Lendy Holmes -- Missed tackle on Harvin's long run. Poor angle, effort.

Curtis Taylor -- Physical tackler. Sorta sloppy. Needs to wrap-up.
Taylor 27 - Big upper body. Can hit. Good box Safety. Fights off blocks to get to the ball. Wrap-up tackler with some power.
27 - CF? Made bad read. UF scored long TD. Big arms. Physical tackler.

Goddard --- Plays the ball well. Looks good in man coverage. Has good hands. Has good awareness and always seemed to be in the right place at the right time in 2008. Passive tackler. Only looks comfortable when he's coming up vs a stationary WR in space.

Fryar 6 --- INT vs ILL. Had inside position and just played the ball well.

Biggers 1 --- Plays on STs. Picked off overthrow and had a nice run back. CB/S. Solid tackler.

Walters - Good hitter. Physical tackler.

== 2007 Stuff ==

# 29 SS Sha'reff Rashad - 6'0, 198 ... led in tackles, had 4 INTs. PBU in endzone vs Texas (’07). Has good awareness in man coverage. Solid hitter.

#45 FS Jason Venson - 5'10, 211 ... 2nd in tackles, had 3 INTs. Has a thick build. Wrap-up tackler. Aggressive vs the run. Can get lost in coverage. Effective in the box.

__________________

Casillas - Stuffed Wells on a TFL. Just filled a gap and held his ground.
#2 Casillas - Has power when he hits. Trouble with cut blocks in space. Speed?

Levy -
#11 Levy - Okay feet. Speed, range? Fights off cut blocks.

Matt S. - Good tackler. Played DT in some sets.

Newkirk - Way undersized, but does use his hands well. Fights off blocks better than I expected. Small, but only a limited athlete

Swift - 87 - Tough. Will work the middle. Good hands. Can make tough catches. Adjusts well to the ball. Knows how to get open.

Slade Norris - RDE. Effort guy. Limited athlete. Okay spin move.

Fouku --- Athletic guy shows some coverage ability.
Fouku - Has some cover skills. Has some playmaking ability. Generally a wrap up tackler. Breaks on the ball.
48 - Got QB off the edge when he fell down in the backfield. Covers slot receivers in some sets.

A. Dixon 96 - Had a TFL vs UVA. Shed RG and tackled RB on a run up the middle. Got a TFL when the OT forgot to block inside.

Passmore - Very quick, elusive. Good body control. Good hands. Can make tough catches. RAC ability.

Lawlor 33 - Slender build for FB. Sort of dives at his targets. Solid power runner. Doesn't show the kind of strength and pop you'd really like in a FB.

Rubin 9 - Solid tackler. Will fight off blocks. Excellent size. Good athlete. Can be a good hitter.

* Oklahoma WR Manuel Johnson had a monster game against TCU. He caught 5 passes for 206 yards and 3 TDs. One TD was a bomb. Another TD was an intermediate pass that he had to do some running on. The final TD was a short throw that Johnson grabbed and took off up the field with. He raced untouched for the score. He showed pretty good speed on all 3 plays. He's taking advantage of the extra throws. Last year Malcolm Kelly would have gotten many of his passes. Manuel caught only 31 passes last year. He's already got 21 in only 4 games.

* Akron moved Andre Jones from defense to WR this year. He struggled in the season opener, but has been improving. Jones now has 20 catches for 326 yards and 4 TDs. He's got good hands for a DB, but I'm not sure how they rate for a WR. I'm interested to see how Jones looks when I put on the game tape.

The Zips also moved RB Bryan Williams. He went to DB. I haven't watched him at all. His numbers are okay. He picked off a pass in the opener. He has 27 solo tackles and 2.5 TFLs. Williams is averaging almost 33 yards per KOR.

DE Phillip Hunt had a big game in the win over UAB. He had 8 tackles and 3 sacks. Hunt looks a little too straight line to me. I didn't see the kind of COD ability I really like in a pass rusher. He does something unusual...lines up in a 4 point stance quite a bit. you don't see a lot of that anymore. I sorta like it.

Week 12 * Davon Drew - Made a spectacular catch down the right sideline. Split out on the play.

B. UNDERWOOD

# 55 Trey Covington – LB - 6'3, 240 ... 34 starts, LEO.

A. Magee --- LDE. Lacks speed, burst. Disciplined.

A. Heygood 42 --- Okay speed. Solid tackler. STer.

Sulak - Fast. Gets off the ball very quickly.

B Christopher - Needs to tackle with more power.

Robert Francois 35 - Looks agile. Good feet.

Joe Burnett - Locates the ball well. Can play off. Good awareness. Fluid hips. Can press.

* Hunt - TE - 87 - Catches the ball smoothly. Slender build.

Burley - LT - Fired out and took on LB smoothly on run play. Battles in pass pro. Lines up really deep on pass plays. Shifted over to RT in the 2nd half.

Philistin - 34 - Looks agile, athletic. Around the ball a lot. Okay at shedding blocks. Lots of tackles are downfield. Doesn't flow to ball. Runs and that gets him out of position at times.

31 - Toddrick Verdell - Had INT and 31 yd return. Leapt up for the ball after dropping into his zone. 6'3, 225. Started off at JC.

Antone Smith - Pretty good speed. Strong for size. Runs with balance. Pretty good vision. Solid on cutbacks.

* Mike Wallace - 17 yd TD catch. Let ball come to him (too passive). Had a long TD catch down right sideline.

Ashlee Palmer

OSU 1 - Beaten by FB on TD pass. Slow to turn. Slow chasing. Good hit on WR along sideline. Missed tackle on #2 across middle. Set the edge on running play by taking on 2 blkrs and forcing the RB inside. Slow to get to Sanchez even when unblocked on bootleg pass.

USC 84 - Played DT for a lot of the game. 3-4 look made him more of an inside guy. Just missed a sack in the 3rd Qtr when unblocked.

43 - Offsides. Missed tackle on Pryor. TFL on Pryor run. Looks good attacking upfield.

he Owls have a LB named Brian Raines. He does look pretty athletic. He only goes about 6'1, 220, though. Raines had a huge year in 2006 while playing in a 3-3-5 scheme. New coaches changed to a 4-2-5 last year and Raines wasn't as much of a playmaker. He's out of place inside. Raines needs to be out in space where he can run to the ball. He showed some coverage ability in the game I watched. Good tackler. I certainly think Raines will be more comfortable in his second year in the scheme. Raines has good numbers for each of the last two years. In '06 he had 85 solo tackles, 12.5 TFLs, and 5 forced fumbles. In '07 he had 46 solo tackles, 10.5 TFLs, and 3 FFs. A big Senior year will get Raines some national attention and help his bid to get drafted.

* East Carolina LB Quentin Cotton played well in the Pirates upset of Va Tech. He had 5 tackles, 1/2 a sack, and an INT. He just missed another pick. You love it when kids step up and have a big game against good competition.

* Nelms - Sack from LDE. Hustled and stayed low. INT in 1st half. Plays both sides. Pursues well.

* Mickens - INT. Went up high and plucked the ball. Good hit on WR after short catch.

= Felder - Physical tackler. Does an okay job of shedding blocks and making tackles.

Oregon - 57 lt - Can be a pretty good run blocker. Good effort. Doesn't have great feet. Freezes them at times in pass pro.
