Sounds good. I had a look at my "copy" and I'm getting excited I'll probably play both a C:CSM + allies list and a Legion list whenever I'm allowed to. Awesome stuff. Cheers heathens

As I've been reading through the Legion list presented in Betrayal I came out with a sudden revelation: Like 1000heathens has already noticed with Iron Warriors, the Legion list gives an option to depict the "not-so-chaos" space marine chapters of the Traitor side. More notably it offers access to things that Alpha Legion and/or Night Lords players might feel lacking in the C:CSM. For example: Iron Warriors: Siege Breach Squads as Troops. Tactical Support Squads all armed with flamers, meltas or missile launchers. Lots and lots of heavy tanks. Alpha Legion: You want Infiltration? How about Infiltration, Scout, Move Through Cover and Stealth? Look no further Legion Recon and Legion Seeker squads are your answer! You can even give them sniper rifles and/or special issue ammunition for all your stealthy assassination needs! Night Lords: Want to run a all-jump pack army? Legion Space Marine Assault Squads are Troops. You can augment them with a couple of Elite Legion Destroyer Squads (two bolt pistols!) wielding all sorts of nasty radiological weapons if you want to. Oh, and you can also get Flyer Transports with Storm Eagles. If you play (or have played) any of these three Legions and feel the new C:CSM isn't really adequate for depicting your favorite Legion, I strongly suggest you get this book. At worst its a wonderfull piece of fluff and looks sharp in your bookshelf. At best its the best and only codex you'll ever need. |

Polaria, please don't mention All-Jump-Pack Lists for Night Lords. It makes me queasy. But as pointed out, this looks like a great way to go with the Legions everyone wants. Instead of a give-and-take relationship with you giving up more than you're getting, Betrayal has it as "You picked this Legion, you get these bonuses" and the best part is, the bonuses are optional. You could field a World Eaters army that never even touches the Rampager units and it still be a viable army from the looks of it. You aren't restricting yourself to a specific playstyle. I find it funny that someone over on B&C made this comparison: "Back in the Heresy era, the Legions weren't so different from each other than tactics and a few special units." but then went on to say how the new Codex is "Codex: Black Legion because every Legion isn't so different from the others except how players use it." |
![]() ![]() "Sons of our father, stand in midnight clad. We bring the night." "This is Sevatar to the fleet. Let me be clear, brothers and sisters. I am not losing to these pious, honour-fuelled, frock-wearing whoresons twice in the same month. Focus all fire on the Invincible Reason. They crippled our primarch. Let's return the favour." -- It saw print! | |
