Profile

Name: Sho Tsukino (Western)
Tsukino Sho (East Asian)
"Soaring over moonlit fields..."
Nickname: (none)
Age: 16
Sex: M
Village: Hidden Sun
Rank: Genin
Clan/Guild:
Jutsu Specialty: Ninjutsu
Chakra Nature: Wind

Appearance:
Sho is around 5'11" in height and weighs in at around 170 lbs. He has a medium build and has a shinobi's leanly muscled build (trained more for speed and flexibility than for brawn). His straight black hair is long-ish - it covers his ears, and tapers down to around the bottom of his neck. He has dark brown eyes and medium-pale skin.

He usually wears standard shinobi attire - nondescript long dark pants, a short sleeved dark shirt, and a beige-ish lightly armored vest/small rucksack combination. He has pouches for various shinobi tools and medicines on the back of his belt, and a holster for shuriken strapped to his right leg. A rack of three kunai is located on the single strap of his vest/pack.

Instead of the standard open-toe sandals, he wears light martial arts shoes.

Personality:

Sho is quiet, introverted, and not very talkative. He's withdrawn and doesn't tend to seek out others. He doesn't trust people very easily but once someone gains his trust he's fiercely loyal to them. Sho is outwardly confident (almost to the point of arrogance) but inwardly more doubtful. He tends to underrate his own abilities, even when it's plainly obvious they're superior - but this contrasts with his reckless, almost suicidal behavior in battle. His greatest strength has always been his intelligence, but that's been somewhat mitigated by his utter lack of motivation.

He is calm and level-headed, and can mask his emotions very well. It's not in his nature to act impulsively on emotion, except in the rare cases where he loses control of his temper. He always seems to have a smile plastered on his face when he's around other people. That smile conceals a disgust with the violence, excess, and ignorance he believes surrounds him. His secret wish is for the power to unite the world under his own rule (or the rule of someone who shares his worldview) in order to create an utopia based on his ideals.

Biography:

The son of two Jonin of the Hidden Sun, Sho had two words imprinted in his mind growing up: "Become stronger." In his formative years, Sho believed those words completely. He spent every fiber of his being trying to become smarter, faster, and stronger. His teachers were consistently impressed with his work to access his vast untapped potential. But as he began to understand the reality of the world he lived in, Sho began to question those words. Why become stronger? To attain a higher rank so that the inevitable military funeral became more ornate? To make enough money to buy one's way out of hell? To construct a gilded reputation out of the bones and blood of other humans?

He even began to question his gaudy grades at the Academy. Were his teachers just instilling false confidence while rushing more young soldiers into the war? Was the village really interested in teaching him how to fight, or was it just looking for another warm body to throw at the enemy? Sho began to become more withdrawn and fatalistic as he got closer and closer to graduation. He drifted further and further away from his classmates - "if I don't become close to them, maybe it won't hurt so much when they inevitably depart this world." His motivation slowly withered away to nothing.

This withdrawal corresponded with a growing schism in Sho's mind. He harbored a developing bitterness towards the world he lived in: the constant paroxysms of war convulsing the world, the shedding of seas of blood over inches of land, the ignorance of self-absorbed feudal lords concerned with only their own pride, and the debased excesses shinobi involved themselves in to deal with the horrors of combat. But at the same time, the inevitable pangs of loneliness began growing. He hungered for acceptance by his peers, and for the blissfully ignorant camaraderie that war created amongst fellow soldiers.

His graduation from the Academy gave him purpose. Now he would be the one fighting in the front lines of the war. Sho vowed to always be where the battle was fiercest. There were two reasons for this. The first being the allure of oblivion, of dying a quick death to escape from this wretched world. The second, of course, was to become stronger. Because if he constantly fought and constantly challenged himself, perhaps he could gain the strength to change the villages. Perhaps he could gain the strength to heal the world.

"Soaring over moonlit fields, and sowing the seeds of salvation..."

Everything is looking good so far. The only things that need work are your Inventory (The things you've posted need to be created and assigned costs) and Jutsu list (Aside from your Academy Jutsu, you'll have about ten free Jutsu at start-up), but we'll take care of those when we get some created.

Another mild concern is your biography, which I may ask you to review once we get up the history of Junsei and the villages for continuity purposes. For example if we decide that there was a recent war in the Hidden Sun, or some other event that would realistically alter your character's past, we'll have to reflect that.

I'm pretty sure we've got a Weapon/Item template up in the creation area, if you'd like to help out and get the weapons you posted out of the way. As for Jutsu, I'm working on the Basic Academy Techniques list at the moment, and they should be posted by tomorrow.

Once you update the missing information, you'll have earned your 1/2 from me.

I was under the impression that there's been constant war... that's the only assumption I made in the bio. v_v

Also a suggestion - shouldn't Genin get some kunai and shuriken to start out with? I assume villages wouldn't want their Genin walking around unarmed because they are too poor to afford weapons. :|

That's why Genin start with 100 Ryo, which gives them a choice in the matter :3

Yeah but I mean these are military organizations... the Army doesn't just say "here's $100, go buy a gun with it... or you can buy a lot of beer with it." They just give you the gun and the pay.

True enough. I suppose you should start out with a few kunai and shuriken. When we finish everything and get to the point where everything is set up and we can approve chars, we'll have an idea of what we're gonna do about starting equipment. Till then just sit tight :D
