"AIIGHT!" Max yelped as he was crushed under the woman who leaped towards the bed, struggling in fear and paranoia about his most dreaded fear. "I love that." Alex laughed before looking down towards the cat on the floor. "So then can you do any magic Dev?" The blond smiled as he knelt and regarded the cat extending his hand towards it slowly, slight trepidation towards the strange feline. On the other side Lukas barked in surprised as he was piled upon by fox and wolf-woman alike. Groaning in pain the gray cried out as he kicked wildly underneath the pile. |

"Well, I accidentally set my mother's hair on fire once. She got mad at me for playing with the candle, but it was on the other side of the room. I thought it was funny, but she sure didn't," Devlin replied, laughing. Suddenly, however, his laughter stopped. "My parents didn't make it out, did they?" he asked suddenly as the realization hit him like a runaway bull. Alice looked at the extended hand for a moment, her paw held still by her mouth. "I suppose there's no reason to remain silent, in the present company," she said after a moment, and rubbed her head against Alex's hand, "I doubt you're going to drown me in a barrel." Meanwhile, Naomi giggled and lightly bit the fox on the ear. She wished she were in her wolf form to play, and quite suddenly, she was. Her wolf form was a deep black, and she had to squirm out of her clothes as she slid off the furry pile and onto the bed. |

The groggy fox quickly attempted to gather his senses, seeing the shifting of forms on top of him it clicked. Max growled in mild annoyance before he nipped at her in return, aiming for the wolf-woman's paws. "Alchemy then." Alex mused as he looked at the cat, somehow he was less than surprised. "No if I was going to drown you it would be in a bath like the others." Alex laughed before turning his head towards the now silent child and simply nodded the smile still on his face. Lukas struggled as the weight on him shifted, Naomi's scent filling his nose the wolf yelped as he struggled to get out from under the pile. This was degrading be forced to submit to a fox and a bitch. "Nope." Alex said bluntly before picking up the cat and tossing it towards the child, anything to waylay the crying... |

"Oh," Devlin said, no hint of sadness in his voice as he caught his cat, "That's good. I planned on killing them when I got old enough to reach the cabinet where they kept the big knives. Now I'm free, and I don't even have to go to jail or be hanged." "Wonderful news," the cat agreed, though it glared coldly at Alex. Naomi sobered immediately when she heard the child. "That's no way to talk. They were still your parents. What did they do that was that bad?" she asked, wincing as Max bit her paw. With a playful snarl, she snapped back at him. "They beat me, my father touched me inappropriately, and they sold my two older sisters into prostitution," Devlin answered, in a tone that suggested boredom, "I'm not stupid enough to hate and kill without a good reason." "Not to mention they drowned me twice, fed me to the neighbor's dog, and threw me in a fireplace," Alice added irritably, "I was fine with the drowning, but the dog and the fire were both too far. Both inflicted a lot of pain." |

"Heh!" Max laughed from the pile. "Acid, Fire, Drowning, Frozen, Chopped into pieces, blunt trauma, beaten, hey Alex what else am I missing?" The fox nipped again towards the female above him as Lukas wiggled his way free. "Drug behind a cart, eaten, drowned, drowned, trampled, and some less than legal things. All brought to you by yours truly." Alex gave a mock bow towards the fox before spinning towards the child. "Well if you are going to be in my company I should get some rules out of the way." Alex picked at his left ear in annoyance as he wracked his brain. "First, You do as your told. Second, You do Not use Alchemy in public. Third, The cat does Not speak in public. You follow those little rules and I will pretend your not a magical being and will not convert you to a fine powder." Alex's overly cheerful voice was bordering on the insane as he locked eyes with the child. Lukas leaped on top of the pile and growled domineeringly, he was clearly offended for some reason... |

"And I have some answers to your rules," Devlin replied, a small smile lighting his face, "First, I always do. Second, I never do. And third, she never does." He kept his gray eyes locked with Alex's green ones, showing no fear or even the slightest bit of unease. The kitten stopped glaring and began purring loudly. Devlin's smile widened, and he broke eye contact only to look down at Alice and squeeze her gently. Unlike the other alchemist, Devlin clearly had a soft spot for his familiar. Naomi wiggled away from under Lukas. With a loud 'yip!' she tried to slam into him shoulder-first, to push him off the bed. Her tail was still wagging playfully, but she was growing a bit frustrated. Though Naomi didn't know it, it was because she felt instinctively that Lukas had 'challenged' her. |

Alex smiled and nodded at the child, he had backbone if nothing else, "Good, then we leave in the morning for Flayeta." The emerald eyed man turned the war between the three dogs and sighed gently. Max laughed as Lukas fell onto the ground with a fleshy thud, letting out a yelp of pain as he nursed the pain in his hindquarters. The fox had no intention of letting the game end and quickly became a flying projectile aimed to barrel the gray wolf into the corner. A glint lit into Alex's eyes as he witnessed this. 'Yes I am gonna get my bed back!' He moved towards the bed ever so softly before leaping upon it to push the female wolf from it onto the coiling beasts on the floor below. |

"Flayeta? Why is that?" Devlin asked as he sat down on the floor, "And why do you keep a werewolf in your company?" The kitten jumped out of his arms, rubbed her body against the child, then walked away to watch the spectacle the canines were producing. Naomi growled lightly at Alex. Though he didn't managed to knock her off, she stumbled and fell onto the bed. "Okay, I can take a hint," she said sullenly as she jumped off the side of the bed. Her mood improved almost instantly, though. She sneaked up behind Max, and nipped him playfully on the back of his leg before darting back. |

"It is convenient." Alex shrugged before flopping on the rickety bed. "You sleeping here or not?" The emerald eyed man glanced sideways towards the gray eyed child with a sly glance before stretching to watch the war that had begun. Spinning in circles the red furred fox jumped towards the female a grin plastered across his features. More than likely due to Not getting a bath. Matching the female turn for turn as they chased each others tails. Lukas though was mildly more annoyed, even the presence of a new person not enough to pique his curiosity, and leaped towards the twisting pair spread eagle. Alex squinted and turned his head for what was going to happen next... |

Naomi chased Max's tail for a small amount of time before losing interest in that game entirely. She stopped mid-circle and jumped backward, hoping to knock Max down. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Lukas just in time for him to knock her to the ground; he would be her next target. The tiny kitten glared at the 'dogs' briefly before jumping onto the bed, her yellow eyes glowing intensely in the candlelight. "Idiots," Alice mumbled as she curled up near Alex's feet. In truth, she was a bit jealous; she was far too small to join in the play herself. Devlin hesitated before sitting on the edge of the bed. He reached out and began stroking Alice gently. "There's only one bed in this room. Would you be willing to share it? I had assumed you were sharing it with the woman already," he said uncertainly. |
