JACKSON, Miss. -- Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt says defensive end Greg Hardy is "very doubtful" for Saturday's game with Southeastern Louisiana.

Hardy sprained his left ankle in the season-opening 45-14 win at Memphis and it remains swollen and discolored. The senior stayed in Oxford for treatment while other players left on a bye weekend.

The 6-foot-4, 265-pound Millington, Tenn., native has been struggling with a broken bone in his right foot since last year. It's unclear what Hardy's status is for the Sept. 24 game at South Carolina.

Nutt said Duke Calhoun should have been penalized for the cut block that injured Hardy and had Southeastern Conference officials review the play. The SEC agreed a penalty should have been called but took no further actions.
