Once you have clicked ok - go to select and click on deselect so that your image no longer as the selection tool on it.

Your avatar will look something like this if you followed my rough pastels settings.![]() Now if you want to do anything more you can either experiment with filters or use the layers option. Make sure your image is selected in the layers menu first and not the background. Go to your layers box and click on the menu at the top, it will bring down a long list. ![]() Then choose from the list. You can try them all out, as it shows you what it will look like. I chose vivid light option which is available on photoshop cs2.

If you wish to add any text, go to the tool box and select text. ![]() |

Chose a font and place your writing on your image. A new layer will appear for the font in your layers panel.

Now your ready to save your avatar to use online! Simply go to file and save for the web ![]() Another box will come up showing some settings and your image. Just chose which kind of format you want your avatar in. Jpeg, gif or png are the ones that are commonly used. In this case i used Jpeg. ![]() |

Save it to your desktop or folder if you have one ready. Then upload it to somewhere like photobucket. Although most messageboards and forums allow you to directly upload to their boards in your profiles if they are not too big in size. Keep this in mind when making an avatar. |
