Del Riatan Socialist 'Revolution' End of Summer, 1914 - End of Fall, 1914 Since the late summer of 1914 the country of Del Riata has been encumbered by heavy political turmoil. It all began with the self proclaimed 'Dark' Tsar reforming the country to socialism without spreading socialism's influence through the country. In response to their leader's incompetence the military quickly gathered and mobilized and stormed capital, killing the few revolutionary guards the Tsar did have before killing him themselves. The former head of the army taking the title of Tsar while the remnants of the former leader's family fled the country. The small resistance cell that formed in the wake of the return back to imperialism has been somewhat active but the group has a very limited circle of influence. It was not long before the overthrowing of the 'Dark' Tsar was noticed by the other socialist countries in Eastern Esstia and Ostia. The Peasant's Red Army of the United League of Spartacist Soviets wasted no time and was quick to cross the border in Del Riata. The army was quick to claim miles upon miles of land in the name of socialism, capturing much of the northern industrial countryside before turning its attention to the Southern capital and the industrialized center of the imperial nation. ![]() Red Army troops marching through Northern Del Riata The first military resistance was encountered a couple of miles out of the capital city. The Del Riatan military had prepared trenches to defend the imperial capital with the line extending from the Western seaboard to the border of Utiquirsta. The initial Red March towards the capital was caught by surprise and shock as machine gun fire split into Soviet lines. The Red Army was quick to retreat before beginning bombardment of the underdeveloped trenches. The Soviet belief that the Imperial military would be unorganized and shattered due to the recent coup had proved wrong. It was not long before Del Riatan artillery fire began to bombard the undefended Red Army in turn. Ensuing naval battles occurred as the Workers' and Peasants' Northern Fleet arrived on the Western Seaboard of Del Riatan territory. While the Del Riatan naval forces fought valiantly against the socialist fleet, the overwhelming numbers eventually lead to the Imperial fleet's retreat to allied territory. More naval battles are suspected as the Soviet Fleet works on repairs in a now-socialist port before heading after the Imperial fleet. The flag of the United Socialist States of Tarshish has been seen as well as their ships move to reinforce ULSS forces. ![]() Soviet Northern Fleet moves to battle the Imperial Fleet Socialist(United League of Spartacist Soviets) Casualties and Losses ~3,800 Infantry 4 Recon Aircraft 1 Fighter Aircraft 1 Armoured Cruiser 16 Torpedo Boats 3 Destroyers 6 Submarines Del Riatan Casualties and Losses ~1,200 Infantry 16 Recon Aircraft 10 Torpedo Boats 2 Light Cruisers 4 Submarines Results - Socialist Occupation of Northern Del Riata - Soviet Forces halted at Imperial trench line - Soviet blockade in effect |

Del Riatan Socialist 'Revolution' Winter, 1915 During the winter there was no serious progress made against the Imperial line. Over the course of a few months the Red Army has dug out its own trench line for some defense against enemy artillery fire. However reconnaissance over Del Riatan lines has revealed reinforced pillboxes have spread out over the long trench line. Due to the Del Riatan fortification increase their losses have gone down substantially from artillery fire. The Imperial army has received reinforcements from the South of the nation over the course of the few months which bolstered and strengthened imperial resolve. ![]() Soviet Trench Line Red Army commissars have pushed troops on to assault trenches following artillery bombardment but these assaults have been anything but fruitful. Machine gun emplacements have rendered charging the trenches almost useless. While progress has not been made in the assaults, forces have come close to entering and causing substantial damage to Del Riatan forces. Commanders report that the majority of casualties have been conscripted forces as regulars move towards other objectives. Along with this, recon fighters have provided excellent spotting for Red Army artillery and Soviet forces have been able to take effective shots at Del Riatan artillery batteries. Soviet commanders continue to work towards a strategy and ideas on how to break the Del Riatan line but so far progress has been slow with the Winter conditions slowing troop movements and reducing general effectiveness of troops. Soviet naval forces have docked and begun repairs on damaged ships and they are expected to be at full capacity and strength for the summer at the latest. Along with the ULSS fleet the USST naval admiralty has joined up with the northern fleet and is preparing for offensive preparations against Imperial naval forces. Socialist(ULSS) Casualties ~7,300 Infantry 4 Reconnaissance Aircraft Del Riatan Casualties ~1,900 Infantry ~20 Field Guns, ~200 Artillerymen Results - Soviet Ship Repairs have begun - USST naval reinforcements have arrived - Stalemate continues across trench line |

Del Riatan Socialist 'Revolution' Spring, 1915 With the coming of spring the many armies of the supporting armies from mid and eastern Esstia were free to advance towards the Imperial trench line. The warmer weather also allowed Soviet armies to advance towards their own trenches while they also began to finalize their repairs. Over the course of a month Red army forces reinforced, finished repairs and provided former front line troops with much needed rest. It wasn't long after this did Soviet forces finish their preparations for taking the Del Riatan line. The days and weeks all passed by with a symphony of artillery firing raining down onto both Del Riatan lines and the many men inside them on the battlefield. The tactic employed by Soviet forces coind the 'rolling barrage' issued artillery to continue saturating enemy lines with constant fire while allied forces advanced onto these enemies. ![]() Soviet Artillery firing shells for the 'Rolling Barrage.' While the strategy was employed very well over more than sixty percent of the Del Riatan lines, there were failures just the same. The Soviet fleet combined with the USST fleet assaulted the Imperial fleet to rob the Western trenches of naval fire support but the Red army advance was halted by their own artillery. Poor spotting and miss fires led to Soviet advancing forces not receiving the support they needed and more often than not the shells and shrapnel tearing through advancing troops. The naval battle on the other hand started very much in Socialist favor until an international fleet arrived just a couple hours into the battle. The multinational fleet numbering ships over four hundred were quickly able to reinforce imperial forces and route the red fleets. Through the month and a half of campaigning against Imperial trench lines the Red army finally gained control over most of the central and eastern trench lines but the control over the dug out fortifications was not long for Soviet control. Not but a few days following the capture of the Eastern trench line did another international force storm and trample Soviet forces now occupying Imperial lines. The assault on Soviet lines was spear headed by heavy vehicles with large main guns and smaller interior machine guns with armour too thick for any infantry weapon. The heavy and slow moving vehicles acted both as cover and a mobile artillery vehicle as the small group of them along with lighter armoured cars pushed Soviet forces back into their trenchs. The assault continuing until the Eastern Shock and Banner armies of the ULSS were in full retreat. Further attacks and movements have resulted in long range artillery being destroyed or captured with Soviet trench lines collapsing as the armoured vehicles push the Red army back. Northern Socialist Casualties ~109,300 Infantry ~3,200 Cavalry ~150 Guns, 1500 Artillerymen 16 Recon Aircraft 24 Fighter Aircraft 4 Dreadnought 3 Battlecruiser 3 Armoured Cruiser 2 Light Cruiser 20 Destroyer 63 Torpedo Boat 12 Submarine 1 Seaplane Tender Southern International Casualties ~129,000 Infantry ~1,200 Cavalry ~60 Guns, 600 Artillerymen 5 Light cruiser 88 Torpedo Boat 9 Minelayer 11 Submarine 4 Destroyer Results - Socialist fleet retreating - Imperial center line broken and falling back to the capital city - Soviet eastern flank broken and retreating - Soviet western forces still stalled |

Del Riatan Socialist 'Revolution' Summer, 1915 The summer months showed how international forces have capitalized on their breakthrough on the Soviet Eastern trench. International forces had proceeded to destroy and force Red Army artillery to retreat while smaller divisions of troops use the the former imperial trench line to ambush and flank Soviet forces as they attempt to advance towards the city. However with the lack of artillery support Soviet forces have been largely unsuccessful in its attacks on the city with Imperial forces holding out in reinforced structures. Red army operations against remaining entrenched Imperial forces have continued but have also been largely unsuccessful. ![]() Soviet forces under attack. Socialist naval forces have also been ousted from the Del Riatan waters due to the severe fleet damage sustained. International forces have proceeded to reclaim and blockade the Soviet controlled ports. The major body of the international fleet has however stopped in the Imperial controlled ports for repairs while other fleets continue their blockade. Much of the overall campaign has been successful due to the heavy operational vehicles employed by international land forces. Northern Socialist Casualties ~68,500 Conscript Infantry ~1,800 Regular Cavalry ~1,050 Guns, 10,500 Artillerymen Southern International Casualties ~100,000 Infantry ~2,100 Cavalry ~90 Guns, 900 Artillerymen 2 Armoured Cars Results - Socialist offensive halted at Del Riatan capital - Soviet Western flank surrounded - Soviet artillery support severely limited |

Del Riatan Socialist 'Revolution' Fall, 1915 - Winter 1916 The battles on the Del Riatan front have quieted down much over the last two seasons. Both international forces and soviet forces have proceeded to dig out long trench lines across the nation. The advances against socialist forces were ended when an advance was made on soviet lines resulted in the gassing and complete annihilation of several battalions of troops. From that point on no advance on the part of either side has been made against either trench line. Socialist controlled territory continues to be blockaded by international ships though much of the major facilities of the southern portion of the country have been recaptured by international and imperial forces. It is unknown how long the stalemate will last in Del Riata but talk of diplomacy has arisen from some military commanders. ![]() Overhead view of a Soviet Gassing Northern Socialist Casualties ~1,200 Infantry Southern International Casualties ~6,800 Infantry |
