Senju Ryouma
Age: 15
Gender: Male
Height: 5’9”
Weight: 172 lbs.
Hair: Ryouma has long, black hair. He normally keeps it in a braided ponytail that stops just at his shoulder blades.
Eyes: Hazel
Physical Features: Ryouma has a wholly average body build from a boy his age. Not too fat or thin, the shinobi doesn’t stand out in a crowd at first glance. One small feature that makes him stand out is that his hair and skin constantly smell of fresh pine - no matter how hard he tries to scrub the scent away. Also, the boy has begun to turn his body into a work of art to represent the glory of Konohagakure. Upon the back of his hands are tattoos of his clan symbol. He also has the clan symbol tattooed on his tongue. He has an intricate Konoha symbol tattooed on the back of his neck in green ink as well.
Clothing/Accessories: Like most Senju, Ryouma has incorporated samurai armor into his every day dress. It is made of steel, though it is not the most durable, only able to protect against small projectiles and such. He wears red and black sode, or shoulder plates, and kote, or armored glove-like sleeves. Ryouma otherwise wears very plain clothes to draw attention to his armor: black shirt with thin strips of fishnet on the sleeves, grey pants, and black boots.
Forehead Protector: Ryouma wears no forehead protector. Instead, he has the Konohagakure symbols marked into his shoulder armor plates.
Personality Ryouma is a rather easy-going guy, hardly showing more than vague interest in most situations. He is generally very calm and difficult to startle or surprise, especially evident during stress-inducing situations. He has a quiet confidence and an implied pride, which seems to put many people he encounters at ease. The shinobi values his ability to control himself and remain cool and collected in most situations. He only shows signs of intense anger when the Senju are insulted in any way, or if his friends are threatened.
The shinobi has a thick playful streak that only emerges when he is amongst his close friends and family. He loves roughhousing, chasing others, and starting tickle fights. Most people, however, have not seen this side of him; instead, most villagers who know him are only familiar with the cool, laid-back image he works hard to maintain.
Most people who know him agree that Ryouma is a friendly, amiable guy who tries to get along with his Konoha brethren. He is fiercely loyal to his village as a result of his family’s instilment of Konoha’s rank and stature. Despite his loyalty, he hates the term “Will of Fire,” simply because Mokuton techniques are particularly weak to the element. He is also intolerant of missing ninja, particularly Senju, and personally believes his comrades are too lenient in dealing with the traitors. Ryouma hopes to improve Konoha as a whole by emphasizing unity and strength.
History
No Big Deal As the first born, Ryouma was somewhat spoiled as a child, as long as he did what he was told. From an early age, his parents taught him the importance of obedience and loyalty to his clan. As a member of the clan which founded the village, he was taught, he naturally had great importance within the village and was expected to always remember his ancestors and what they did for Konohagakure no Sato.
At age five, he began training his body in preparation for his life as a shinobi. He didn’t particularly like martial arts, but he enjoyed creating small plants in his backyard and caring for them. By the time he entered the academy, he had a basic understanding of Mokuton and was quite disciplined.
That changed, however, when he made friends his own age and became more comfortable around him. Ryouma then displayed the playful, energetic side of himself that was familiar only to his parents during periods of relaxation. When he discovered girls and the importance of maintaining an image amongst his peers, Ryouma quickly learned how to reel himself in and only become truly open with those closest to him. He then made a promise to himself to use his new rank to gain further influence in his clan and village.
Though he was talented, Ryouma graduated far from the top of his class. Accustomed to his nonchalant attitude, he brushed off this fact and tried to adjust to his genin squad. He was often the peacemaker for his teammates, who often got into petty arguments with one another. Despite the initial tension, the Senju eventually had the two make their peace with one another, and the team became very close friends.
After two years of training, the team entered the chuunin exams. They had some difficulty, but the team all passed together and achieved the rank of chuunin. Upon passing, Ryouma's father gave him his first big of samurai armor, and the chuunin began to incorporate it into his uniform and every day dress.

Abilities
[1] [Mokuton] Mokuton [Wood Release] is a unique and powerful elemental affinity absolutely exclusive to the Senju clan and said to be a gift from the first shinobi. By mixing their natural affinities for Doton [Earth Release] and Suiton [Water Release] the clan is able to create strong, durable, living wood. The unparalleled utility and uses of Mokuton can range from houses to trees to even entire forests of wood. Because of their nature, unlike their parent elements, Mokuton is weak to Katon [Fire Release]and strong against Suiton [Water Release]. Mokuton created wood and trees carries small traces of circulating chakra. |
[2][Sensor] Sensors are people that are able to sense chakra and locate it. This can be done in a number of ways, but most often in the form of some sort of environmental empathy with the elements. Masters of these techniques are usually built around support or subterfuge, but usually both. Because the source of a ninja’s power is chakra, those that are able to detect it with any kind of accuracy are able to access tactical options that other ninja are incapable of. |
Jutsu
Mokuton Mokuton~Wood Release • Wood Weapon Creation TechniqueD-Ranked Ninjutsu Focusing their chakra, the user may use any pre-existing source of wood, be it a tree, floorboards or a Mokuton created source, to create weapons. The weapon created depends entirely on the user and the amount and size can be as large as the source wood. It may also be used to create multiple of smaller weapons such as Kunai, though multiple weapons take more time. This is limited to simple weapons like but not limited to kunai, shuriken, and senbon. SnareD-Ranked Ninjutsu After performing the needed hand seals, Ryouma channels mokuton chakra into either his hands or feet, then channels them into the ground towards his target. If the target is within five meters of Ryouma's position, he can create thin roots from the ground that rise and twist upward from beneath the target's feet in attempt to ensnare the target. The roots are relatively weak, able to be broken by anyone with a strength of three or greater. Wooden BootiesD-Ranked Ninjutsu After performing the needed hand seals, Ryouma coats his feet in a thick layer of mokuton chakra. The booties allow him to channel chakra into the ground more easily. The booties also gives him greater Mokuton chakra control, increasing this by +1. However, due to the nature of these booties, his speed decreases by -1. The chakra composing the booties dispel after 5 posts. Surface RootsD-Ranked Ninjutsu This is one of the most basic root creation techniques in Ryouma’s arsenal. After forming the needed seals, Ryouma channels chakra into either his hands or feet and makes contact with thee ground. When he does this, roots spread with a speed of 3 from the chakra source in a 360 degree direction around him to a radius of 10 m. The roots are not physically connected to him. Generally, the roots are relatively thin and lie just at and beneath the surface of the soil. SipD-Ranked Ninjutsu After performing the needed seals, Ryouma channels chakra into his created roots. So long as there is a source of water and Roots, Ryouma’s roots can absorb a small amount of water each post. If there is not a substantial source of water and the roots are pulling water from healthy soil, the roots are only barely able to take up water. This jutsu is best used when an ample amount of water is present. If there is a decent source of water available, in the span on two posts, this jutsu can take up enough water to fuel a few suiton jutsu. Otherwise, this may take up to four posts to collect enough water. Once the water is used, the Sip must be used again to take up more water. Storage PillarD-Ranked Ninjutsu After performing the needed seals, Ryouma creates a hollow, wooden pillar anywhere in a 10 m radius from his location. The pillar is roughly 8 feet in height with a radius of 4 feet. The pillar is somewhat sturdy, though is broken by a blow at 4 strength. The amount of water contained in this pillar can fuel several jutsu up to it's maximum volume. Rooted PillarD-Ranked Ninjutsu Prerequisite: Storage PillarAfter forming the correct seals, Ryouma causes his Storage Pillar to grow roots beneath the ground, similar to Surface Roots. The roots grow at and just beneath the surface of the soil, covering an area with a 10 m radius. These roots take up water at a relatively slow rate. If there is not a substantial source of water and the roots are ulling water from the soil, the roots are only barely able to take up water. This just is best used when a good amount of water is present. If there is a ample source of water, then the Storage Pillar will fill half-way within three posts. Otherwise, the pillar may take twice as long to fill. Connecting RootsD-Ranked Ninjutsu After performing the needed hand seals, Ryouma focuses his chakra into his roots, causing them to grow to a closer proximity to one another until the roots physically connect. This jutsu allows him to connect isolated patches of roots. In addition to connecting his roots of mokuton, this just can also connect mokuton roots to natural roots of similar size. The roots move at a rather slow speed of 3. Vine SnareD-Ranked Ninjutsu After performing the needed hand seals, Ryouma attempts to grab his opponent. If he is successful within 3 posts of creating the seals, a thick, woody vine will grow from one or both of his palms and begin to curl around the opponent. He can sever the connection between the vines and his hands, and the vines will continue to grip the target. The vines are about three inches thick and are capable of ensnaring limbs after one full post. The vines may be broken by a force with 3 or greater strength. Leech SeedD-Ranked Ninjutsu After performing a set of hand seals that ends in a snake seal, Ryouma creates a small wooden ball about half the size of a ping pong ball. If he throws this at a target and it connects, seven small, spiny roots will immediately sprout upon impact and cling to the target. Over the course of 4 posts, the seed will leech -1 stamina point from the target unless it is removed beforehand. Mini Root Bulb RestraintC-Ranked Ninjutsu After performing the needed hand seals, Ryouma creates a baseball-sized root “bulb” in the palm of his hands. He then throws the bulb at a target. If the bulb hits, it erupts in a half a dozen thin roots that grow at a speed of 5 and attempt to wrap around whatever object it hits. Each root can grow up to 5 feet as it grows and curls around the target. Once the roots begin to restrain, it takes a strength of 5 to forcefully remove them. Leech BulbC-Ranked Ninjutsu After performing a set of hand seals that ends in a snake seal, Ryouma creates a small wooden ball about the size of a ping pong ball. If he throws this at a target and it connects, seven small, spiny roots will immediately sprout upon impact and cling to the target. Over the course of 2 posts, the seed will leech -2 stamina points from the target unless it is removed beforehand. GrappleC-Ranked Ninjutsu After performing a set of hand seals, Ryouma creates from his palm a coiled, 20 foot long vine that ends in a thickened, five-pronged grappling hook. Once the grappling hook forms, Ryouma can detach it from his palm if he so pleases. The grappling hook is somewhat sturdy, though can be broken by a strength of 5 or higher. Vine HwhipC-Ranked Ninjutsu After performing the needed hand seals, Ryouma creates a long, woody vine extending from each of his palms. The vines can grow up to 15 feet long and 6 inches thick, and are capable of automatically curling around to grip objects they touch, such as weapons, projectiles, and opponents. These vines grow to their full length at a speed equal to his control to a maximum of 8, though Ryouma can stop the growth beforehand. Instead of controlling them via chakra, Ryouma physically throws the vines like whips. The vines can be broken by a force with 5 or greater strength. While the vines are attached to his palms, Ryouma is unable to perform hand seals. Coarse Root BedC-Ranked Ninjutsu After performing the needed hand seals, Ryouma channels chakra into either his hands or feet, then channels the chakra into the ground. This creates a bed of thick, highly branched roots at and below the surface of the ground to a greater depth than the shallow Surface Roots. The roots branch and spread to a radius of 20 meters with Ryouma’s location as the center. The roots spread at a speed of 5. DrinkC-Ranked Ninjutsu After performing the correct hand seals, Ryouma channels chakra into his roots. So long as there is a source of water and Roots, Ryouma’s roots can absorb a good amount of water each post. If there is not a substantial source of water and the roots are instead pulling water from the soil, the roots are only somewhat able to take up water. If there is a decent source of water, the roots can, within two posts, take up enough water to fuel a few moderate suiton jutsu. If using water in healthy soil, the roots can take up the same amount of water in three to four posts. Root WallC-Ranked Ninjutsu After performing the needed seals and channeling chakra into his hands, Ryouma holds his hand palm forward in front of him. Multiple, thick roots then begin to sprout from his palm at a speed equal to his control to a maximum of 8, curling and converging to create a large wall of roots in front of him. The wall has dimensions of six by six feet and a thickness of six inches. Though the wall is sturdy, it is rather easily destroyed by katon techniques. Root BarrageB-Ranked Ninjutsu After performing the needed hand seals, Ryouma channels chakra into the ground and creates up to four long, thick roots that can grow up to two feet in diameter and twenty feet in length. The roots grow anywhere within a 10 foot radius of Ryouma's location. The roots are tapered at the end until they are as sharp as kunai. Ryouma directly controls these roots to constantly jab at the opponent; the roots hit at a strength of 7 and are able to move them at a speed equal to his control (max:10 speed). Normally, Ryouma can only maintain this jutsu for 4 posts. Suiton SuitonSuiton • Splashing DefenseD-Ranked Ninjutsu After performing the needed hand seals, Ryouma focuses chakra to one of his hands. He then pushes his hand forward, releasing a roughly circular burst of water from his hand. The burst has a radius of about three feet and can slow small projectiles by -1 speed. The suiton bursts outward up to 3 meters before splashing to the ground. Suiton • Water ThrustD-Rank Ninjutsu After performing the hand seals, Ryouma puts both palms out in front of him and pushes them forward a bit. A burst of water with a rough diameter of three feet bursts forward from both palms at a speed of four and hits a target with a strength of three. It is only able to travel 3 meters before splashing to the ground. Suiton • Chakra TransferD-Rank Ninjutsu In order to use the water he gathers from his surroundings into his roots, Ryouma touches the roots or his mokuton creations (such as Storage Pillar), that contains the gathered water. The suiton chakra then transfers through the roots or mokuton into the water, granting him control over the water to use for jutsu. Suiton • GushD-Rank Ninjutsu Prerequisite: Roots, Suiton • Chakra Transfer After performing the needed seals, Ryouma turns his hands palm up and then lifts them. Gathered water from his Roots will then burst upwards from the source with a speed of four. The gush is not at a pinpointed location, rather coming from the entire bed of roots. Therefore, the water only hits a target with a strength of two. As a note, if Ryouma has connected multiple sets of roots, he must perform this jutsu for each set of roots created; otherwise, the gush will be severely weakened to the point where the water will be reduced to a weak spray. Suiton • Jet StreamC-Ranked Ninjutsu After performing the needed hand seals, Ryouma thrusts his hand or fist forward, releasing a long, columnar stream of water. When the jet stream hits a target, it hits as a blunt force 4 strength and moves at 5 speed. It can reach a maximum distance of 12 feet before it loses its blunt force; past this distance, it is no longer in a single column and is instead more of a strong splash, though it hits its target with considerably less force. Sensor Anticipation D-Ranked Sensor Ninjutsu Prerequisite: Feel of the Roots Ryouma does the needed hand seals, then touches a his roots that contains his chakra. Using this technique, Ryouma is able to discern the primary chakra affinity of anyone who is in contact with his roots.
Feel of the Roots C-Ranked Ninjutsu Prerequiste: Control 6 After doing the needed hand seals, Ryouma touches his roots either by hand or foot to cause his chakra to flow into the roots around him. His chakra travels at a speed equal to his control, up to 30 yards. This allows him to feel vibrations of things that come into contact with the roots. At this level, it doesn’t allow for pinpoint movements, but it does allow Ryouma to sense direction, amount of pressure, and distance.
Spurs C-Ranked Sensor Ninjutsu Pre-requisite: Roots Ryouma uses this sensory technique to track individuals who lose contact with his roots. If he senses a person in contact with his roots within 45 meters of his location, he performs hand seals, touches the roots, and then manipulates the chakra in the roots so that they form small cocklebur-sized seeds at the surface of the roots. If the spurred seeds cling to the target, Ryouma is able to sense the target’s location even after they lose contact with the roots.
