Welcome to another league of Baseball Mogul 2010.

Why enter this league? Becuase this is a fun and active league with some spice in it.

Features that seperates our league from the rest:

1) New Power Rankings after every sim.
2) A friendly and active league. If someone is too inactive, they will be replaced, also if someone is clearly being a jerk all the time, they will be replaced too. The goal is to have thirty people that enjoy baseball and like to chat about baseball as well as the game.
3) Keep rosters and transactions up to date. Considering I am on all the time, I can keep knock off the pending transactions as they come up. I plan on having the new league file posted to download each and everyday.
4) A friendly and very active admin. I will be on everyday, unless posted other wise.
5) Compensation picks for Type A and B players
6) Japanese Bidding

As for the rules

Each section of the forum should have rules posted.

Here are the general rules:

1) Please change your profile name to your team’s nickname. This will allow everyone in the forum to know who they are talking with. Please do not use spaces between your nickname and GM. Example. PhilliesGM. To change your profile name, click on your user name on the top left corner, then go under “profile options” and select “edit profile”. Finally, select the option “change username” and enter the correct new user name.
2) This is an adult league so a little bit of language is fine, but please try to keep it in check. Please refrain from excessive use of smiles and punctuation.
3) Have your team file uploaded on time. The team file should include your updated lineup, wanted ticket prices and expenses, and your desired strategy.
4) Trades need to be posted in the forum and approved by an admin. Almost all trades will be accepted. Only two scenarios will get a trade rejected: putting a team too far into dept, (and / or) the trade is extremely in favor of one person.
5) Siming will occur about everyday and will go about a week each time (this will be set to popular demand. A more detailed schedual will be created when all features are decided upon.
6) FA, trades, and trading block will all have their own rules posted under each respected part of the forum.

Other notables:

The game will be simulated on manager difficulty.
Simmulating schedual is still yet to be made (I have decided that it will be one week for each day).

Since there are so many rules I decided to make it easy on you guys and put them all in one place:

The Cardinal Rules:

1) Your name in the forum and chat room should be your team’s nickname + GM at the end
2) Use the date as the title for a post under any thread in the transaction part of the forum (only exception is under the pending trade offers, which should be the trader’s team names).
3) Be active, a weeks worth of inactivity is bounds to kick you out of the league (unless posted under “Away Time”)

Team Files:

How To:

Select your team and create a new topic. The topic title should be the current date (helps me see which ones are new and which ones are old). In the subject area, post the link of your team file. To do this, follow the following instructions:

To save your team in Baseball Mogul 2010, you must click on the “tools” button and scroll down to “advanced tools…” from the menu. With the new window open select “export team” the top left option. Select where you want to save the file. The format of the file should show xxx.team, so you don’t have name anything (the file also automatically rewrite over the old obsolete team file).

To get your team file uploaded follow these instructions: Go to this site http://www.sendspace.com/ When you arrive, click the “upload” tab, and use the “browse” button to locate your xxx.team file. Your team file should only have three letters in it. Example would be Sea.team. When you are ready, click the “Upload File”. When the new page is done loading, copy the files web page address and put this into your post. The link should look something like this: http://www.sendspace.com/file/x361oq

IMPORTANT NOTICES (Rules):

Please, when you change your lineup, strategy, player positions, prices, and expenses, use the most current game file. The game file is under the Game File folder.

You may not add or remove anyone from your roster (via trade, release, or free agency). I will personally do the rosters adjustments myself. All you have to do is wait for the next Game file update.

You only need to update your lineup, strategy, player positions, prices, and expenses, when you feel necessary and is not a daily requirement. At the start of a season, it would be nice if everyone turned a team file in.

Pending Transactions:

How to do:

The topic of the post should have the two team names (or three) that are involved in the teams. The body of the post should include the players that being traded. The details of each player should include: position, name, overall/peak, age, contract (amount and length). This will make it easier for an admin to approve of the trade and speed up the pending process.

Basically, anything that can be traded in the game, can be traded in this league. If you want a multi-team deal, all the GM’s must agree with the trade.

Example:

Topic: Twins / White Soxs

Twins send:
SS Nick Punto (76), 31, 4.25M for 2 years
SP Anthony Swarzak (78/86), 23, 380K for 3 years
White Soxs send:
1B Jim Thome (83), 38, 14M for 1 year

After the post is made, each of the players must approve the trade and comment on why they are doing the trade to help the admin better understand what is going on.

Rules:

An admin will have to approve of the trade for it to be finalized. If done so, the trade will be in the next updated game file. The thread of the proposed trade will be closed and relocated to “Accepted Trades”.

Rules for disapproval: I personally do not like it when people get all worked up with a trade that isn’t even theirs. If someone is looking to unload a player, and may except a less than great deal, it is their wish and not yours. With that in mind, I will approve of most, if not all trades. There are two things that will get your trade disapproved.

1) If the trade puts one team’s projected profit too far into the red. I guess I do not have a magical number or percent, but if it looks like there needs to be one, I’ll create one.
2) If it looks like a team is giving up and giving away all their best players or a trade is ridiculously favored to one side.

If there is enough disputing over an issue, it will be voted on with a pole.

Free Agents:

Here are the rules on how this leagues free agency is going to work:

1) The GM with the highest bid to a player after 48 hours of the first bid, will win the contract with the player.

2) To start a bid on a player one must start a new topic with the title being the player, position, and (overall/potential). An example would be:
RP Derrick Turnbow (80)

2) In the subject, re-list the player, position, and (overall/potential), but also include the player’s age and the bid offer (x amount of dollars for x amount of years). Here is an example:
RP Derrick Turnbow (80), 30, 1.5M for 3 years

3) Obviously a GM entering a bid on a player, must outbid the previousr GM. Increasing years does not count.

4) A GM may not enter a bid on any player if their orginization is projected to lose more money than they have on hand.

5) Notice: The player must accept the contract offer in your personal game for it to be legal bid on a player.

6) In the special case of a free agent over 85 overall, the following process will happen. The start is the same as a normal free agent, but when the first 48 hours are over, the top three offers will be warned. At this point each of these three GM’s can private message me with a new offer (or keep the old one). After all three offers are in or another 48 hours have passed, the player will be awarded to the highest bidder.

7) When the free agent is awarded to a GM, the topic will be locked, and the new player should appear on your roster with the next roster update file.

Trading Block:

Rules:

The post's title must be the date, so that other GMs will now how new the post is.

How To:

When posting players you are willing to trade away, please the players name, position, overall/peak, age and contract. This will help other GMs gauge if they want to enter talks with you over that player. You may also make a list of players that you are absolutely not willing to trade.

Looking to Aquire:

Rules

Just try to be as pacific as possible. As for posting format, anything kind of goes here. Your title could be what you are looking for, or it can be just the date (so other GMs will know how resent this need is). If you have completed a trade that acquired what you were looking for (or wish to stop looking anyways) and wish not to receive any more offers along those lines, post or private message an admin that you want the topic closed.

Suggestions:

1) You could start off by saying if you are looking to buy or sell players. (Trying to acquire good players now (buying), or selling your players for good prospects and hoping for a brighter future).
2) Post specifically what you want. Some categories one might consider: Position, overall, peak, age, skills (power, defense, lead off), versatility and contract (price and years).
3) Give a range of values. This applies for about everything. Instead of just saying looking for good short stop, say something like looking for short stop 85+ overall. Another example would be looking for a catcher prospect younger than 22 and has a peak of 90+ with a contract under 200k a year.

Suggestions for other GMs:

1) List all the options, if you have more than one player that fits the bill, that you are willing to part with, list them all.
2) List the full details of the player. If the GM wants a power bat, list the guy’s power, as well as his other key categories.
3) Finally, give one or two plausible trades that you are willing to do.

Releases:

How to:

The procedure to do this is to find your team’s folder and start a new topic. The title of the topic should be the date (helps me know when you have released new players). The subject should include the players you wish to cut. Each player that you wish to cut should have his full name and the position he played.

Example would be: SP Gil Meche

Rules:

To release a player you must pay out 50% of his remaining contract. The Game File will have commissioner’s mode on and will allow you to release any player for free, but when this is turned off, the release price will go back up to 50%. Please make sure your team has enough cash to buy out the players contract out. You can see how much cash you have from the finance tab in the game. Your released player should be off your roster with the next game file update.

Examples:
Gil Meche of the Royals makes 11.4 Million for 3 years. The cost to buy out the rest of his contract would be 17.2 million dollars.
Johnny Damon of the Yankees makes 13 Million for 1 more year. To buy out the rest of his contract would cost 6.5 million dollars.

Contract Extension:

How to do:

First of all, make sure commissioners mode is turned off. Select your team from the line ups list, and then select the player you are trying to extend their contract with. After opening up the scouting screen of the player, at the bottom of the page, there should be an option of “negotiate” (the player must only have one year left on his contract or the option will be grayed out). From here, the negotiations are up to you.

Rules:

The first option is to do the contract extension yourself. To do this follow the “how to do”. After completely your players contract extensions and any other team tidbits you wanted to change, export your team file and upload it to the forum. The contract extension should appear in the next game file update. The only other thing you need to do, is just post what you have done. The extension with this player's name and position should be posted in this part of the forum (under your team). This allows others to see the extension and know that the player will not be eligable for the free agency at the end of the year.

Example: 3B Joe Crede extends his contract for 4 years at 3 million dollars per year. The extension is included in the team file.

The second option is to let one of the admins do the extension for you. To start this read the “How to do” part and negotiate with the player. When the player agrees to an extension, post the player, his potion and the contract agreed to. After it is posted in the forum, an admin will go into the game file and do the contract extension personally. The extension should be included in the next game file.

Example: 1B Travis Hafner extends his contract for 4 years at 2.75 million dollars a year. Please do this extension for me.

Important:

The title of the posted topic must be the date, or I will never know which extensions are new or old. The post should include the players name and position with the new contract details (feel free to do multiple ones at once). Also, please let me know if you expect an admin to do the extension personally or that it has already been done and included in the team file.
