What makes you tick with other peoples projects?

Just wondering really.

I've seen loads of threads where the models are fantastic and there have been hundreds of replies and quite rightly as well. I've seen threads where the models are fantastic and there have been next to no replies. Threads where someone has butchered a model and get told it's amazing as well as having loads of replies, and some people projects almost completely blanked. What about the threads that have one post with someone saying what they are planning and others that are a word wall with no pics at all.

What is it about a WIP that you're looking for and what is it that makes you ignore some people and and comment (loads) on others?

What is it that you come on here for? Is it to just look at other people WIP's, sell stuff, buy stuff or get a bit of recognition for the work you put into your projects?

I got told error as I ticke them all! Bit of everything for me!! I'm not the most talented person on here whatsoever but I enjoy chatting to like minded people! My mates have a right good laugh when I tell them what my hobby is! And good for them!! I'm not arsed!! Same as on here it's good crack, I like looking at WIPs for inspiration! Not to copy but to create ideas on what others have done, change and tweak it to my style! My creativity weighs out my talent to much though!! I plan on changing that and going to put a lot more effort into the models I do rather than rushing them out like I have in the past!! Really enjoy doing it tho!! So there you are lol

i have been on here for advice mainly but love looking ar what others are doing and being envious of the skills shown, would like to get to know people and have a bit of banter but on the other hand cant stand the way some car forums get clicky im hoping this forumn isnt like that where only the "in " peoples threads get comments

im happy to recieve advice and creative critism if it helps me to turn out better models

i come on to see the creations some people can do,the new products MM keep producing, the detail people put in to a model & there collection's, its good to talk to like minded people make friends,
talking to the missus isnt the best, just get a hmm umm, & help each other with sharing thoughts.

im interested to see how other people build there cars & love to see lots of build pics
i also like to share my models with other & help anyone out giving advise or even finding a part they may need i have in my stash

sometimes i like to just view threads, but will post mostly in threads that are interesting, details of whats been done & the new starters that maybe need abit of advise
i hate posts where its afew pics & ones that are blurry, rushed projects, effortless,i like to see the effort going into them so why not make effort posting about them , thats just me

Known for Excellent Japs eye

Id choose all of the above if I could

As for peoples W.I.P threads, I like to see things that are dfferent from the norm, a quick wheel swap doesn't interesr me but if someone kicks it up a notch or does something completely different I love it
I like lots of pictures, but I like a good 'walkthrough' too, that's why I always tend to ramble on a bit in my thread explaining each pic.
However I am guilty of not commenting on projects, I tend think Just saying 'thats nice' is pointless unless I can offer some constructive criticism or give (and ask for) advice

Cossienuts; there's no cliques here mate, bar one or two people know to keep an eye on I think were all a like minded friendly bunch and all up for a laugh

I'm fairly new to all this myself. And I only started modding to keep myself busy.
And now it's become a bit of addiction. I came to this forum to get some advice, inspiration and meet people.
And it hasn't dissapointed. :)

I like seeing the mods people make and the subject matter. I've always loved cars for their aesthetic appeal I appreciate the hours gone into designing them and seeing people put their own mark on them. I like to give advice when I can if I believe it helps of course.
I find it a great resource for sourcing parts and knowledge in general and it's good to know people are doing similar but in most cases better stuff.
It's also nice being able to show ya stuff and get opinions from others a kind of general camaraderie you get from sharing a creative process.

great thread idea issy!!

i dont always comment on stuff on here but can assure you all i do my best to go through every new post that goes up and i do admire all the skill shown by members .
you will see i am signed into the forum for pretty much the whole 24hrs of the day but this is because i have the forum homepage set as my home page when anyone opens a browser on my pc , it will open this page and then another for them to use .
i dont always reply to pm's but have asked in the past that if it is order related please send a message via ebay as i am only human and do forget things i have been asked for via pm , of it goes through ebay either myself or dave will answer you asap.
again i can not always be on here as i have orders to get ready but thats where the mods come in.
there is no clicks on here as far as i am concearned , i know us admins and mods may appear to get on a little too well but thats to be expected considering the job we all do and the fact we have all met up in person at some point .
i will have a chat with anyone that is up for one.
if you would prefer let me know and ill pm you my mobile number .
there is quite a few members i do speak to quite often and i find in the most case we all have things in common :king:

So when you guys are doing a project, do you go in your head 'what would the forum like' or 'what do I like' or a bit of both?

have to admit to being fully focused on what i want first and foremost , will get it to a certain point then share with the forum and take on any advice and criticism , i find it very helpful to hear other people's comments on my work whether good or bad .
a good few of my models have turned out better than they would have after some constructive criticism by fellow modders , and nothing gets past hawkeye's either....lol

issydad...currently iam only building the models ( in my head mainly due to time ) for me, the ideas i have are based on cars id love to own or be styled the way if i owned id like them to be if that makes sense, once im into my flow id like to think people on here would like the effort gone into it

Pete glad to hear there are no cliques makes me want to stay around!

I've had loads of help on here and hope I may have helped One or Two people out.

i'm only new to this i used to come on here and nose at peoples wips and amazin models which have been made with the amount of skill and tallent, then after time it made me want to start my own wip so the escort got dug out and so did the hacksaw have never looked back either, i receive so much help on here and info, i could never seen myself gettin as far as i have now without the help off all you guys, then i bought my seats off mm them selves, picking 2 things isnt fair haha, should be able to tick more, when i get some money i would like to buy a few models on here because i'd rather use this rather than ebay. theres too many reasons to list hope ive pointed you in the right direction about why i'm here though

I enjoy, reading up on certain members projects as they push the boundaries, and the detail is amazing, i got back into it in march and started with xj220's, but slowly found what i like, practiced on the cheaper models that i got off ebay and sold them on to fund my habit lol, i have no problem selling my models, well anything as long as its not a mk3 escort, i just love the mk3, i now have 5 and don't intend to sell them lol, but i would love to spend more time on them but its very hard with 3 small children working full time and modifying my real life car.

i also love Looking at the new product list from MM, there stuff is amazing and the detail is fanatastic, i also like the banter that goes on, just like minded people and you know if you post and idea up you will get alot of different views where as if i spoke to my mates or wife i will just get thats nice lol.

i also like the for sale stuff, as i am always looking for mk3 parts and they sometimes crop up, or a nice set of wheels etc etc.

this is just a great place to be involved with, i know i do some wip threads and use the cheaper range of models but with work you can still get them up to a fantastic level, and i got some really nice comments for the nismo 350z i have just finished and that spurns me on to build more

cheers

robin

I have to say I have seen a couple of threads where the work is poor and it have a million pages off talking and about 2 pictures.

I like seeing the threads where you see every detail that has been put into the model.

I'm only human, I love getting comments and good replies on my models as it makes me feel like I have produced something that others like aswell as myself.

I also like giving advice...obviously I'm a good helping hand when it comes to painting and longdog has set me a challenge which will be my contribution to helping people out.
