Today Australian Chancellor Sir Thomas Albert Blamey, instituted a program involving massive government spending. The program simply called "One plan" calls for the expenditure of over 5 billion dollars. This kind of money has never been seen before in Australia because of inferior economic policies. When Sir Thomas Albert Blamey came to power he converted over-night the economy to a fascist system. One Plan has a very well developed social welfare program, as almost 30% of the nation's population is unemployed. The program will provide the unemployed with subsidized housing complexes to live in as well as ration cards so they will be well fed. These unemployed won't be that way for long as they will shortly be placed back into the work environment doing low-skill assembly or maintainable in factories as well as manual labor in work camps or mines. The health care system, which was in tatters has been given a 900 million dollar booster shot. The sick and injured will have the best treatment money can buy. As well this stimulus has provided jobs for WWI medics, doctors, and nurses, who were previously unemployed, or employed elsewhere, where their skills were being wasted. If the children are the future then the future looks expensive as the education system has received a 130 million dollar rebinding. Education has been universalized all over the Commonwealth. The new focus of eduction is math, science, and English. Gym, art, and social studies classes have been replaced by exercise, rifle drill, and Australian Patriotism classes. Discipline and academic excellence will be highly valued in this new system of education. Religion has been done away with entirely and all religion monuments and building will be torn down, or repurposed. Research and Development is also very important, and as such 200 million dollars have been dedicated to it. The One plan only generally outlines new technologies to be developed, but that includes new weapons for the military as well as more efficient sources of energy and water treatment processes. There has also been a revamp of the justice system. There will be more police, and peace officers. As well penalties have become harsh, but incentives to abiding the law have been as well. There is no longer protection of the criminal like in most democratic countries. Australia's previously decrepit and antiquated infrastructure has received the most impressive lump of cash at 1.6 billion dollars. The plan goes into great detail regarding the construction of roads, bridges, highways and railroads, as well as power generation facilities, water treatment plants and effective, affordable housing. The goal of this massive expenditure is to provide every Australian with affordable electricity, housing, a reliable and direct transportation network, and above all enough fresh, clean, and safe drinking water. There has also been some resource and agricultural development at a cost of about 250 million dollars. It is hoped that this expenditure will bear the brunt of most of the unemployed citizens. The military and national defense budgets have also been sizable increased to 800 million dollars. It is hoped that with this money the military can be updated and dramatically increased. The One plan is in general designed to make people happier, increase national welfare, and stabilize the toppled economy. It is also outlined that the population growth rate is supposed to increase to almost 2%, good news for all you young 20-somethings. We leave you now with this direct quote from of prestigious leader himself Sir Thomas Albert Blamey "There will be no free rides in my country. If you work, if you make an effort, if you contribute, then you shall live happily, healthy and prosperously." This broadcast has been brought to you be Radio Australia, your source for up to date news on developments in out great Commonwealth. Edited by Australia, Aug 11 2009, 08:26 PM.

The Chairman of the Military, Maj. Gen. O'Neill, has approved the adoption and mass production of the Pederson Rifle, designed by John Pederson formerly of the United States. The Pederson rifle is a delayed blow-back, semi-automatic firearm. The new Australian variant will be chambered for a .303 Australian cartridge, a larger more powerful cartridge than it was originally intended to fire. John Pederson came to Australia not long ago after being repeatedly turned down by the United States Military. Maj. Gen. O'Neill gave Pederson $15 million for the rights to the design. Mass production of the rifle will begin this week, as Maj. Gen. O'Neill has ordered the creation of 100,000 rifles at the cost of 7 million dollars. Resource costs of this production are 100 tonnes of iron. Economic Event #1 Aug 04, 09 Expenditure: $22 million 100 tonnes iron Edited by Australia, Aug 4 2009, 11:00 AM.

Aug 05, 09 Another message from Chairwoman Mary McDonald. Efficient and proper housing has been a problem in Australia for a number of years. Therefore the entire housing budget of $450 million will be spent to improve the well being of the citizens of this Great Commonwealth. Subsidized housing and small affordable houses are being constructed across the nation to shelter those who are homeless, unemployed, or both. Mary McDonald is quoted as saying "This is a massive undertaking, but it is a necessary one. We need to get the people off the street and into homes." Aug 07, 09 The Chairman of National Welfare, Brigadier Duncan Maxwell has created a program to allow school children to help the great nation in which they live. The program requires the voluntary efforts of 1 million children between the ages of 11 and 17 years. These children will patrol around their schools, and neighborhoods picking up litter and other debris. The family of any volunteer child will receive a $300 tax rebate to contribute to their budget however they please. The program is designed to show people that if they help the country, even a little, they will be rewarded. Turn 2 For simplicities sake I'm just going to cobble together all the infrastructure improvements, and all the resource improvements into two economic events, unlike last week where they were many. Mary McDonald announced the further construction of infrastructure facilities, to accommodate the ever growing demands on the existing system. When the new facilities become fully operational all citizens will be supplies with ample water and electricity. Any populated area will have paved roads, and public transportation. As well more low income housing is being constructed to allow those who have become stable efficient members of our society to move out of tenements and subsidized housing, to allow room for immigration. By special request of Maj. Gen. O'Neill, Chairwoman McDonald has also further developed resource collection facilities, in an effort to meet future military production needs. Expenditure: All of resource and infrastructure budgets. 2x economic events (+1 to investment next turn) |

Turn 2 Economic event #3 For several days now, there has been a bill in the Hall of Representative, which if passed will allow for the use of prisoners, and other such undesirables as a source of cheap labor. The bill was stalled because of it's morally questionable implications. However only a few hours ago Sir Thomas Albert Blamey used his supreme executive power to pass to pass the bill, and told Chairman of Justice, Brigadier Harold William Grimwade and Chairwoman of Infrastructure Mary McDonald to work collaboratively assigning prisoners into work details. The prisoners will be used in danger zones like work camps, and in mining operations, to replace more valued citizens who pay taxes and contribute to the great nation. Just before he left the Hall of representatives Sir Thomas Albert Blamey was quoted as saying "We need everyone to hold her up, if you're found to be weighing her down, then you'll be cut loose." Turn #2 A young private in the Australian Army, Evelyn Owen has come to the Hall of War with a prototype sub-machine gun he calls the Owen gun. It is a small and highly rugged sub-machine gun, chambered for a 0.45 cartridge. Chairman of War Maj. Gen. O'Neill was impressed by the reliability of the firearm, as when tested along side other sub-machine guns such as the Thompson, and MP-38, it was the only firearm not to jam, even when covered in mug. Evelyn Owen was given a life-time tax exception, as well as a cheque for $2 million. The Owen gun is the standard issue sub-machine gun for the Australian Army. ![]() ##### After hearing the news about Owen's invention and success, another young man, Philip Charlton, from New Zealand submitted the blueprints for an Automatic rifle. This new design, dubbed the Charlton Automatic rifle, is a light-weight, durable firearm, chambered for a .303 Australian cartridge. Charlton received the same offer from Maj. Gen. O'Neill that was offered to Owen, however Charlton turned the General down, demanding no less than $5 million. Maj. Gen. O'Neill would not be haggled with and in true Australian fashion drew his .357 Magnum and said "How 'bout 3 million and a bit 'o target practice." Charlton accepted the formerly offered $2 million, but was begrudged the tax break due to his "cheek". The Charlton Automatic Rifle is now the standard issue automatic rifle for the Australian Army. ![]() I know it says light machine gun, buts its an automatic rifle, trust me ![]() Expenditure: $4 million from R&D Economic event #4 (+3 to investment next turn) Edited by Australia, Aug 11 2009, 08:47 PM.
