Right ive the doors boot an bonnet done but need to tackle car, ive fucked up the clear coat so badly with runs and trying to mask it up for touch ups ive had to nitromor the shell and start again :WALL: :WALL: :WALL: I was so mad i near stamped on the car. Where i seem to have the main faults is runs no matter what distance i hold can or orange peel when too far away with can feel i cant win. I'm having to spray out doors in the cold which isnt helping :WALL: Ive tried warming both paint and clear coat and heating shell with hair dryer till both are warm and still no joy. I realise this style of black isnt easy but is it really gotta be such a mission????

The last model I painted was a Gloss Black mk1 Escort, ended up painting it twice as I wasnt happy with it first time (plus It jumped off the painting table)

Second time I flatted EVERY coat of primer paint and clear.
Left it for a week, wet flatted it back, then used a tip from Petey used this stuff.

Followed by a good polish.

yes as longdog said wet flat between each coat you will need a light touch with the wet & dry but it's worth the effort - also try to apply light coats instead of just one heavy coat
i also had problems with my first paint job - my problem was not waiting long enough to mask up for the windows rubbers the paint was still soft and the masking tape pulled all the paint so i ended up strippingg the paint of and starting again - so i know how you feel i just wanted to smash the fook outa it with my big bad hammer but i held back and re did it and the second paint job was spot on - it's the orange MKI Escort below
also dont worrie too much about a slight orange peel it can be wet flatted and polished out but let everything harden off for a good week at least IMO

Only done one black car, tried using matt black with clear first and just wouldn't work, so got halfords gloss black, 3 coats, left it an hour and give it three clear coats and come out like glass, waited 48hrs and give it a wet flat and polish with halfords rubbing compound
