Do the words Xbox, Playstation, Warhammer, Dungeons and Dragons or Warcraft mean anything to you? For anyone with an interest in games of all kinds, then make your way to CONFESS. Sligo’s annual Gaming Convention returns to the Southern Hotel on the 27th and 28th September bringing with it a vast array of games of all kinds for all ages. The Convention is now in its fifth year and has been growing steadily in attendance every year with game enthusiasts from all corners of Ireland making the annual trek to Sligo.

With competitions, Trade Stands and demos in a vast array of Board-games, card-games, Console systems, Role-playing Games, War-games and more, the weekend offers the ideal opportunity to sample the growing gaming hobby. The hobby has been pushed into even further heights by the popularity of home game systems such as the Xbox, Wii and Ps3 and the popularity of the fantasy and sci-fi genre in the cinema from which many games draw influence.

The Convention is organised by the Flat Earth Games Society, a group of former Sligo IT game club members who run the con on a voluntary basis each year. CONFESS kicks off with a meet and greet session for older attendees at 9pm on the Friday 26th in the upstairs of the Tobergal Lane Café and Restaurant, Sligo. The doors to the convention itself open each day at 9.30am with events running all day, including the CONFESS pub quiz on the Saturday night. The Society also runs events that support local charities with money raised each year to help kids. Entry for the weekend is 17euro (weekend) or 10euro (day). All ages are welcome though minors must be accompanied by an older supervisor. More information can be found on www.bebo.com/confess08 and www.flateartsoc.com
