"Hmm? No I do not sleep with animals." Alex sighed as he moved to rub the kittens fur. Giving a smile as he patted the bed for the little boy to join him. "Hey." Max barked as he hit the ground, glaring towards the man on the bed. With renewed determination the fox leaped back into the fray as Lukas crashed into the ground with a thud, bouncing across the hard wood towards the female in ways that fleshy beings should not bounce. "Dogs." Alex sighed as he gazed longingly at them, the innocence. That was what he missed more than anything, that longing burned... |

Devlin took his shoes off and kicked them under the bed. He then laid down next to Alex. Alice mewed, rubbed briefly against the man's hand, and walked across the bed to lay on the boy's chest. "Does that mean Alice can't sleep with me?" Devlin asked, and the kitten's head snapped up. "As nice as I'm being? I think I deserve a spot on the bed with my boy," Alice said, purring and rolling over to show her stomach. Naomi yelped in surprise, and jumped over Lukas as he bounced toward her. She panted, and her tail wagged a few times before going still. "Alright, I think I'm finished," she said, before sniffing around for her clothes. Seeing them near the foot of the bed, she gently snatched up the leather garments and dragged them to the bathroom, so that she could shapechange and dress. |

Lukas twitched on the floor in pain, that hurt...what was a word worse than bad? He couldn't think of one with his brain rolling around like a rubber ball. "Ow." The wolf grunted flatly before Max burst into laughter. "You were like 'Ahhh!' then whack! What was that you idiot?" The red fox rolled unto its back mocking the gray before him as he wheezed and coughed. "Hmm, I suppose." Alex stated noncommittally, he didn't honestly care, this...this entire scene had stirred up something within him he thought he had buried long ago. "I'm going for a walk." The blond man shot up and moved towards the window flicking it open before ducking outside. "That is...Alex just used a conjunction." Max stopped flat on his side as the man disappeared into the throng of people still outside... |

Devlin sat up in the bed, and watched Alex leave with a vague interest. For a moment, he considered following, but decided against it. Alex didn't seem to be one for toting around a companion, no matter how many traveled with him. His cat, however, had an entirely different idea. Alice eyed the man suspiciously as he left. "We should follow," she said in a low hiss. "Why? If he wanted us with him, he would've asked," Devlin replied, using an unsympathetic logic. "It's not about keeping him company. He's a shady character, and I don't trust him," Alice replied in a whisper, "And keep your voice down." Naomi emerged from the bathroom fully clothed in her black leather, as she didn't expect to be out and about again tonight. However, as soon as she noticed Alex's scent trail leading out the window, she sighed. "Where are you going?" she called out the window, not sure if Alex was close enough to hear or not. "That's what I intend to find out," Alice said softly, as she rose from the bed and climbed out through the window. As small as she was, this was no easy task. |

Alex moved to vanish into the throngs of men. He needed to get as far away from them as possible, the happiness, the friendship. It made him ill, furious...jealous. Things he was convinced we would never be able to have seemed to just appear and taunt him, a friend, then another, then another...were they his friends? He couldn't tell, would they betray him if they gave them a chance? DAMN IT! The man gripped his locks furiously, and tore at his scalp. His eyes tearing as he surveyed all around him...all the people, even after what they had lost, still had more than he ever would...right? They survived, they had their friends and family, and their loses would bring them together...what did he have? The man wandered aimlessly through the crowd, anger seething in palpable waves. Glancing up it was the same alley from earlier. "That is right, when I killed the fire I lost it." Alex looked down at an oddly shaped pile of ashes, and bit back tears. "That was the last thing I had..." Alex collapsed to his knees and traced his fingers through the ashes... |

Devlin sighed as he watched his cat run off into the night. He rolled onto his side and looked at the door for a long minute before he decided that he had to follow her. Slowly, he stretched, and stood up. "You look like a prostitute," the boy commented on Naomi's outfit before opening the door. "Where do you think you're going?" Naomi asked, turning to watch Devlin. "Alice ran off, and I have to go catch her before a dog does," Devlin remarked with a sigh. Before Naomi had a chance to protest, he slammed the door shut behind him and ran off after the kitten. Naomi sighed deeply, and sat down on the bed. She would give the boy five minutes. If he wasn't back in five minutes with the cat, she'd have to go retrieve him. "Why the Hell did I agree to this?" she moaned as she fell back onto the bed. Alice was closer at the man's heels than Devlin had thought. When Alex stopped, she stopped several feet behind him, her yellow eyes the only thing separating her from the darkness around her. Alice sat and watched closely as the man fell to his knees. |

"Cruor ex cruor , cruor ut cruor." Alex whispered into the darkness if he noticed the animal behind him, he gave no sign of such. Pulling a knife from his boot Alex slit his hand over the ashes, letting the crimson fall onto the black soot. "From blood you were made, from blood shall you return." The sigil etched into the ashes flashed red. The destroyed ashes twisted and churned, taking on a new form. A single page forming, a strangely tan piece of paper, etched with silver forming. The blond man snatched the strange piece of paper and tucked it away into his jacket. Its weird squishy form disappearing as the man folded in his pocket. "How much did you see." Alex drawled as he stood, before turning towards the small kitten... Edited by Mr. Mouse, Mar 30 2010, 12:00 AM.

Alice looked up at Alex, her tail flicking ever so slightly as it wrapped around her. She placed a paw on the tip of her tail to try and keep it from moving, which made it twitch. As she was not exactly in public, she deigned it was allowed for her to speak. "I had the suspicion that you were hiding something," she said, "and I was right. As it seems I often am." Just at that moment, Devlin ran up behind Alice and scooped her up into his arms. The cat hissed in surprise, but didn't struggle. "Don't talk outside," he chided her quietly, "If I could sneak up on you, who knows who else could be nearby?" With that, he looked up at Alex apologetically. "I'm sorry, my kitten has trust issues. I hope she didn't bother you?" Devlin asked, with a hopeful smile. He had seen nothing of importance. There was a sense that something was amiss, however, he tried to dismiss the feeling. Naomi sighed again, and glanced at the door. One minute until she had to go fetch the lad. "Why did I agree to this?" she said again, to no one in particular, "I don't know the first thing about children." |

Alex simply watched the child before patting his jacket. "Nothing wrong, just needed to recover a piece of equipment I left behind." Alex shrugged playing off the incident. "You two should head back I need to load some equipment onto the wagons tonight before we head off." The blond waved his hand before walking off through where the fire had ravaged the town. 'That damn cat is a nuisance' Alex spat within his mind as he continued to walk, the charcoal beneath his feet splintering and cracking as he continued. He hated this, all of this. It was supposed to be easy money, a little demolition that went wrong, just another thing to be sour about. He could never win, never escape it, that little voice in his head. That damn THING that possessed him to hold onto it with all his might. That hellish little thought that never went away... Alex stumbled as he wandered inadvertently into the ruined guard-post, the shattered remains of the building still sparking ad warm from the inferno... |

Naomi looked back up at the door. "Time's up," she thought irritably as she leaped from the bed. The lycan stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind her. Perhaps her frustration was a little bit over the top, but she was beyond caring. This would be second time she went out tonight looking 'like a whore'. The kitten mewed softly, and Devlin cradled her, scratching her belly as he carried her back. He only made it about halfway, however, before Naomi snatched him up and put him on her shoulder. She carried him back to the room without a word, despite Devlin's meek protests, and once inside she dumped him onto the bed. |
