First of all choose a picture you wish to make into an avatar. I chose Shania. Then open adobe photoshop and start a new project.

You will then be required to fill in pixels sizes for your avatar, I chose 100x100 pixels because most messageboards use this size as a standard size. You dont have to name your project but i named mine avatar. Then click ok.

Now go to file and open... then select the picture you want to use as an avatar. It will then open in the same window as your blank avatar.

Now is the tricky bit... You must get your picture to the size of your blank avatar. Mine is 100x100 pixels remember. So in this case I need to resize the shania picture until its 100x100 pixels. You also may need to trim your picture to the right shape first. I am hoping you know how to trim it but if not, go to your tool bar - which you should have already open) and click on the clippers... thats the icon on the bar in black 3rd down on the left - under the lasso tool. ![]() Go to image next once you are happy with your picture shape. ![]() |

Then get your pixels the same size as your blank avatar![]() When happy with that click ok. |

You should now have a picture and a blank avatar of equal size.
