As someone asked for a fitting guide. I've put this one together with the only pics I had on the subject I'm using two different cars for this. Hope this is of some use to you: First of all start with this: ![]() Next, Take your donor car apart. Remove all the parts from the front so there is no plastic parts on it. If you've already done this proceed to paint stripping if you want to. You can leave your bonnet on (depending on how harsh your paint stripper is. You don't want to melt the plastic piece that holds the bonnet to the body) as it saves putting it back on for measuring up for trimming. Next, practice fit (no glue) your nosecone to see if it needs altering on the back to make it fit snug to the body. As each one is slightly different, alter as required until your happy with the fit: Once happy, glue it in place, Like so. ![]() Once the glue is set, proceed to filling. (This pic is of a Sunstar mk2 so the grooves where the ghia trim was, have also been filled) ![]() Don't forget to turn your car over and fill where the splitter meets the original body. I prefere to use car body filler as it sets quicker and is easier to sand. Keep sanding and refilling untill you're happy with the finish Don't sand too far back, so you can see the joins of the nosecone, or this may show when you paint it. So leave a bit of filler in it so you can't see the joins. BONNET TRIMMING: Once you're happy with your sanding, it's time to trim the bonnet to fit your new recess. You only get ONE shot at this. If you cut off too much, good luck finding another bonnet. If your bonnet is still fitted, close it. Then with a pencil, mark where the bonnet meets the top lip of the nose. MAKE THIS JUST A LITTLE BIT LARGER THAN THE OPENING FOR THE BONNET. On each edge of the bonnet put a pencil mark (wing to wing) Now take your bonnet off Get out the hacksaw and cut off the smallest part of the bonnet. This should be roughly 2.5 to 3mm wide. Place your bonnet back on (See, it's still slightly too big isn't it?) O.K. don't panic. Get out a file or a handy little Dremel tool and file the newly cut edge back until it fits inside the recess. Like this: ![]() Take your bonnet off again, and turn it over. Get the file or Dremel out again. and flatten out the edge of the underside of your bonnet (again, about 3mm from the cut edge) Keep checking your progress until it fits flush as possable to your wing edges (where you filled it to meet the nosecone) Don't forget to smooth off the cut side of your bonnet with some wet and dry (240 grade is o.k) Once and only once you are happy. Break out the primer And be creative: ![]() [/URL [/URL ]I hope this has been some help to you. |

Hope it helps mate. My advice is, leave the boot trim on, as you only have to fill it where it meets the lip of the boot lid :) |

As long as you cut it so it's still a bit too big, you can file it back mate |
