Devlin woke up; he heard shouting.

"I guess God thinks that sleep is a luxury I can afford to lose tonight," the boy said with a yawn. He rubbed his eye sleepily and sat up in bed, unintentionally dumping a sleeping kitten off of his chest. Groggily, he left the bed and walked over to the window, and peered blindly out into the darkness.

Naomi leaped back from Alex, and after a moment of uncertainty she bolted after him. With her enhanced speed, she caught up with the man easily.

"What are we running from?" she asked worriedly, running neck-to-neck with the blond.

Albel turned around and leaned against a wall, he stared blankly at the wall across from him. He blinked several time sand shook his head standing up right, looking around he began laughing stopping after a moment. "I learn more and more it seems." he said turning to face the wall he had been leaning against touching his hands to it a red symbol appeared and then he pulled a new cloak out from it just like his old one.

He felt just fine and he walked over to the church on the steps he stopped moving and looked away from the church suddenly he threw up a large amount of blood, it splattered onto teh steps and he hunched over coughing loudly.

"Death." The man stated flatly as he jumped through the open window into his room with a dramatic roll, startling the rooms occupants who flinched as the blond rushed to the writing desk. Yanking out the quill the man desperately scratched the symbol into the desk itself. "Must cancel alchemy before town explodes." The man's emerald eyes spoke of horror as he scrawled a counter into the face of the desk.

Naomi halted, and rather than jump through the window she climbed in, closing it behind her.

"I wasn't aware that death was chasing us," she mumbled, looking out the window. The town had stopped glowing, and oddly enough, the buildings that had burned were fully intact.

It was then that the boy decided to stand. Devlin had had to duck quite suddenly, to avoid being hit by the flying human projectile. He brushed himself off, though he hadn't really been dirtied, and stared back out the window.

"What's going on?" Devlin asked with a yawn.

Albel sat down on the steps coughing violently, he wiped his mouth off in time to vomit blood once more. He spat the blood in his mouth out the best he could and laid back the feeling died down eventually but he still coughed hard every few seconds which forced him to sit up and scoot up against the wall.

"And there!" The blond laughed as he activated the sigil pressed into the desk, a flash of red and he fell to the ground as his internal organs twisted and contorted in horrid pain.

"HOLY MOTHER!" The man bellowed as the counter sigil activated and begun dancing across the city with cascading lights of red in a desperate attempt to cancel this new magic. The man coughed and wretched as the spell tore through the sky the moon and stars blotted out by the desperate spell.

"Alex!" Max bellowed leaping from the bed to his owners side, who pushed him aside as he struggled to breathe.

Naomi went to Alex's side, but made no attempt to touch him. She was entirely uncertain of what to do; this was a wound caused by magic, and she had no magic of her own to counter it.

"Max, what's wrong with him?" she asked worriedly, "Is this normal for alchemists?"

Oddly enough, Devlin ignored the scene going on behind him. Instead, he just watched with fascination as the city glowed anew.

Albel continued to cough finally he slowed down, and watched as the red glow came back he cursed loudly thinking his inability to stay healthy caused it. "Oh great half my life is gone and something reverses it?" he sighed letting his rage go. Shaking his head "I suppose I could rebuild each place individually, or use the forest outside the place and make supplies to rebuild. I'm sure it'd be nice for others." he coughed again and then spit blood out and walked to the inn.

Opening the large he leaned against the wall and drug himself up the stairs coughing violently he sat down next to his room and sighed coughing again like he was a smoker.

Alex wreathed on the hard wooden floor; his body convulsing as the counter magic wracked his form and crackled like lightning about him. Flashes of red bleeding into the world before vanishing into the building around him.

"Not that I know of!" The fox yelped in surprise as a bolt of red bit through his paw, singeing the fur black. Deftly backpedaling the furry beast moved away in his concern. What would happen if Alex died?!

Lukas flopped about as he reflexively drowned out the background noise around him giving a heavy snore as he slept through the annoying flashes of blood red danced about his master's form.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHH!" The blond screamed as the lightning like energy subsided and he lapsed into unconsciousness blood trickling from his lips as he thudded on the floor one last time...

Naomi knelt by Alex's side, and shook him gently.

"Alex? What the Hell did you just do to yourself?!" she asked loudly, fighting a rising panic. If Alex were to die, she didn't know what would happen to his familiar. Not to mention she'd have more difficulty getting out of town, and would probably have to revert back to theft.

"Get out of the way, wolf," Devlin said calmly as he gently yet firmly pushed at Naomi's shoulder. She edged away on her knees, and looked at the boy worriedly.

"Now, how do I do this?" the boy wondered aloud, as he carefully dipped the tip of his finger in Alex's blood. He started drawing symbols on the man's forehead, slowly and methodically. It was clear that he didn't get a lot of practice, and wasn't entirely sure of what he was doing.

Primary: Fortitude -> Delin'ar
Secondary: Mending -> Quir
Tertiary: Mending -> Mending -> Fortitude
Invocation: Delin'ar

The boy then smeared what blood was left on his shirt, and backed away. Hopefully, this would heal Alex, but it was uncertain how he was wounded.
