Milwaukee Bucks' Set to Charge with New Pack
BY : Beat Writer JAY AUST |||| JAUST.
August 8, 2008 // 8 - 8 - 2008

Milwaukee, WI ---- As the Milwaukee Bucks got set to begin a new season, they began what was to be an active offseason by hiring young, unproven General Manager in jaust. Jaust. had been recruited by other general managers around the league to take over this Bucks team that had little to work with and nothing to build upon from last season. Jaust. "happily" took the job saying he would be able to turn this franchise into a gem. After last season's lottery bound team, GM jaust. knew changes needed to be made. With no one under the age of 32, this young team was ready to catapult into something special. When jaust. was introduced to the media as general manager he let everyone know that no one was safe and that he had to do what was best for the team. Soon after this last year's team captain Michael Redd and put in a phone call to new general manager to see his status with the team. Michael who has spent his entire career with the Bucks, was drafted 43th overall in 2000 and was known as the face of the franchise after the likes of Ray Allen, Gary Payton, and Glen Robinson blew by. Redd phoned the newly hired GM to only find out that if anyone was safe, it was him. In an interview given my ESPN's own Mark Stein, Redd said GM jaust. had said he would "entertain and listen as he promised to the media" but Redd was assured that he would "not" be traded unless it was something that would really changed the franchise. Currently Redd is in Beijing, China where he is with the Olympic U.S.A. team competing for a gold medal.

Soon after though, Redd was let known that his team mates were not for stay as the General Manager was looking to create a dynasty and hopefully put Redd's years of prime to good use. The 1st to go was newly draft Joe Alexander for Corey Brewer. In a conference call, GM Jaust. said that Alexander's short stay was pleasant, but getting someone like Brewer who had championship experience (His gators won in 2006/2007) and someone who could give immediate help to the Bucks franchise. When Corey was introduced to the Milwaukee Media he mentioned being excited and ecstatic about what he sees in this franchise. Corey says that GM jaust. has bright plans for this team and that Milwaukee will be a premier player in the league in the up-coming years.

Corey smiles at what he sees in Milwaukee.

When the league thought he was done, he had pulled something close to a blockbuster when he traded former Bucks number 1 pick Andrew Bogut, newly added rookie L.R. Mbah a Moute, and expiring Malik Allen for a signed and traded Raymond Felton, up-and-coming sophmore Spencer Hawes, and a 1st and 2nd round pick in 2010. This deal totally puts the franchise in a new perspective. Bogut who was known to be Redd's sidekick since arriving with the Bucks in 2005 was now traded, it let the whole team know that no one is safe. This trade GM Jaust. had said was made to solidify our roster in the Center position and in Point Guard position. He was quoted in saying, "Yes, Bogut was starting to blossom in Milwaukee, but we couldn't pass up a deal where we could acquire a Center who we feel can get close to Andrew's talent and at the same time get a point guard who we think can become a top-tier point in the league who also brings championship experience (Won NCAA TITLE IN 2005 WITH NORTH CAROLINA). Not only that, we acquire two picks in 2010 in which we feel can provide a solid addition to our youth in that year. We thank Bogut, Mbah a Moute, and Allen's contribution to the Bucks franchise and wish them well in the future." With this move, the Bucks now have a solid roster from point to center, but with the new GM making moves around the clock, who knows what to expect next. Rumor around the league is the GM is trying to pick up newly waived and talented Marvin Williams and veteran point guard Speedy who can also be valuable additions to the team. As the team begins to tip off a new season, the city of Milwaukee has never been more excited as flavor has finally been added to it's well-cherished franchise. The general manager is working the phones trying to make this franchise better and better at any chance he gets and the fanbase of the Bucks has never been stronger. With something to cheer about, will the Bucks finally bring something better then just a 1st round exit this year? We'll have to wait and see.
