Hey all just wanted to pop a question as I have not been active of late (finals review week ). So with the new flyers out I'm going to start a small army based off of the flyers release. So here comes the question should I do Space Marines or should I do Orks ? In the end though it will probably come down to which ones cheaper as my mom is without a job and I'm only 15.

You're leaning in the right direction with going with the cheapest route. Unfortunately I have to reccomend not starting a new army at all 40k has just become too expensive, especially for those in your spot :-/ |

I tend to remember things off the top of my head as opposed to checking, so please excuse and correct any official fluff mistakes I make. A lot of it also personal interpretation and theory, so feel free to disagree as well, I won't mind | |

Well I know I'm going to start a new army but I'm then going to supplement it with stuff I already have. That does include repainting some things. |

I'm still telling you to stick to fluff right now. At least until your mom gets job. I know how tight finances get when you lack employment, and 40k is always first off the list. It's just too expensive. |

Thirst is right. These circumstances are not the time to be starting a new army. |

Agreed. What do you already have? Make it sound like you have stuff to paint. I'd paint up what you have already, for whatever army. Or sort it. If you want it paint it up, if not then consider selling on ebay and fund a few bits yourself. If you paint to a high standard paint t and sell it as well painted minis go for a fair bit on e bay. |

Well the thing is she may not have a job but she has plenty of work from her clients when she still had a job. So with that we are able to limp along. Don't worry... I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm ignoring you guys advice I'm not.

I don't think your ignoring us. But in your own words 'limp along' doesn't sound too cheerful. The capital required to start a new army is quite large. Me for example, I was thinking of doing orks, even dabbled with idea of eldar. I have a well paying job, But we have a baby coming finances are stretched, so it would be irresponsible of me to start a new army. I only give you the same advice I did myself. If cash is in short supply there is always more important things to spend it on than 40k. I stand by my suggestion of painting what you have first. I don't wish to tell you what to do, but describing 'limping along' as financial situation does not sound like a new army should be taken on at this time. I would expand on what you already have and ideally paint only what you have already got until then. |

Exactly. I can see getting the occasional 40k item (that's what I've been doing, after all). But starting a new army is simply too large of an investment for your situation. |

Financial issues aside, I think the Ork Fighter is definitely the better of the two models. If you already have one of the factions (maybe both if you have AoBR), I'd say just add to what you already have. You only really need one of the new fliers. I cant see the reason why you would want more than two flyers in anything short of Apocalypse. |
