GENERAL RULES SECTION I Accounts Article 1.1 When signing up for this forum, it is asked that members pick a proper name. Names with numbers and special characters will promptly be changed to an acceptable alternative. Unless substantial cause is brought to the attention of the Mods or Admin of the board, there is to be a limit of one account per member. Members who create multiple accounts will be warned and have their new account(s) deleted. SECTION II Content Article 2.1 Even though this is a mature forum where a certain amount of swearing and other content is allowed, there is no reason to be posting sexual material, images or otherwise. It is okay to hint at the act of sexual acts being performed, but not the performances themselves. SECTION III Images Article 3.1 Currently, the maximum size for avatars is 100x150, signature images can be 550x150 or five hundred words, and it is asked that posted images not stretch the screen. Any image found that fails to follow the aforementioned size limits will be edited without warning. SECTION IV Posting Article 4.1 Seeing as the majority of members on this board are assumed mature individuals, or old enough to know better, here's a list of what won't be tolerated on this forum.
Article 4.2 Please, if you absolutely must add something to your post, don't post a second time just for it. Use the Edit button, it's there for a reason. Also, I know that it's just an extra step while posting, but please make use of some sort of spell check. Microsoft Word has it, and so does Jarte (Which is a free download, for those of you without MW), and I know there are several free online spell checking programs. ROLEPLAYING RULES SECTON I In-character rules Article 1.1 While we all enjoy the occasional powerful character, please don't go overboard with your characters. Keep their abilities within limits and balance them. If they have several extremely powerful strengths, give them several equally powerful weaknesses. Also, please note the differences between strengths, weaknesses, and abilities. Strengths and weaknesses are traits that a character cannot switch on or off, they're always there. Abilities, on the other hand, can be used at will. Article 1.2 Another issue that often comes up in roleplay is control over characters. Please, don't assume control of another player's character unless you've been given express permission by the owner of the character you're controlling. To be safe, send a log of the conversation to a Moderator or Admin so nobody jumps to conclusions. However, if your character encounters some NPC, such as a barkeep or shop owner, feel free to assume control of them, but keep it within reason. There's no way an NPC will just give your character whatever they want for nothing in return. Article 1.3 It is asked that you keep any of your characters restricted to involvement of only one storyline at a time. If you have a character involved in two different plots, and something drastic happens in one, it tends to create quite a bit of confusion. There is also the issue of real-time travel. When your character exits one area, they won't immediately pop up in another unless the characters involved are nearby. Article 1.4 While there is no enforced length of posts, it is asked that members maintain at least a 50-word minimum while posting. It is understood that it isn't always possible to meet a minimum without going into excruciating detail, so just put what you can. Article 1.5 Information comes in two forms for any roleplay. In-character and out-of-character. While they're often related, they should never be mixed. Often referred to as metagaming, the use of out-of-character information to obtain some form of in-character advantage or knowledge is a frowned-upon act. Please, keep OOC knowledge and IC knowledge separated. Article 1.6 While useful for expressing your current mood, it is asked that the use of emoticons in roleplaying posts is avoided at all costs. They're simply a distraction from everything else that's going on. Massive amounts of OOC is an equal annoyance in IC posts, so avoid using too much of it. SECTION II Characters Article 2.1 Each member, upon registration, is allowed a maximum of three characters. If you are in need of more than three, you'll need to appeal to the staff for an extra character, who will then judge whether or not you'd be capable of keeping more than three characters active at any given time. |
