Spain Imposes Tariffs of 25% GIBRALTAR, SPAIN - International tensions start to escalate as the Kingdom of Spain unjustly imposed a 25% Tariff Tax on all Commercial shipping. The Tax, undoubtedly high and nonsensical have sparked criticisms around the world, as well as in Spain itself over the management of the Government. Many have expressed their dissent through riots on the streets of Barcelona, and in Gibraltar itself, many have placed up signs painted "There is No tax Here! You are Free to Go!" in protest. The Strait, home to almost 40% of the Continent's Trade is a vital waterway for commercial shipping and is a meet point between East and West. Although Officially imposed, the Trade has largely been ineffective as the Spanish Military, without any Navy is unable to sink or stop the merchant fleets to pay the Tax. Only a small handful stopped to obey the law, and a majority were Spanish Commercial Ships themselves. However, should the Spaniards start the latter decision, the entire continent could decline into a recession, with Spain almost robbing 12% of the Continent's Wealth into their pockets. Already, plans for two Artillery Forts on both ends of the Straits were planned by the Spanish Government to Sink ships that do not obey the law. Thankfully, it was not enacted as a cost was not earmarked by the Government. Despite their failures to do so, the World must treat that as a warning that the Spaniards do mean business is business. |
