Attention Earthlings Hootmans Everybody!

It appears that after several months of lurking on these forums that I've finally manned up and decided to post and say hello to everyone here! I've been following some of the artwork around here and have been dabbling in some of it myself, but I'm pretty far from decent at the moment. Naturally all shapes and sizes are beautiful, it's that wide range of variety that makes people all that more awesome!

Well, of course More is Better a lot of the time, and I hope to post more artwork as time passes. I'm not really confident enough to make a Deviant Art Page quite yet, but I appreciate any constructive criticism or suggestions you guys have! Enjoy~

This was a preliminary design for a character I've had swirling about in my head for a while, it's a pretty early picture, no doubt you can tell why.

Posted Image
An actual drawing of the character in question, playing with perspective and distance in this one.

Another picture, but the same character. Just wanted to explore some kind of "softness" if you get what I mean.

The latest picture of this character (I ought to give her a name), pretty happy with this one, but again, need to get a lot better at this!

Thanks for checking this out! I look forward to killing you soon posting more soon!

Thank you very much! I need to improve, get better at this, and all those usual things. Do you have any suggestions? Maybe for scenes, characters, or just techniques?

BTW, new picture coming up, maybe it's time to upload these to DA... Mmms...

Swim-Suits are an obligatory thing.

Ooh, I like the way you colored this, gives it a paintbrush feel. As for ways to improve, you could always try drawing gals at different angles (side, back, upward or downward views) and maybe different weights and distributions (top-heavy, belly-heavy, bottom-heavy, etc). As for scenes, perhaps some that show some dynamics of poses too, with different movements and the like.

Overall I'd say you've got a lot of skill and potential ZEX, you've got hutzpah.

I honestly think you had a better thing going when you used solid colors. The swimsuit girl looks a bit too over saturated and the brush strokes create an illusion of texture that is somewhat confusing (her hair looks more like it's made of some colored precious stone than actual hair).

Still, I agree with Nexis, I see potential.

Thanks for the suggestions and critic folks! I really ought to improve my hair shading and texturing techniques, I've gone over the picture again to address some of the issues, I hope this is much better!

I'll continue doing pictures of this OC, I'll give her more context aside from "This is a Person, Here".

Let's see how far down this rabbit hole goes~

That's much better, still too glossy on the hair and swimsuit for my taste, but were getting somewhere. I'm gonna show you some examples of what I think you should try to aim for next time. (Which I will keep in spoilers so as to not clutter your thread with non Mr. ZEX drawings).

Now, I'm not the best teacher ever, but bear with me.

HAIR EXAMPLES

WHILE I'M AT IT... HERE'S SOME GENERAL HIGHLIGHTING TIPS

And that's pretty much all I want to say about the matter. I didn't wanna just say "you suck, do this better" and walk out like I sometimes see people around here do. I hope it helps in some way... And take it however you want, I'm not saying you should DO these things down to the T, after all an artist ultimately creates his/her own style by breaking some of the rules ;)

Also, I was glad to see someone knows how to take criticism so I felt motivated to share my thoughts. I see good things in your future.

Thanks for the advice Block Devil!

I've got to work more and more towards improving, and it's been a bit since I last posted, but I hope you guys enjoy this! This is more of an experiment with colouring techniques.

I have to say, the pose was very well done in regards to her body size and the posture of her limbs. Her facial expression is well done too, I'd say this is some great progress of your art ZEX :)

Welp, it's been a long time, but I managed to get back into the account here! I'm rusty, but I decided to give this art shindig another shot.

Hope this is a step in the right direction! :)
