Do we think flamers will increase in popularity with the 'wall of flame' rule?

Btw guys, I've had the rulebook since yesterday. Not sure if you noticed the explosion it caused over on the B+C or not.... anything you want to know?

EDIT; Oh yeah.... check this out!!

That's a triple page spread that unfolds, and tells the story of Chaos arse-whooping the Imperium.

I feel like I have to put a comment here. Nobody has EVER stated it to be Chaos Space Marines in the starter, only "Chaos", which includes the aforementioned but not exclusively so...

Cultists, daemons and marines are all a part of the whole...

I'd be really surprised if it didn't at least have some CSMs in it though, what with the new Chaos book being rumoured to be on the shelves sometime in August.
That's not to say I wouldn't like it to be really original contents or anything, but it would surprise me.

I also think that sticking two power armour armies in the box is a good idea, especially for new players. Think about it, all the models need 3's to shoot, 4's to hit and 4's to wound each other, and then they all get 3+ armour saves.
It's a really good way to get people into how the game works, and fast.

There's also the fact that both SM and CSM have huge fanbases, and, if they made the box with them in, they'd sell in huge numbers. It'd be even better for Chaos players than Imperial, because you'd be able to convert all the loyalist marines into Chaos ones with minimal difficulty.

I wont be getting the rulebook for a while so this is all news to my ears. But I would love to see the dark angels get a update with the starter box. And we all know how the New Babad community feel about an update for chaos so if this rumor is true it would be music to all of our ears. And I am with Araziel on this one it would certainly simplify the game for the people getting into it. They all need the same rolls but it doesn't give that flexibility that the other box had. Where you could take it multiple ways orks and space marines were completely different while these are slightly different (hope that will change with the update)

I never get collectors editions of anything. BIG waste of money.
Yeah, that's the truth. I don't know about the rest of you, but the people I know tend to be rather rough on rule books, so the collector's editions are a huge waste. Nobody is going to drop that much chedder on a book and then just bang it up. So they're looking at the collector's edition and either a regular edition, or the core box to get the mini rule book. Too costly to make sense.

I can see people getting the gamer edition, but its not such a hot value for me. My army transport already has space for my rulebook and though the new templates are nice, I have several sets of the old ones already. I also don't need the dice, though the lasgun power pack thing is cute.

I'm not getting the rulebook for a while. Please elaborate, as my other army is Sisters.

As for allies, I'm sure I'll love them. I see a lot of griping about potential abuse, but it doesn't make sense to me. Just apply Wheaton's Law and you're all set.

I'm also curious what the wall of fire rule is.

As fas as I can see in my rulebook, its called Wall of Death. The text is as follows:

Flamers and other template weapons are fearsome when employed against a charging enemy, as the wielder can spray a cloud of destruction into the path of the assault.
Template weapons can fire Overwatch, even though they cannot fire Snap Shots. Instead, if a template weapon fires Overwatch, it automatically inflicts D3 hits on the charging unit, resolved at its normal Strength and AP value. Don't worry about comparing the length of the template with the distance of the enemy. If the charge is successful, it doesn't matter anyway. If the charge failed, we can assume that the enemy ran into range of the template weapon, and were driven back.

(the following is my text)
So, basically, you Overwatch at a squad that tries to charge you but, unlike other weapons like bolters, template weapons get to fire even if the enemy don't succeed in charging you.
