Im new here, I was pointed this direction on another forum after posting some pictures of a Ford Focus that I modified slightly... First question... where do you guys get wheels from and how do you tell what size they are? I would love to change the alloys on a few of my models but no idea where to get them from... My first obvious thought would be to rip them off another model... but that's a little expensive to do. Second question is, how do you lower the cars? The Focus I want to do it to is a Burago model and the "suspension" is just some round plastic cylinders that the wheels drop into... Not sure if you can see them but heres the picture from when I took it apart.

Hi mate you can get the wheels of eBay off model motorvations very good quality and look great! The way I lower my models is by carefully taking them off the old model and gluing them a bit higher on! On some models have actual springs for suspension and on those you can take them out and that works to! |

Not much comes up on ebay, the ones that do come up are from Hong Kong and at crazy prices they you could buy an entire model for. Hmm... my model has working steering so glue is out of the question and it doesn't have springs... all I can think of is to sand down the plastic mounts but that means the steering won't work well. Edit: tell a lie... sanding them down would make it higher... |

http://shop.ebay.co.uk/model_motorvations/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=25 MM eBay shop. Am the same as Kezza, just glue them higher in the arch. Theres no set way of modding though, its what ever works to do the job. ![]() Get most of my wheels from on here or eBay. This guy (gt.turbo on here) always has a few sets from stock models and has very good and prices. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/dsp.92/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=25 ![]() |

Type 1/18 modified into eBay mate! The wheels will never turn (rotate) but they will steer! I've sanded down the hub on the brakes before so it's smooth then stick the wheels to that! But you have to remember all wheels are different so the wheels you go for may have something on the back! It's all the fun of modifying models mate! Getting it to work!! I think the best advice we tend to give to new comers is to buy a cheapo crappy model off eBay and take it apart try things on it that you wouldn't want to do to a model you like?? |

As alot of the other lads have said eBay for wheels, but this week I was a little naughty and paid 50euros for a model purely for the wheels haha. Have a look on some of the build threads, found them to be a fountain of knowledge when I first got into modelling. |
