No Waiver Period

Guys, we are enacting a No Waiver Period from Mar 25 through May 20. Many GM's dump salary during this time to have more room to resign other players. The problem that arises is that many of the GM's that aren't in the playoffs dont check in regularly and the playoff GM's end up getting good players for free. The strong teams get stronger. Not to mention that we have to watch that those players arent used in playoff games. So, if you want to dump a player, do it by monday's sim. Otherwise, you are stuck with them until June 1. You will still have a month to try to get your other players signed.

**If there are any special cap circumstances with playoff teams, we will address the issue at that time.

Suggestion:
Instead of no waivers, how about allowing waiver pick ups, but disallowing the GM to use the new acquisition in a game.

We tried a no-waiver rule and found it impossible to manage, especially with AGMs and other strange EHM issues.

Agreed...right now anyone can waive a youngen they want to get to the minors, not worry about him being claimed and then just say oops..leave waivers open and the guy can't play if he gets claimed, but whatever works for you =P I don't use waiver to often

Well, if he gets waived. Bring him back up. If he's in the NHL when he clears he goes back to waiver eligible, loses the thirty day/ten game deal. It is a toughie to try and enforce, but, allowing them to be waived in the offseason sucks, it hurts FA big time since guys put enough people on waivers it comes off the books if they get claimed and allows teams to sign more high end players. If we're going to try and make fa season more exciting this would be a way to do it; if we can enforce it.

If you've got active GMs, FA sucks regardless.

I can't believe it would be a good thing to handcuff GMs trying to sign their own players. You might have Bill Guerin, or whoever, making $5.5M a year and about to become a UFA.

And you might have two young guys just months away from free agency.

Waiving Guerin might be the only way to free up the cap space you need to keep your young guys. But even though Guerin is a UFA, your board is too stupid to realize it and won't let you offer a reasonable contract.

Solution? Waive the old guy to save the young guys.

I don't think it's a good idea to have a rule that handcuffs active GMs because some GMs decide to ignore their team after failing to make the playoffs.

And then you're giving a higher end player away for nothing to a bottom feeder which is no solution either. Either way I'm sure we'll figure it out.

Drew, I wasn't referring to young players who don't have to clear waivers, only the vets that could be claimed by someone else.
