Bob Semple, so it was evident the tank must run under his name. Bob clearly had the mechanical spirit in his veins, because they built this tankette-looking tank without blueprints or any plans. They just grabbed a tractor, shielded it with metal and voilá! "Just do it" mentality.
It was difficult to shoot out from it, because it was just a tractor inside, -and you know tractors, chuffing and vibrating and such stuff-, shooting was extremly inaccurate.
Not to mention the armour which was too heavy for the tractor, so it was slow as a snail.
Sadly they didn't give a chance to proove himself in battle against Tiger tanks, New Zealand Army saw the helpless princess in the tank and they dismounted, dismantled, restored Bob as tractors. So quite a big roundabout to put you old warhorse back to your family farm. If you know what I mean.
Posted Image
But what is the point? Bob's idea was an average tractor when time comes within a couple of hours transforms into a lethal heavy tank by putting the superstructure up.
I think they failed only because the size. If they would have built this into 5 meters tall, as big as a house and painted red....
Today this tank has become the icon of the New Zealand 'Do it yourself' mentality. -As Mr. Wikipedia says.
