Should the police be just armed with pistols? Or should some carry automatic weapons like M4's and M16s? |

Being as I am in Britain, The police don't carry pistols, there is a unit which is the Armed police who are equipped with pistols and the occasional MP5-N. I don't think it is right for local, on the street police to carry any weapon apart from the Pepper spray and there extended hitting tools (I dont know what it is called xD) If their is a shootout somewhere, and It is reported, The police will send the Armed guys in. |

Our police carry pistols, batans and pepper spray. Not much goes on around here, but I think police should go in units and carry an automatic weapon in the trunk. |

How many people would break into police cars though? Yeah, in England they don't carry guns, and I don't think they should, they're fucking useless as it is arresting the wrong people, what if they shot the wrong person? |

Well isn't that why a police officer has a partner, that's two pistols going on and if the scenario was big enough...back up. They should only have the standard issued weapons. |

It should be equal to whatever their current job requires. If they're going against a drug ring with semi-automatics, they should have semi-automatics too. I think a police officer should carry anything to keep people safe. Civilians, on the other hand, I think should only carry handguns for protection and it should be hard for them to get them. People don't need shotguns to feel safe. The same goes for hunting. Using a handgun against a helpless animal isn't a fair fight in the first place, so why do they need to get sprayed by machine gun fire? |
