Greedy Draft Pick Whore
|
TO the OILERS: G - Rick Dipietro TO the ISLANDERS: G - Pascal Leclaire G - Tyson Sexsmith LD - Jakub Kindl C - Robbie Schremp 1st round pick in 2008 (STL) 1st round pick in 2010 (EDM) --- Somebody stepped up big. I'm losing an elite goaltender, one of the hardest positions to fill, but I feel like this is a very strong offer that could help up the team's future immensely. Where to start... First of all, I'm taking a huge risk. I need to win games, and this will not help me win games, at all. But it's a chance I'm willing to take because I'm so god damned dangerous (lensflare) B) I bring in a younger goalie in Leclaire, who is an adequate starter but not elite like Dipietro. I also get a prospect goalie that I targeted in the draft, who I feel will develop into a solid backup. I get a solid LD prospect, who my scouts are mixed on (one says 1-2, one says 5-6). Kindl should at least become a 3-4 guy, which is fine with me. Schremp is a guy my scouts like now, and he will get a chance to battle it out with Goc and my prized franchise player in Andersson for top-6 duties. I also get two 1st rounders, one this year and one in the future. These picks will be late but should bring in a good prospect. And that's about it. I accept. |

Losing a lot of youth will hurt. With players like Syvret, Vishnevskiy, Ellerby, Ross, Green and Gilbert i still have a lot of young players to help losing Kindl... Shcremp is another guy who could hurt to lose, but again with players like Staal, Eller, Cammalleri, I still have a lot of young players to play Center... Sexsmith has Deslauriers (AHL's most valuable player) ahead of him. And i'll get another chance to draft a goalie that's probably better than him next year... Losing the picks mean i still have 2 picks in the first round next year and 1 left in 2010... Leclaire will be a decent starter. But no DiPietro... I accept |

Meh. Not a bad swap, actually. TO the ISLANDERS: G - Pascal Leclaire -- Not a good starter G - Tyson Sexsmith -- Maybe a backup one day LD - Jakub Kindl -- Career Ahler C - Robbie Schremp -- Fourth liner, Ahler (too slow) 1st round pick in 2008 (STL) -- I hope to finish closer to the top than bottom, so expect this pick to be in the 10 to 15 range. 1st round pick in 2010 (EDM) -- Oilers are loading up on talent. Edited. Had nothing to do with this trade. Edited by drewst18, Oct 5 2009, 05:56 PM.

Byfuglien and Comeau are third liners, of course. |

I don't mean any offense. I just don't believe that Edmonton got robbed. It's a fair deal. Those picks should be good, because according to league officials, the 08 draft is grand, and, IMO, I believe the regens beging attacking in 2010. |
