  • Personal Color: Each Awai has a specific color of hiton light. All of the member’s light techniques takes on this color. Definitions

Fusion Element:
Due to the nature of the Awai clan, members have the fusion element of Hiton, or light release. Clan members always start with Hiton as their main element. Their second and third elements are automatically gained and are Katon and Raiton. As a genin, clan members are not able to use Katon or Raiton, but they are able to use Hiton. At chuunin, they are able to use Hiton and either Katon OR Raiton. Upon reaching the rank of Jounin, they are able to use all three elements. Clan members are not able to buy any other elements.

Hiton is naturally weak to Suiton, as the water element breaks up the light particles in the fusion element, causing it to break apart.

Doujutsu:
Awai clan members have a doujutsu which allows them to see the refractions, or bending, of light around them and see through said refractions and changes in them. This means that any blinding techniques, such as Flash Tags, are completely ineffective against an Awai. In addition, they can see in almost complete darkness and are resistant to visual genjutsu, which depends on the Awai’s ninjutsu stat.

Requirements:
  • +1 above average Ninjutsu.
  • +1 above average control
  • Permanent -1 in stamina

Bloodline Limit:

Kussetsugan [Refraction Eye]
Posted Image

The doujutsu of the Awai clan, this eye allows them to see through the refractions of light and changes in it. This means that blinding them with Flash Tags and other light-based blinding techniques are ineffective. In addition, the Awai can see in almost complete darkness and have resistance to visual genjutsu. The effectiveness of the genjutsu resistance depends on the user’s ninjutsu stat.

The Kussetsugan is Constantly Active and as such is a small, constant drain on chakra. Because of this, all Awai have -1 Stamina, permanently.

History:

Several centuries ago, a man by the name of Nara Kyoten led a group of his fellow clan mates in a split from the clan in order to learn how to manipulate light rather than shadows. The members of the group eventually succeeded in developing light-based techniques, and passed on the techniques to descendents that were capable of learning them. As a result of leaving the Nara clan, the group lost access to the Nara scrolls. In addition, Kyoten and the first generation of Awai refused to teach any of their descendents the Nara hiden jutsu in order to make a complete break with the mother clan. With the death of the first generation, the secret of the Nara techniques died with them.

After several generations, the group developed a mutation in their eyes that allowed them to see the refraction of light and made them resistant – and eventually immune – to the blinding effects of their jutsu. Eventually, every descendant had this mutation, in addition to the hiton element and its constituent elements, katon and raiton. With this development, the group took on the surname ‘Awai’ and became an official clan within Konohagakure.

Over the years, the Awai grew into a large clan, respected for its fusion element and doujutsu. Though they are not as well known as some of the larger clans, they are officially recognized by the village as a major clan. Despite their growing fame within the village, most clan members make a point of not becoming too involved with village affairs.
