Naomi stumbled out from the back of the inn, smelling strongly of sweet wine. She was drenched with the stuff, and it was burning her cuts rather badly, especially the fresh one across her stomach. The girl looked down at herself and sighed; she would have to repair her leather breastplate again. Which means she would need supplies that she had no money to buy.

"I could always steal what I need... But if Alex finds out, he'll probably hurt me again. And since I will have broken a promise, chances are he won't stop if I make the same promise again."

She shuddered, and began wringing the white wine from her hair. Stumbling, she made her way back to the wall of the town. One of the guards smelled her long before he saw her; he turned to stare at her, nose wrinkled.

"Have you been at the barrel?" he asked, thinking her to be terribly drunk.

"You could say that," Naomi replied with a quiet laugh, "Say, you don't think I could get out of this town, do you?"

"Do you have the proper papers?"

"My employer has them."

"Well, then, bring him back here with the papers, and we'll let you out... You might want to go to the church and get those wounds checked out, though, miss. You look as if you've been through Hell," the guard said, a bit concerned.

"I have been. And actually, I was looking for the North Bastion. If I can't get out, can you tell me where that is?" Naomi asked hopefully.

"That would be the church," the guard replied with a laugh, "And it's to the North, obviously."

"Sarcasm doesn't become you," Naomi said with a growl, wiping the vampire blood from her face, "I was looking for more specific instructions."

The guard laughed again, and pointed to the north. Steaming, Naomi growled and turned, and walked in the way he was pointing.

"Useless as a man's nipples, all the guards here! Horses arses, the lot of them!"

Naomi stumbled with every other step; though she had eaten, the pain and blood loss (and the small bit of ale) were taking a serious toll on her. She was seeing double, and the edges of her vision were black. Honestly, she was no longer certain that she was going North.

"Hell... I need to rest," she mumbled to herself, and plopped down onto the dirty road, leaning up against a building.

"Looks like someone's drunk," a shadowy figure said with a bright grin.

"What's drunk?" Naomi asked the person, her eyes bleary.

"It's what you are, silly!" was the mysterious stranger's reply. A gloved hand reached out to smear the blood on Naomi's stomach.

"You really shouldn't be fighting. The guards don't take kindly to it, and a girl your size can't be doing too well in drunken brawls," the person said, in a tone feigning concern. There was something mocking behind the words, though.

Naomi growled and sat up as straight as she was able.

"To Hell with the guards! I hate those whoresons... No help!"

The figure placed his (she had determined it was a he) booted foot against her chest and forced her back against the building.

"No, no, don't get up! You're not ready to move yet. Or, rather, I'm not ready for you to move," the voice said with a chuckle.

Azubah was walking around the streets, he had helped the humans rebel, sadly however unlike the guards he managed to do a better patrol job. "Stupid ass guards." he said wandering the backstreets most were afraid of.

He happened upon Naomi though it was good that he was far sighted he was able to see the girl with someone stepping on her, "Oh now this will be fun." He ran towards the two and Jumped pulling his sword up as he fell towards the man his words were "Hey there!" the sword being brought down.

The figure was hooded, and his peripheral ((sp?)) vision was not at it's best. However, he managed to turn and see the sword just in time to jump back. The blade narrowly missed Naomi's legs, which she pulled up against her chest.

The strange man clicked his tongue a few times.

"Look, you almost amputated my whore's legs... Really, you should be more careful. Guess I'll have to look elsewhere for my fun, since you apparently have this girl claimed," the man said, mockingly saluting Azubah before walking away. He turned into an alley, and vanished from sight.

Naomi stood up shakily, bracing herself against the side of the building.

"Wha-?" she asked, her mind no longer there in it's entirety.

Azubah smiled and waved as the man left, "Huh your a whore? Interesting I thought I'd seen all of them... Well anyways are you alright? I'm a guard at the moment since they are too chicken shit to actually go through these Alleys." He placed the sword on his shoulder and his forearm on the hilt of the sword, "The name's Azubah, good to meet you... uh..." he paused he didn't know her name so he stood there and stared at her directly in the eyes, he figured eye contact was better than trying to look over her body which he found quite appealing.

"I'm not a whore. I'm not even entirely sure what that is," Naomi protested; she knew that 'whore' was a word typically used as an insult, but other than that, she knew nothing of the fine art of prostitution. She crossed her arms over her chest, pouting.

"And what are you, a guard?" she asked; at this point in her mind, being called a guard was a worse insult than being called a whore. By far.

Azubah laughed, "A whore is a woman that sells her body, and Yes I can be considered a guard, at least not as retarded as these other ones. It's more like a charity to help." He explained he didn't like being considered a permanent guard, and the chance to fight was always something he jumped for, "Especially in this sort of situation saving a beautiful girl in distress. Great." Azubah coughed it was a fake one but still, "Er, that wasn't meant to be said aloud. What are you doing here anyways? Back alleys like these are for whores." he motioned to a woman dressed rather provocatively across the way in another alley.

"How can you sell your body?" Naomi asked, perplexed by the idea. The words brought to her mind a disturbing image of someone cutting off their own fingers and selling them to cannibals.

"I was making my way to the... North something. Bastion? I'm not sure. It's a church. I'm supposed to be meeting my employer there. If I don't I'll be stuck in this damned place until I get frustrated, go on a killing spree, and am cut down by the guards," she explained quickly, her tone flustered.

"Selling your body, er do you really want to know how a woman whores herself off?" Azubah asked his eyes slowly looked down then snapped right back up to her face. "She has a pretty face..." his voice in his head sounded dreamy like and he suddenly shook his head.

"The church... interesting place to meet up at, especially when you smell and look like you do. That wound on your stomach will get infected if you don't get it cleaned." as far as he knew Naomi seemed to be a normal girl. "By the way... do you have a name? I'm Azubah." he finally asked her his eyes once more lowered enough to take in the sight of her breasts, but he caught himself and managed to move his sight back to her face.

"My employer might clean it. If he doesn't want me to get sick and die, which he very well might. It's hard to tell with him. I'd probably be in better condition to care for myself if he hadn't torn up my back earlier," Naomi grumbled as she slowly pushed herself away from the wall. She wobbled, but didn't fall; Naomi was far too stubborn to let herself hit the ground again today.

"And I'm Naomi. Who are you?" she asked, too tired to be pleasant.
