MIAMI – The biggest recruiting victory in FIU's fledgling football history came because of a toddler's finger.

Unable to choose a college on his own, T.Y. Hilton decided to place two hats on his bed. One cap from FIU, the other from West Virginia. He summoned his 1-year-old son, and whispered a simple direction: "Go choose which one you want Daddy to go to."

The boy touched the FIU hat. Then again. Then again. Eight times in all, without fail, even after Hilton moved the caps around.

"Meant to be, I guess," Hilton said.
