We are Death, the bringers of despair.
|
“Why are we assisting the self-proclaimed Tyrant in this assault? Perseus holds no value to us, its strategic value all but worthless to a host such as ours. Has Balantisis lost his mind, throwing in his lot with worthless scum such as Blackheart?” hissed the hooded figure of Sindri, a member of the Chosen Order within the Host.“We are the elite of the Plague God, yet he would have us cower like dogs and take orders from him? We, who so very long ago split from Mortarion’s side in disgust as he lusted after Barbarus while banished within the Great Eye? Are we to now aid the likes of Huron Blackheart forge a weakling empire within Imperial space? Are we to…” he broke off as he heard the immense thud, thud, thud of armoured footsteps. As Sindri turned round to look upon the new arrival, the sound of a swarm of flies drowned out everything, just as the air became choked with the smell of diseased flesh. A vast, Terminator armour-clad figure stood behind them. Ancient bronzed incense smokers hung from rusted chains from the figures waist, filling the air with the powerful smell of disease and death. Pustules that squirmed with life clung like parasites to the armour plating. Rottien heads hung from scalps attached to the warrior’s belt, worms and maggots burrowing into the depths of the flesh. This figure was Balantisis, Lord of the Host, leader of the Pestilent Scourge. Balantisis was the very vision of Pestilence, a character of ancient Terran lore who, with his three brothers, heralded the arrival of the Apocalypse. His face was a bloated mess of death. His hollowed cheekbones gave him a striking resemblance to Mortarion before his ascension to daemonhood, while the fresh, weeping sores covering the skin of his face made his allegiance to the Plague God all too obvious. Adorning his scalp were four deformation bone-growths that made him appear as though half-daemon. His left arm ended with a powerfist, said to have been forged during the ancient and noble insurrection of Horus, Warmaster and Avatar of Chaos for none other than Mortarion himself. It was said that Balantisis took the weapon for his own, proclaiming that none other than a true servant of the Gods should be allowed to bear such a hallowed weapon. In his right arm, Balantisis dragged a truly massive maul. Meant for use with two hands by mere Astartes, Balantisis evidently had no issue heaving it with one arm; the power of Chaos bringing him a strength that no training or conditioning could hope to match. The maul, named Talisac, was forged in the likeness of ravening daemons, and it was said that it tore the soul’s from mortal’s bodies, feeding the power of the wielder during combat. Corrosive slime leaked from the joints of his armour, hissing as it fought to eat through the metal decking he stood upon. “Does you’re worm have something to say, Phylaxis?” came the wet, rasping voice from beneath the grille plate affixed to Balantisis’ jawline. “None, my Lord” Replied Phylaxis quickly, and seeing an immediate danger, added “and nor do his… opinions reflect the Chosen Order, partly or whole. We live to serve, and bring death wherever you so choose.” “Always you resort to flattery, pathetic wretch. You should never have been allowed to the position of head of the Order. Warriors should have more pride than you. I hear…” Balantisis added waspishly, “that even the followers of the Corpse-God show more pride! “Let me make one thing clear. I am in command of this Host, ever since the fall of our daemonic master Rheumpox seven hundred years ago. His banishment to the Warp, while… regretful, was undoubtedly necessary. I have increased our strength tenfold since that day, have I not? My enemies flee before me, beg me for a mercy that does not exist and plead to join the ranks of the Scourge. I have the mind of a Commander, something that you, whelp” he lashed out into Sindri with his powerfist, pinning him to the wall and activating the energy field around it, “do not. Do not dare to question my motives or my methods” “My Lord…” gasped Sindri, unable to breathe under the electric field whirling around him, the energy slowly boiling the blood in his skull. “Please…” “Do not beg for life that you do not deserve. Phylaxis?” he said, looking at the Master of the Chosen. “Yes, my Lord?” he replied. “Make an example of this scum. Grant him the honour of sacrifice in preparation for travel into the Ether.” “It will be done, sire.” Balantisis threw the gasping Astartes onto the floor. “Do not presume to think I would follow a mongrel such as Blackheart for no reason. There is power of immense value hidden within Perseus that he is too foolish to see – but I am not a fool. When I succeed, rest assured, the Imperium will fall to its knees on my command” he said, turning away from the two figures, walking back down the corridor he arrived from. “And Phylaxis? Bring me his head once you’re finished with the rest of him.” ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Edited by Araziel, May 24 2012, 03:34 AM.

One question, will there be more? |

Yes! Yes, there shall. I'm planning on creating, well, basically an entire short story about my forces exploits during the campaign. Win or lose, every battle is going to be included. |

This sounds awesome and I might adopt it myself. It would probably be great fun making up stories about the battles. |

Yeah, that was my line of thinking. It'd be really cool if a group of people were to do it. |

They are relocating to another battlefront with an extremely pissed off commander who just sacrificed a lieutenant to revive himself. O_O |

I'd imagine he'll either be wounded for a while, or I'll put in some life-saving-BS like "Oh, Balantisis doesn't lead from the front. Unnamed Champions do." or something to that effect. |

Chaos Space Marine
|
"Wounds show how much damage a creature can take before it either dies or is so badly hurt it can't fight any more." - Warhammer 40 000 Basic Rule book, p. 6 Since Space Marine are notoriously tough to kill and have access to very advanced medical technology, I would assume that only one out of maybe six or even ten battlefield casualties that Space Marines suffer actually die. Rest are just put out of battle but come back for more in the next one... |
