With Hollywood remaking everything these days, it's only a matter of time before no original movies or TV shows are made at all and all the creatvity in the world disappears because coporate, money-hungry whores only want to make shows and movies that have made money in the past! But there really isn't much point, because they are almsot alwasy crap-fests with bad acting and a budget ten times to big. So with all the movies/shows that have been remade in the past, what one do you hate the most and which ones are you REALLY not looking forward too? Alternatively, you could tell us what your favourite remake is, if you have one. I normally steer clear of remakes as I know they will usually be bad, but the only one to really make me mad is one that isn't even out yey. MCSpaced. An American version of Spaced that is being made without Simon Pegg or Edgar Wrights approval. God, what are they going to do too it? I can see it now, Canned laughter, Bad American Over-Acting, Bad Jokes! I hope it never reaches these shores. Ever. Edited by Bob, Apr 2 2008, 05:41 PM.

...Although I am totally against the American Spaced due to the horrible way in which Channel Four just sold the rights without consulting Simon Pegg or Edgar Wright (or even mentioning Jessica Hynes who wrote the bloody thing) the American version of the Office I actually like very much. It's different but in a good way, making them seperate entities you can enjoy seperatly. And I'm not totally against remakes. I sick of all the remakes of Horror films, especially of great Japanese ones, though. And also I hate it when people blame something for being a remake when it isn't. Take Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for example. People said it was a remake of Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory when it was actually just a more faithful adaptation of the book. Some remakes, I think, have been great. And if I ever got into the movie industry, I would love my movies to be remade. The sign of a good story is that it can be told again throughout time. An example would be King Kong - the same story has been told many times now and I am of the opinion that both the original and the latest version are great films. Interesting discussion. |

Although they're not strictly remakes, I am of the opinion that the Alien films just got worse as they continued. The franchise worked for one, maybe two films but after that it started to get silly and Resurrection was frankly dreadful... And that's not mention AvP which was atrocious. I have high hopes for AvP II however, don't ask me why. The trailer really suggested that they'd cut all the bullshit out and just gone back to good old "everybody, even small kids, gets fucked over by the facehugger guys"

AvP II made me want to change into an alien and keep my human side in a Fob Watch because it made me so embarrased that I was of the same species that made that pile of shit a Cess Pool cleaner would gag at. BTW, Bob, that is a truely amazing avatar! I wonder who made it! |

Bloody hell... Ok, plague avoidance it is. I saw Doomsday today, pretty good for an action virus-flick... Those seem to be getting about these days. |
