Just been painting up the Hormagaunts I brought the other day. Found myself thinking they were amongst the best troop models in the range I've had the privilege of owning. They are just what I look for in a model - simple and yet full of character. On the same token I'm of the similar opinion on Chaos Warriors. To me less detail is better than to much and kinda pointless details that add nothing to the model. So with this in mind I was wondering what everyone elses favourite models are? Will start of with Troops/Core/LOTR basic infantry. So tell us what your favourite model is in the current or past range and why. Pics most welcome if you want to put them up. I would say the humble guardsman(renegade or not, hehe) is my favorite I think. Easily converteable(important for me) and easily painted. Have a ton of different combinations making them seem very varied in the squads. Allthough I love my spare part marines, they have the drawback of being too detailed and thus making me a bit tired of painting them...

Personally I like a mix of regular CSM and Possesed. This will usually be chosen. But that's my favorite. |

I'm partial to the rank and file metal Battle Sister, myself. Rock solid visual design and just enough detail to be interesting, without being as busy and overdone as more recent releases. |

I think they're a mixed bag. Some are quite nice while others, such as most of the Imperial marine stuff, just has way too much going on. A lot of the Ultramarines, for instance, look like a Roman reenactment supply warehouse exploded on them. |

I tend to remember things off the top of my head as opposed to checking, so please excuse and correct any official fluff mistakes I make. A lot of it also personal interpretation and theory, so feel free to disagree as well, I won't mind | |

So true! Though I kinda like the basic marine kit for it's conversion-possibilities! You can combine it with almost anything! |
