So I like the plot that we have right now (one village, ~50 yrs of history, old village leaders), but my main concern is that it's hard to RP "mystical beast of doom" vs random Genin. I think a more "human" NPC enemy is needed - perhaps small existing settlements that were there prior to the formation of the Branch village? That gives you some nice run-of-the-mill enemies to beat up on in the first initial missions for the Genin: bandits, minor soldiers, etc. And it also makes for a more interesting storyline: perhaps the "natives" worship the bijuu as gods, and are attempting to weaken the village enough to mount an attempt to free the Ichibi? That gives some justification for combat. Also since I assume we are going to be making some Genin soon - should one of us also create a Jonin to use as a Kakashi-type trainer/teacher? (Note that I can't see the chatbox at work so if this is being discussed my apologies.) Edited by TheBoss, Jan 14 2010, 04:24 PM.

Yes it is slightly difficult to roleplay as bijuu but it can be done. The Bijuu are primarily a reason for Shinobi to exist in the first place. Some And yes, the villains we have made DO worship the bijuu as gods but i don't want to reveal too much about them. |

I suppose we should have a discussion about where to begin. I'm not sure where I stand yet. To begin in the beginning with just the Branch doesnt give us much variation but it lets us develop the world which is good. At any rate we could start with just the Branch since it'd be easier to add to it then to make a bunch of stuff just to remove it. |

Starting with just one village is fine. Having only a bijuu as an enemy isn't fine. How do you develop characters when your only enemy is some sort of supreme deity of doom? It's much easier to develop characters when random NPC enemies are on an equivalent power level. |

That's one of the reasons that starting with one village is difficult. If everyone lives in the same place and there's nowhere else to go then nobody's really going to go missing-nin and there aren't going to be bandits on the paths and whatnot. |

That's why I'm suggesting small existing settlements that were already there... natives, if you will. They worship the Bijuu and this can be the first Ninja War - and as the story develops the natives can organize into villages/Branch shinobi leave to form villages w/ natives. |

It would be great if you could do a rough draft of the setting, using that suggestion. I'm going back to school tomorrow and even if I weren't, I'm really stuck here so it would be helpful to have someone else take care of the things I'm no good at :o |

Ehh, im not too thrilled with the rp starting off with a great ninja war. Sure that brings battle and stuff, but most people like to rp in already developed areas. So that's my suggstion. 2nd of all, starting with one village doesnt sound too hot. Honestly not many people will like it if theres only one village to stay in, plus too there are no village/village interaction. I think 3 open villages would be good, and other areas could just be enemy territory where missions against monsters and bandits could be held. IMO thas what i think. Bijuu as enemy actually would be pretty funny. A change from regular naruto. Plus too, its always fun to have a group of people work completely together to take down a demon. Think of the possibilities my friends. Overall, thats my opinion. Critisize, love, adore, etc etc |

My idea... In AD 2021, war was beginning... ... <_< --- It's been nearly three centuries since the Cataclysm of the Tailed Beasts shattered Junsei and disintegrated the thriving cultures that had inhabited it. Ever since the disaster, Junsei has been a bleak, gray place. Warlord after warlord carves out their own fiefdoms of blood and dust - only to see those fledgling nations collapse upon the demise of their masters. Adepts of the lost shinobi arts wander between settlements, plying their trade as soldiers of fortune. The vast majority of people spend most of their existences attempting to draw some sort of sustenance from Junsei's barren ground. It's been a hardscrabble existence for the continent's inhabitants. But there's signs of hope. The weather cycles, long destabilized by the devastation wrought by the Tailed Beasts, has begun to normalize - creating fertile fields out of dust bowls and sprouting vegetation out of barren mountains. In the center of Junsei, a great warlord has united a nation with the aid of a powerful master shinobi. This Forest Country, supported by the military might of the Branch Village, is a fresh incarnation of the societies of old. A thriving economy, flowering fields, and military village complete with training academy - civilization has returned to Junsei. There are tales of other nations and villages out there - a nation of mountains, with shinobis wielding the elemental might of fire - a nation built upon islands, with a military force skilled in the use of ice. These are only a few of the stories that travelers have brought to the Branch Village. It is at this time, in that Village's Ninja Academy, that our story begins. To explore, destroy, or create... the choice is yours. |
